Someone made a remark about rats stealing their TV (I don't know the full context; it may be as random as it sounds). But this led to a friend jokingly accusing me of stealing TVs. O_o So naturally, I did the only reasonable thing, and dropped everything to draw myself in the act. XD

It hasn't even been a week since I discovered Oneshot and I think I would die for Niko. This game is great and everyone needs to play it. More art-related ramblings under the cut!
This is the... third time I've bothered to try making a proper background/environment (first with M-O, and then with the raptor) and it's not too bad. I didn't really want to obscure it with blur filter masks like I did before, since nothing's moving and I didn't think a "zoomed in" look would work here like it did for M-O (Niko may be small, but not that small). If you look reeaally closely, you might be able to make out the random noise filter mask I put over the ground. I was trying to make it look a little less flat and a little more grainy to give it some texture, and to be fair when you zoom in it actually kinda works. Unfortunately that graininess I was going for is just a bit too fine to be noticeable when viewed normally.
But hey, you know what else isn't noticeable when viewed normally? The obnoxiously large number of layers I used for every little thing and bit of lighting stacked on top of one another!
MY GOD I CAN'T EVEN FIT THEM ALL ON-SCREEN AT ONCE IS THIS TOO MANY? I WOULDN'T KNOW, I HARDLY KNOW WHAT I'M DOING
But it turned out looking not bad, so whatever works I guess.

You have to get up pretty early in the morning to lead your gift horse across that burnt bridge but you can’t make a watched horse eat all your cans of worms in one basket
I travel to the past to assure Harlow Jr that things will be ok but we end up just nerding out together.
Some notes:
- Yes, I did have the very odd hobby of photographing and cataloging car tail-lights. I used to get in trouble all the time for walking up peoples driveways to photograph the backs of their cars. The Datsun 120Y coupe with its horizontally louvred lights is still my favourite!
- The “Banana Time" pyjamas are totally real - my mum hand-embroidered Andy Warhol’s banana art on the front and added ‘banana time’ for some reason. I loved those PJs and wore them until they fell to pieces. I’ll share a photo if I can find one.
- I was a complete Star Wars tragic as a child. I taped the original movie when it came out on tv and constantly re-watched it until the tape wore out.
- My sister sent me that photo of me in a yellow dress a few years back and it cracked my egg wide open. Seeing it made me realise what I’d been denying all my life.
- I stand by opinion on Disney Star Wars (with the exception of Madalorian S1 and also Andor, which is too good for Star Wars.) Fight me!
- Hideous brown wood-panelling walls were absolutely dé rigueur in the late 70s. I wish I still had that original Star Wars poster - it’d be worth a mint nowadays.
Despite the jokey tone of the comic, making it has been quite the cathartic experience. I hope you enjoyed it!
I’m hoping that this is as “angry” as I’ll get with a comic, but given how the world is shaping up politically at the moment, I fear that might not be the case.
It’s been incredibly eye opening to witness the degree to which some people I know are willing to bury their heads in the sand in order to avoid the reality of the awful things that are happening around them. Awful things that they were told were going to happen.
In America, people are being black bagged and shipped off to El Salvador without due process to be held indefinitely in prisons, with the current administration now making social media posts cruelly boasting that they’ll never return.
Make no mistake, if people are being kidnapped by the government, given no due process, and are shipped to a foreign nation to be held in prison with no intention to give them any legal recourse, we need to call these prisons what they are:
They are death camps.
The United States of America is rounding up “undesirables” and sending them to death camps.
There are people in this country that voted for this. No matter how nice they otherwise seem or claim to be, these people are evil to the core.
There are also people who didn’t vote for this, but do provide social validation and acceptance to those who did.
If you are someone who thinks you’re against fascism, but you also accept fascists in your life, you are a fascist.
There can be no acceptance of intolerance. In the comic, the person I’m lampooning is the “Fake Trans Ally”, but you can swap out “trans” for any other group of marginalized people. Frankly, just call this person “The Fake Ally.”
If you’re someone reading this and feel attacked because I’m calling you a fake ally, it’s time to do some soul searching. When the history books are written about this period of American history, are you going to be someone who was unambiguously against hatred, or were you someone that treated hate as acceptable?
Were you someone that invited hatred into your home?
Were you someone that shared a meal with hatred?
Were you someone that allowed hatred a safe haven?
If you’re someone that does that, you yourself are hateful.
When you accept hate, you do so at the expense of those who are the target of that hatred.
Be better, our lives depend on it.
