working on modelling a battle barge for my homebrew Space Marine chapter, the Emerald Wings.

By the blood of Sanguinius.
Military nerds be like "I can suspend my disbelief for psychic powers, artificial intelligence, brain uploading, telepathy headsets, railguns, and spider tanks, but I draw the line at effective tank armor and air defense."
Listen, if he's comfortable enough to come out of the closet, we should let him.

As much as I love Sanguinius, I think Leman is at the top because of how he grows over the Heresy. He's not just a primarch, a demigod of war and a symbol of the Imperium. He's a man. A human person. He makes mistakes, he has regrets, he's not perfect. He's just Leman.

I imagine it's because of how their centuries of war weigh on their souls.
After watching And They Shall Know No Fear - why do they insist on giving the Astartes such deep, sad and soulful eyes that show the weight of centuries of war on their very souls? And why are we all fine with that and indeed demand more?

Starting a lore dump on my homebrew chapter (Yes, the blog is named after them)
Founded in the Eighth Founding, the Emerald Wings were one of a few chapters created at the time to carry on the legacy of Sanguinius.
Since their founding, they have earned a reputation for a mastery of aerial warfare, making heavy use of aircraft, skimmers, and jump packs. Aircraft and jump packs in particular are central to the Emerald Wings' doctrines, to the point where they are the biggest points of divergence between the chapter and the Codex Astartes.
