**this is my own take on Regulus. Literally none of this is canon.
One small difference between other death eaters and Regulus is how they react to people wanting to join the death eaters.
A younger slytherin comes up to them and tells them they want to become a death eater too.
People like Barty and Snape are fully supportive. They tell them all about the glorious things the Dark Lord has done. Tells them they will have to work hard to gain such an honor and he will be waiting to see them at the next meeting.
Regulus tells them they are making a huge mistake. They will be used as a pawn in Voldemort’s game and, if not willing, forced to kill. He would say it isn’t worth your life.
He tells that kid every horrific thing he’s seen or heard about (he’s still in school so he hasn’t participated in it yet). Better to be scared than dead. He makes sure they don’t want to participate in the war at all.
They are all death eaters, they all support Voldemort and have seen the unspeakable things that have been done. But Regulus knows when he’s being manipulated, and he’ll be damned if he let someone be in the same position as him. It’s too late for him, he’s too deep in the war. He realizes it never mattered what they were fighting for, people are dying no matter what they believed in. He doesn’t want to contribute to that number more than he has to.
Fuck Sirius being anti-jegulus
I want jegulus stan Sirius beating the shit out of James when they break up
Give me that soap opera bullshit 🤲 I NEED IT NOW
That’s actually super interesting because I always see them never getting together. Like they always have a sad ending in ffs and it’s makes it hard to find fics bc i can’t do sad endings🤪
Also, I always thought that James would already think blood supremacy’s bad but he would learn differently with Reg. He would realize that the ‘bad side’ are people just like him outside of their beliefs. Reg would humanize the death eaters for him. It would make the war more real for the both of them to know who they’re losing
But I LOVE seeing other ideas about the relationship because they shouldn’t all be the same!!!!!
Okay so Jegulus,
I don't ship it.
But not because of the ship.
I don't ship it because of how a lot of other people ship it. Like it can't work out, but that's like the point of it. It was never meant to last forever. It can't work because. Reggie's already too deep into the dark arts, but having dated each other opens each of their eyes to a reality.
Regulus: Dating James plants a seed, that will one day grow into his betrayal of Voldemort. He cannot get there yet, but seeing the 'other side' is an important step.
James: Dating regulus open James' eyes to how bad blood supremacists actually are. This not only leads to him believing that the inevitable result is war, whereas he had previously hoped for a peaceful resolution, but it also gives him an insight into Sirius' home life, which eventually leads to him moving in with the Potters.
The reason this ship can never work out is that we know Regulus becomes a death eater and James Potter would not be okay with that. I think James would have thought he could change Regulus, but he couldn't stop him from getting the mark in the end.
When I read many Jegulus fics they always end up making it end with them together, and in a happy relationship, when in reality their relationship would have been unhealthy and had to end badly.
I know people probably already hc this but what if while Sirius learned ballet, Regulus learned how to ice skate.
Sirius loved ballet but couldn’t skate for shit meanwhile Regulus learned how to do all the tricks and flips and stuff (I don’t skate I have no clue what the lingo is)
So whenever the lake was frozen over he would go super early in the morning and practice what he only got to do a couple months a year.
James, being the maniac who gets up at five in the morning to go for a jog, is one of the only people to actually see Reg skate.
At first he couldn’t see it was him and thought ‘this dude’s gonna fall on his ass trying to ice skate in the dark’. He couldn’t make out much but was mesmerized by the figure who moved so elegantly on the ice.
He would only realize it was Regulus an hour later when the sky finally started to lighten up. Regulus was taking off his skates when he looked up and saw James fully facing him (away from the jogging trail). They both stayed silent until James whispered ‘bloody hell’ and speed walked back to the school.
Every morning they would see each other, maybe nod, exchange pleasantries, until one morning. The ice was too thin to skate on and Regulus certainly wasn’t going to risk it, so instead he joined James for his early morning jog. It shocked James, and if Regulus was being honest, it shocked him too. They ended up having a really nice conversation. That was the morning they both realized they had a crush on each other.
Rest In Peace Reggie Black. You would’ve loved the Song of Achillies😔
I love the 'Jegulus is doomed and Jily is meant to be' thingy because they act like Jily isn't doomed too.
Jegulus is doomed in the way that they die but if they lived they could make it work and Jily is doomed in the way that they are not compatible in the long run, they just happened to die before they could break up.
Bro your mind is expansive thank you so much for this perfect explanation. I didn’t think everything was a lie either but I never thought about all of that
ok i don't want to be that person that says "Everyone is wrong and my opinion is the right one" ......but i think everyone is wrong about the ending of Ragnarok.
It was anticlimactic i agree. But i don't think this was all in his head. The final part, the battle, it happened. Magne saw a glimpse of what could have happened if he hadn't went against what things were expected of them. Because this is what the whole show is about. Everyone is expected to be someone and doing something that at the end of the day, they aren't meant to be.
And everyone is like "Oh all of this for Ragnarok to not happen "
But it did.
Just not as it was written. That the Ragnarok they had lived once. That's the Ragnarok they thought they had to live again. They where trapped in a loop of constant fight. But Magne broke that. And the last true Ragnarok happened. He took the nine steps that took Thor to die. And he made a choice. And Thor died. So that Magne could live.
So that they could live.
Ragnarok happened because they left behind their roles. They left behind the expectations they had of themselves. And moved forward. Gone are the times of the Titans and the Gods. They live as humans now.
Ragnarok happened and they are finally free.
And you can’t tell me James wont give the ‘epic highs and lows of high school football’ speech to Remus’ ‘I had to sell drugs for my nana’ speech.
someone compared regulus to jughead and they were 100% right but dying at the thought of regulus giving Sirius the “I’m weird, I’m a weirdo” speech
K so like, Sirius always wanted to be a rockstar right? He always dressed super punk and has the voice for it.
But imagine…
Regulus felt like he could never talk with people about his problems. He was always so alone and felt even lonelier.
But then he over heard from some Ravenclaw that they keep a journal to help them get all their emotions out.
He decides to do so. He writes everything he feels he can’t say. He lets his handwriting get messy, he scratches things out. Some pages are just lists or bullet points. It’s the one place he can actually be himself. The only way he can figure out who he is.
He stops feeling like he’s fading away. He has something to hold onto. He can identify his feelings and really understand them.
Soon he just has journals filled with half finished poems, song lyrics he overheard (from people like his brother who refused to turn down their music), chord progressions he can’t get over from his concertos, and now, he has full songs.
He knows who he is now. He runs away to muggle America and starts a career as a mysterious new singer who just showed up on the rock scene. Violin and guitar are basically the same instrument, right? Of course his skills will translate.
His songs are filled with anger, sadness, and pain. He writes about his family, the loss of his brother, his cousin, his uncle, and what it feels like to have everyone who you loved forget you. But he also writes about joy. For having had a brother at all, for having friends (even if they are three feet tall and hate everyone except for him), for falling in love with a boy he met in a recording studio who was saved by music just like he was.
He writes about the war and the guilt of running away instead of fighting alongside his brother. And about reconnecting with said brother after Voldemort was killed by Dumbledore (Just go with it).
He was finally happy.
And if his brother got super jealous after finding him on the cover of a magazine in the boots he used to wear, well that’s just a bonus.
It’s not my favorite truth, but it is one and I respect that.
Hear me out, I know people hc James being tall, but Sirius and him give off such short king vibes together.
Like, people don’t really think of him as short because he’s BUILT, but the moment him and Sirius are together (which is always), it’s like he loses a couple inches.
He’s still taller than Lily and Regulus (cus I’m a slut for Jegulus and Jegulily🤪) , which makes them angry because it’s only like half an inch and James constantly reminds them of it.
