To any new writers:Â Be brave! Take the plunge and post your fics - the world canât wait to read them, and Iâm sure theyâre wonderful! And if youâve already done so, then congratulations, and welcome to the world of writing!
To any old writers:Â Thank you, and keep going! Your fics are appreciated and enjoyed, and hopefully whatever comes next is as loved as it deserves to be!
To the popular writers:Â Well done on getting your work out there! Itâs wonderful to see fics with so many notes, and I hope your next fic is just as appreciated!
To the writers who get 3 notes:Â Your work is no less amazing than those who get thousands of notes. Keep going, because there are people who adore what you write. You are fantastic and loved.
To the writers who post fics regularly:Â You are incredible, and should be both admired and feared. Well done for your wonderful work ethic, and for bringing quality writing to your fandoms!
To the writers who update irregularly: You are brilliant. Writing is hard, and just because you donât update frequently doesnât detract from the fact that youâre incredible people who are writing for nothing but pleasure. I hope your writing is going well, and that you know that your fics (and you!) are loved.
To the writers who have lost their inspiration:Â Donât worry! Inspiration comes and goes, and hopefully your enthusiasm for your fics will come back. Until then, know that the writing youâve already done is wonderful, and if you decide to continue, itâll be fantastic.
To every writer: Thank you â¤ď¸
I just realized that @entirelytookeen is no longer on tumblr! This makes me sad - I really regret not saving some of their posts. By the way, Iâm sad at me, not @entirelytookeen. I have no idea why they left tumblr and Iâm actually thinking that if they left, I probably should too ... regardless, a belated thank you to them for their lovely posts. Hope you are well and if anyone knows where they have gone, please let me know. Thanks! xoxo
This is actually advice my mentoring professor gave me when I was writing my first thesis.
He said: Accept that you are never done. There is always more to know, more to research, more questions raised than answered. At some point, you just got to start writing.
Now, âeasier said than done, this acceptingâ, I thought.
I started writing because my thesis deadline was looming. But what if youâre writing a novel and you have no deadline? How do you know when itâs okay to stop researching? When is it okay to stop worldbuilding? (Which is just like doing research, but in your own head instead of in reality.)
My advice to you is: start writing, and youâll run into the gaps you still need to fill. Then you know what to research before starting your second draft. Let your story tell you what it needs.
For example:
Just fill your margins with a to-research-list for your future self.
That way, itâs also managable: âI finished my first draft, and I have a list of 317 things I need to decide on.â Instead of: âI saw on tumblr that you canât build a world without knowing everything about the sewage system! And gosh, I havenât invented three languages yet!â
Advantages:
You get things done.
Itâs not overwhelming.
You donât spend your time inventing things youâll like so much that you want to infodump them into your story.
You mainly research things that are relevant to your story.
Well, knowing you, you already researched enough irrelevant stuff too.
You get things done.
I hope this was helpful. Donât hesitate to ask me any questions, and happy writing!
Follow me for more writing advice, or check out my other writing advice here. New topics to write advice about are also always welcome.
Tag list below the cut, a few people I like and admire and of course, you can be too. If you like to be added to or removed from the list, let me know.

Though âwriting skillâ is often used to refer to all aspects of story crafting, it best refers to the actual writing and technical skills that create the written word of a novel. Addressed in the previous post: Writing vs Storytelling Skills (link embedded), now Iâm here to tell you how to work on that specific writing skill.
1. Study up on Literary Techniques: English class isnât just for assigned reading and essays if youâre serious about bettering your writing. While essay writing and creative writing are different, the literary techniques and how theyâre used and applied is good knowledge to have. Especially because a lot of them overlap with tropes and tie into storytelling!
2. Read a variety of books. Various authors, various genres, the more you expand your examples the better. Variation of reading means youâll be exposed to more ideas, more ways of thought, more writing styles, more everything that you can draw ideas from and help develop your own skill. Even take up books you may not like. Give them a chance, and if the writing isnât working for you then keep tabs on why.
3. Critique the writing of others. What did you like? What didnât you like? How does the writing style affect how the book reads? When you critique others, you identify what makes and doesnât make âgood writingâ. While a writer can only critique at a close level to their skill, the more they critique, the higher skill climbs, and the better they get. To become a better writer, you should get used to tearing otherâs, and your own, work apart. It can help to keep a journal or some kind of record of critiques because as you gain more skill you may change your mind on some points.Â
4. Tighten up your grammar. Itâs fine to make mistakes, especially in a first draft, but if you have consistent grammar errors then itâs time to tackle the issue. Grammar isnât optional; it exists to help with clarity of communication and a clearer writer is a better writer. Itâs true that creative writing allows for the use of semantic grammar or a more fluid approach to sentence structure, but thereâs a difference between using purposefully altered grammar for a reason versus just not knowing how to write properly.Â
5. Try writing exercises. Many of these exist, from things like The Sprint (link embedded), which can help train you get work done, or The POV Swap (link embedded), which works on distinguishing character voice and perspective. Not all exercises are for everyone because thereâs a variation to writing styles, but it never hurts to put in some effort to step outside our comfort zone to see if it could work. Further the benefits of writing exercises by developing a routine of regular use.
6. Read your work out loud. The mind has a tendency to put a haze of glory over some things and one way to help look at your writing realistically is to read it out loud to yourself. Reading out loud helps catch errors, some even grammatical, measure flow, evaluate pacingâ itâs an amazing technique that gives the writer a better idea of what theyâve really put down. When reading, donât be afraid to get into it and put emotion into your voice as long as itâs coming from the flow of the writing itself and isnât forced.
All that said, thereâs no such thing as a âperfect writerâ. Brushing up on writing skills isnât about being perfect, itâs about getting better relative to where you were before (and potentially helping close the gap between writing and storytelling skills).
Keep trying, keep practicingâ keep writing.

Okay kru, Clexaweek2019 officially begins tomorrow so hereâs a refresher on the Clexaweek basics!
THEMES:Â Monday 02/25 - Useless Lesbian Tuesday 02/26 - No Strings Attached Wednesday 02/27 - Only One Bed Thursday 02/28 - Nipples Friday 03/01 - Tinder AU & Nerd/Popular Trope Saturday 03/02 - Enemies to Lovers Sunday 03/03 - Free Day
Use the tags #Clexaweek2019, #Day (_), and #(prompt). Make sure you put those first three tags in first because as we all know, tags and searching can be finicky. Feel free to use whatever other tags you want (#Clexa, #Clexa fic, #Clexa fanart, what have you), but just make sure to definitely list those three at the beginning. You can submit a link to me here, either directly to the work or to your tumblr post, and I will reblog it. If you post on ao3, add the work to the collection Clexaweek2019.
Please remember to leave a comment on a fic you read. Even something as simple as âajfkdsajlfdk;saâ is very much appreciated. Kudos are nice, but comments are the real validation. Please, please, please leave a comment! Please remember to reblog and not just like posts on Tumblr. When people make art and moodboards etc, reblogging is how the post is spread and showed to more people. And feel free to comment on those too (and creators love stalking the tags to see what people say as well!). Letting a creator know whatâs awesome about their work is what encourages them to continue creating, so please keep that in mind! We all support each other here! That being said, usually every year thereâs at least one troll who posts a stupid (and terribly written) fic on purpose to try to get attention. If that happens, IGNORE it. Donât give it hits, donât comment on it, nothing. Report it if the tags are incorrect, but otherwise ao3 canât do much, so donât give the troll any attention. Our fandom is so big and awesome that new works will flood the tag anyway so yeah, just let those terrible works fade into obscurity.Â
At the end of Clexaweek, I will make a masterlist of all the content created. My fandom wife @clexabookmarks also makes lists of the new fics. If you notice weâve missed a work just let us know! It can be so chaotic running this while working full time so itâs easy for some works to slip through the cracks. Just hit us up and weâll add it in!
If you have any questions about Clexaweek, ask here. If you want me to give you some prompts, you can hit up my ask box or you can peruse my tagged list of Clexa prompts. If you would like to view previous Clexaweek Events, they can be found here: Clexaweek2017, Clexaweek2018. There are also Clexaweek collections on ao3.
HAVE FUN! :D Canât wait to see what you all come up with! Iâve missed you all, kru. Welcome home.
It is very important that the language in your novel reflects the time and place in which the story is set.
For example, my story is set in Italy. My characters would never âride shotgunâ, a term coined in US in the early 1900s referring to riding alongside the driver with a shotgun to gun bandits.Â
Do your research! A free tool that I found to be very useful is Ngram Viewer.Â
You can type any word and see when it started appearing in books. For exampleâŚone of my characters was going to say âgazillionâ (I write YA) in 1994. Was âgazillionâ used back then?
And the answer isâŚYES! It started trending in 1988 and was quite popular in 1994.
Enjoy ^_^
⢠the business of caring: a public service announcement: the campus police would like to politely remind all students, well-wishers, and supporters of the university during this time of serial vandalism that painting on buildings without permission is still illegal. this has not changed no matter how âcoolâ you think it is. vandalism has never been nor will it ever be âradicalâ, âsickâ, or any version thereof. -supervisor lexa woods
⢠stronger than we know: Clarke and Lexa meet for the first time on a blind date set up by their friends. They meet for the second time when Clarke takes her son to his first day of school only to find out that Lexa is his teacher. After some awkwardness they agree to just be friends but somehow itâs too much and not enough all at once.

âIf?â Lexa asked teasingly. âSince when is anything an if when it comes to you?â She inched her way forward, keeping an eye and an ear out for any movement around her.
âWell, I didnât want to brag.â
Lexa chuckled lowly. âThatâs new.â
âShut up and go get your girl,â Raven said, a smile in her voice. So maybe, just maybe, Lexa was forgiven. She doubted it, but she could hope. As long as Clarke was safe, she was pretty sure the rest of them would get over her sneaking out.
âSee you on the other side.â

author: sorry Iâm jumping on this bandwagon and writing a fic with the same premise as all these other fics
me, has read 500 fics like this one and is prepared to read 500 more: please never apologize for giving the people (me) what they (also me) want
Happy Holidays Clexakru! For the holiday season, I am hoping you all can join me in sending out a giant thank you to our wonderful authors. It has been over 1,000 days since Lexa left us and our authors have continued to keep Clexa alive. Without them our ship would have sailed and we would be scattered to other fandoms. Without them, the impact of Clexa on the LGBT community would have been forgotten. Without them, I never would have met some amazing people. So, in no particular order, here is a thank you to some amazing writers for whom I am forever grateful.
Known for: Three Loves (Pieces of Us)
My Favorite: Friday Night Pizza Delivery
Hidden Gem: Tell Her
Common Tags: Fluff, Humor, G!P
Judeâs writing is smart, witty, and filled with love. Her love for Clexa is reflected not only by her writing style but also by the extensive collection of Clexa stories she has written. Friday Night Pizza Delivery is a super fun and hilarious story of Clarke trying her hardest to entice delivery girl Lexa. Tell Her is a sweet, fluffy fic but itâs confused Lexa and her bromance with Raven that made me fall in love with this fic. Also, I must confess that Judeâs smut is fantastic. She knows how to get you wiggling in your seat.
Known for: (my) Destruction Within Your Mouth
My Favorite: The White Queen Running
Hidden Gem: The Red King Awake
Common Tags: Slow Burn, Canon Divergence, Parallel Universes
I am deeply in love with KLMâs works. She has created multiple versions of Clarke and Lexa, each one true to the original pairing but under different circumstances. Her characterizations are deeply complex, realistic, and fascinating. She has created the most brilliant form of Costia. A character whose self-preservation was rooted in the unwavering devotion to another, even at the cost of her own needs. KLMâs works show that she understands who Clarke and Lexa are at their core; a feat that even the show creators have not accomplished.
Known for: It Takes As Long As It Takes
My Favorite: It Takes As Long As It Takes
Hidden Gem: It Takes As Long As It Takes

Who among us did not squeal with joy when this fic was updated after nearly a two year wait? ITALAIT was worth the wait. OF has written a beautiful story that falls into the same category as Lover in Low Light and Except You, Love. ITALAIT is a heart wrenching exploration of a fractured relationship. OFâs writing truly shines as she uses flashbacks to examine what went wrong and move the plot forward with details of past love. This is the only work OF currently has on AO3. It is an outstanding piece and leaves me hoping to see more works from her in the future.
What are your fave clexa fics and why
Oh boy. Thatâs just too much pressure. Iâll do it for multi chapter fics:
First off my favorite fic ever is probably More Women than Warriors by @steklir
My (close) second favorite is in love and war and politics by @centuriesofexistence
My favorite fics right now (that will easily enter my top-10/20) are maybe a crown seldom enjoyed by @onemilliongoldstars and you are in my head (and the prequel) by @mopeytropey
Fics that will forever feature in my top-10/15: in the shallows by @blindwire , the white queen running (and the sequel) by KL_Morgan (@entirelytookeen on Tumblr) , what heartâs ease must queens neglect by thrace, black ribbons by CareyElizabeth, open windows, open hearts by Sheisme, when love becomes the reason by @clarkesquad, blood rush in the hazy glow by firetestsgold, the fight me series by @fairytaleslayer, and the whoresâ queen by @clarkethewanheda .
EDIT: I knew I was forgetting two fics! Theyâre Grand Slam Thank You, Ma'am by faithtastic (@femininenachos on Tumblr) and This Is Heaven In Hiding by @orangeyouglad8 (Iâm so torn between this one and the Pirate AU)
There are probably more but these are the ones I remembered off the top of my head. Also, everything by the authors I mentioned is great. And there are so many other authors I love (like @commanderlexaofthegrounders , @paintthebrain , eternaleponine, raspberytree, AnonBeMe, AphroditesLaw, Teroe, etc) but I really tried to keep this list as short as possible.
The deal
Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesnât stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldnât access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more.Â
You claim in your statement to us that you âhave been working on these problems for a long timeâ. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. Weâve been here. Weâve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again.Â
We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes youâve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to be âMinor Attracted Personsâ, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things are âagainst the community guidelinesâ, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you havenât addressed them. To say you have is untrue.Â
Multiple other social networking websites, such as Wordpress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole. There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough.Â
Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts, âfemale nipplesâ, or any community violation of any kind.Â
We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems - particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blogâs feed. This is a huge issue for mobile - only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply âban all adult contentâ is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography - but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.
If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to.Â
You already have a content filter for âsensitiveâ content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy âsolutionâ, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.
If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isnât hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.Â
Sincerely,Â
The users of your website.Â

Such an excellent post! Reposting
the suffering never ends
People keep asking âHow can anyone have a problem with AO3 doing fundraising!â
And Iâm just likeâŚ. Have people not noticed all the virulent anti-AO3 hate on tumblr propagated by the anti shipping community? Antis have a problem with AO3 raising money because they hate the fact that AO3 wonât allow them to censor content they donât like and doesnât tolerate bullying. Thatâs who is putting out these posts like, âhow can this nasty site raise so much money?â Read between the lines.
And for all the people who are just like, âIf they donât want AO3 to to raise money why donât they just not donate?â
Because antis are incapable of saying âthis isnât for me so I wonât support it but I donât care if other people support it. They have to actively discourage other people from supporting the thing. At the same time, they also wonât stop using AO3 because 1) theyâre a bunch of fucking hypocrites who want readership and thatâs where the readers are and 2) theyâre too lazy to put together their own archive using AO3â˛s open source code because that would require doing coding and buying servers and doing all the moderating they want, which is hard, and they just want to engage in empty virtue signalling, which is easy
Anyway, my point is, people need to be aware that these people are out there and they hate AO3 and they want it to go away even though theyâre actively using the platform. Theyâve even said they want AO3 to fail so something âbetterâ (re, something they control) can take its place. Some of them are blatant about it, calling AO3 a cesspit of pedophilia, and some of them are subtle about it, saying more innocuous things like âDoes AO3 really need 130K a year?â âShouldnât you give your money to individual needy people doing gofundmes for stuff thatâs more more important?â
But all of these people have the same end goal, which is the destruction of the archive, and the way theyâre going about it right now is to try to discourage people from donating.
So instead of asking, âWhy do people object to AO3 raising money?â start telling people âHey there are people out there who hate AO3 and want to destroy it and we have to protect the archive from them.â And donate, if you can, and signal boost, if you canât.
Clexa + Parallels Lilâ gift for you Erin, I know how much you love these. I hope it will âcheer you upââ. Thank you for everything. But this gifset is also for all the Clexa fans as well. THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME.
iâm mentally ill too but fucking listen to me here. you need to take responsibility for your actions regardless of whether or not theyâre a product of your mental illness. you donât get to manipulate, gaslight, take advantage of, or straight up abuse people because youâre mentally ill! you donât! what the fuck! why are some of you still thinking itâs okay to say things like âmanipulation is okay because i have _____ and need attention from my significant otherâ oh my god. Donât fucking do that
So, just to check in with all yâall!
Iâve started a follow-up to my canon divergent âGroundedâ (you can find the first giant-ass installment, titled âGrounded,â at AO3). Not sure when Iâll start posting or when itâll be done, but holy hell, this is gonna be FUN.
Also, the Clexa AU âbang shuiâ is done, ICYMI (also at AO3), and I did decide to do a follow-up to that one, but Iâm taking a bit of a break first.
However, as I said at the end of âbang shuiâ in the notes, I am writing a one-shot that Iâll probably have done in the next month or so (and if youâve read âbang shuiâ, you know EXACTLY what this one-shot/smut-shot is all aboutâŚlolol).
ALSO, I have ANOTHER Clexa AU in the works that Iâll probably be able to start posting in the next couple of months or so. In that one, Clarke and Lexa are actresses. And thatâs all Iâm saying. MUAH HA HAHA!!!!
Just wanted to let everyone know whatâs going on. Please ask me anything. I love hearing from people. XX!

Yes yes yes! Thank you!
Howdy Clexakru! For our next installment of Clexa fic recommendations, I am focusing on Recently Updated Works-In-Progress. The majority of these fics have been updated within the past couple months. There are so many great WIP out there, so this is Part 1. I may do another list that focuses on those WIP that have been updated in the past 6-months or so (cause writers have lives too and shouldnât be overlooked just because they arenât able to update sooner). Without further ado:
A Crown Seldom Enjoyed by @onemilliongoldstars: Oh hell yes the Game of Thrones crossover you never knew you needed (well thatâs a lie, we have all been secretly pining for this fic). This authorâs writing style is beautifully romantic but completely realistic. It is soft when necessary but strong when it matters. It is, in one word, enrapturing. I tried to wait till this was complete so I could binge it, but I couldnât wait. It was totally worth going to bed at 3am to finish it.
Earning it Back, Heart Upon the Southern Ground, and Behind the Stars by @sassymajesty: Guys, I donât know how to explain to you in words the extent to which I love this authorâs writings. The angst, the slow burn, the fluff, the angst, the love, the heartbreak, did I mention the angst? Jesus the last update of EIB was perfection but I am so scared of what lies ahead. When reading these fics I am always reminded of the saying ânothing worth having in this world comes easyâ.
For Madi by thelovelypintobean: Fair warning, this is a Bellarke engagement but a Clexa endgame (OK OK STOP YELLING, HEAR ME OUT). Bellamy and Clarke have a kid together, Madi, but Clarke is in love with her best friend, Lexa. Bellamy proposes and Clarke says yes âfor Madiâ (Hey, thatâs the title of the fic!). What I really like so far is that Lexa and Clarke donât fight their attraction, like in so many fics. They are magnets that canât help themselves when they are alone. Chapter 2 is a little messy with a bunch of new characters but keep going because it is shaping up to be a good ride.
My Heart is the Hardest to Break by @jazzyjazzin: Lexa tutors Clarke and in return gets tips on how to make a girl fall in love with her (as if anyone wouldnât just fall in love with Lexa at first sight). Of course, Clarke is oblivious as to where Lexaâs true feelings lie. This has been such a roller coaster of emotions and the payoff has been worth it. I canât wait to see how this ends.
Except You Love by @theproseofnight: Iâm going to need a broom to sweep up my broken heart after reading this one. Clarke and Lexa break up after a once-in-a-lifetime romance due to opposite responses to a tragedy. The emotional breakdown this author creates is captivating. The layered details of the before, during, and after break-up scenes are reminiscent of the style of Lover in Low Light (for those who know their Clexa fic history, you know that is not a compliment to be taken lightly).
Battle Lines 2 by @gorgondrifter: This is a sequel to Battle Lines (hence the â2â). I tell you, I just adore this series. Battle Lines starts right after Clarke and Lexa do the naughty but Lexa doesnât die. There is loads of love and pining between the two. I really enjoy the exploration of the âwhat if Lexa didnât dieâ canon divergent stories and this one always puts a smile on my face. The writing style is fast-paced, gives just enough detail to keep you interested, and has matured over the course of the series. Give this a shot.
Sheâs New by @artsy-polarbear: Ah, did you think I would forget about this one? Hell no! I am adoring this take of a nerdy, lonely Clarke and a popular, outgoing Lexa. This is refreshing compared to how most fics imagine the two characters. However, many of the qualities we love about the two remain. We still have protective Lexa and oblivious Clarke. I read this one with a never-ending smile on my face.
Sleepless in Seattle by @lorig11: Do you want to laugh out loud on the metro and have everyone look at you like you are crazy? Do you want to have to stifle a laugh behind your hand while sitting in a quiet doctorâs office? Well have I got the fic for you! I freaking love the fun, witty style of this authorâs works. If the humor brings you in, itâs the deep, well-written connection between Clarke and Lexa that makes you stay. The last update had me throwing a temper tantrum like a child who just got told pizza was not a vegetable.
Devotion to Duty, Stellar Collision, Polis Tattoo, Breaking the Ice, Titanic: The Untold Story by @thessclexa: Is that 5 WIP all updated recently?! Yes, yes it is! And the best part? They are all amazing! I honestly cannot tell you which one is my favorite because they are all so different and amazing. Spend a Sunday binging these and it will be a Sunday well spent (or just blow off work to read them, like I did).
Closer by @rivertalesien: Clarke is an escort and Lexa is one of her clients. What happens when identities are discovered and feelings develop? There is an intelligence to this writing that I havenât seen in awhile. The author requires the reader to pay attention to time and place as the story unfolds. I am enamored by that authorâs phrasing choices, such as âsensual carnalityâ. Clarkeâs switch from soft to dominating beautifully reflects her internal battle with her feelings.
Heaven Sent by @effortlesslyopulent: Clarke was sent down to Earth many years before the Ark crashes. She and Lexa marry and rule together. Now the Ark has crashed and Clarkeâs loyalties are tested. Oh how I adore this fic! As the angst grows, Lexa and Clarkeâs love grows with it. For anyone who has been asked to choose between family or the love of your life, you will relate to Clarkeâs âdecisionâ in the latest chapter.
Show Me Your Colors by CommanderHearteyes071215: Clarke teaches at Arkadia HIgh and Lexa is the new teacher. Lexa is cold and stand-offish but Clarke is determined to get to know her. Guys, the banter between the two is fantastic. Their favorite thing to say to each other? âI hate youâ, âI hate you tooâ. They are both oblivious to their mutual love but they arenât fooling those around them. This has been such a fun and easy read.
Everything Is The Same As It Was by @aphrodites-law: One day all 7 billion people on earth vanish - except for Clarke. At least, thatâs what she thought until she was staring down the barrel of Lexaâs gun. It is so Clexa that is would take the end of the world for them to find each other. This is a slow burn, fluffy fic about two sweet souls just trying to find something worth living for. A comforting-type of fic.
Lancelot by @almostafantasia: Kingsman/Secret Agent AU. Lexa is a British secret agent (oh yeah she has a British accent in this one; youâre welcome) and Clarke is the Presidentâs daughter. During a mission gone wrong, they both find themselves instantly drawn to each other. This fic is filled with lighthearted Anya bantering and action-packed scenes. Iâve thoroughly enjoyed the ride so far.
Well, thatâs the list for now. If there are any lists you would like to see in the future, drop me a line. I have some ideas lined up already. Until next time, remember to spread the love to all our amazing authors.
