Jaune: N-No, ma'am.

Glynda: (Looks at her watch) There is still time for what's left of your detention. Would you like to leave early, or get an extra lesson in?

Jaune: Uh, actually, I had a question, since it's just us here.

Glynda: Oh?

Jaune: I-I was wondering why you were so angry today. I mean, you really, uh, cracked the whip on us with our studies.

Glynda: Hm. (Looks around, Walks towards Jaune) Do you promise not to say anything to anyone?

Jaune: Uh, yeah, I promise, Professor.

Glynda: (Standing next to Jaune) Are you certain? If I hear even the smallest whisper of what we speak of-

Jaune: I-I won't! Arc's word!

Glynda: Very well. (Sits down next to Jaune) I suppose my recent... lack of tolerance is the result of a lack of... intimacy in my personal life.

Jaune: Like dating?

Glynda: Yes, or rather what follows dating.

Jaune: O-Oh! (Blushes) Y-You mean, uh, sex, right?

Glynda: (Rolls her eyes) A relationship, Mr. Arc. I crave a kinship with another.

Jaune: Oh, s-sorry! Um, well, have you tried dating?

Glynda: ...No, Mr. Arc. I've been sitting around in my office for years because I love my job more than anything.

Jaune: Oh, well, that explains-

Glynda: Sarcasm, Mr. Arc.

Jaune: Oh. Well, what about one of the other professors?

Glynda: Even if there weren't a rule against inter-office romances, I would engage any of the men here.

Jaune: Really? Not even Headmaster Ozpin?

Glynda: Let's just say he's still dealing with his ex.

Jaune: Oh. Well, what about Professor Port?

Glynda: I'm yearning, Mr. Arc, not desperate.

Jaune: Okay, then how about Professor Oobleck?

Jaune: Wow... Well, what about Headmaster Ironwood? He's not a faculty member.

Glynda: No, but James isn't interested in a relationship. A shame, too, since that man is in more dire need of a distraction than any man I've ever known.

Jaune: Okay, then how about Ol-

Glynda: Jaune, I'm going to be honest with you. (Removes her glasses) You are the closest thing to a man in my life, and that is so pathetic, I could just... (Places her head on the desk and begins sobbing)

I’ve always loved a theory I saw that the vault isn’t even in Beacon either.

It’s in the Emerald Forest Ruin.

There’s some logic to support this, but it isn’t concrete:

The relic of choice getting hidden right under the spot where where partnered students choose their teammates.

The relic draws grim to it. The forest has more grim than we ever saw in the wild in Anima, for instance. But it would be regularly cleared out by students training in it.

The forest is wired up with cameras, supposedly just to monitor initiation, but Grimm Eclipse up and calls it a security system.

It’s not perfect, but I do love the idea.

Beacon’s Vault

So we know that the Relic of Choice is hidden differently to other relics, but I think I may have an idea on whereabouts it may be, or at least the door to it.

There’s a lot we can discern from the Vault under Haven Academy and later Atlas Academy. Each Vault is accessible via a tall, thin trapezium door which is unlocked by the touch of a maiden.

The Spring Vault is that of a dreamlike desert landscape, a single biome that stretches to the Horizon - a pocket dimension of sorts. The fact that it is a desert is to make it abundantly clear that this is not part of Haven, nor even Mistral.

I would say it’s easiest to assume that Atlas and Vacuo’s vaults have similarly contrasting biomes to the kingdoms they’re housed in - for example, Atlas’s may be a green forest, while Vacuo’s might be comprised of waterfalls and lakes. Being magical, these vaults probably aren’t beholden to the whims of time and therefore likely stay as they are, year around.

You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this.

Each vault is an almost unnatural biome.

Each vault stands out against its home kingdom.

The vaults probably don’t change based on natural-world time.

Now where have we seen something like that around Beacon?

Oh yeah, Forever Fall.

There’s a place in Vale that is noted to literally be always Fall. Not beholden to the passage of seasons or time, for no particular explained reason. (Unless…)

Volume 3 shows us fall, and its trees aren’t as bright red as Forever Fall’s are - they’re a more natural orange. Volume 1 makes a point of showing us this place twice, once in the Black Trailer and again in the Jaunedice arc, and yet never explains why it’s how it is. Jaunedice could have just as easily (if not more easily due to budget) occurred in the Emerald Forest again. But they choice to show us Forever Fall.

Forever Fall. Beacon’s vault needing the Fall Maiden. Forever Fall looking somewhat more fantasy than the rest of Remnant.

I’m not sure whether Beacon’s vault is located in Forever Fall, or if it is Forever Fall, or if it’s even goddamn open already and has leaked out into Forever Fall, but it’s something to do with goddamn Forever Fall.

Now I’m just imagining an AU where Winter decides that if she’s going to be the maiden, she should probably get a partner/bodyguard to keep her from getting Amber’d.

And here comes Mr.Tall, Blond, and Sturdy. A bit undertrained, but strong and smart and loyal in all the ways she’d need to start with. If Weiss and her team’s stories were reliable. She’d have little trouble turning him into a huntsman a cut above most.

The fact that many of the Civilian Inquiries asking after his performance emphasizes him being ‘wonderful with children’ and ‘husband material’ is just an added bonus.

Jaune: ugh man what a workout

Winter: (leaning against the wall) please dont stop on my account.
