Researchers created a test to determine which masks are the least effective

Schools are reopening, amusement parks are welcoming back visitors, and outdoor dining is the new way to eat out. But despite the signs that life is returning back to normal, the coronavirus pandemic has gone nowhere.

“The most effective mask was the fitted N95. Three-layer surgical masks and cotton masks, which many people have been making at home, also performed well.

Neck fleeces, also called gaiter masks and often used by runners, were the least effective. In fact, wearing a fleece mask resulted in a higher number of respiratory droplets because the material seemed to break down larger droplets into smaller particles that are more easily carried away with air. Folded bandanas and knitted masks also performed poorly and did not offer much protection.”

Just learned that Caster Semenya lost her legal battle and I’m so fucking sad. this is such a huge loss for intersex people in sports and sets a real fucking dangerous precedent that essentially excludes all intersex people from participating in sports unless they go through (unconsensual) HRT. the blatent racism and intersexism that the court is showing is fucking despicable and I’m so fucking upset. 

i’m also really fucking suspicious that the ONLY people talking about intersexism in the context of this legal descision are intersex people. even when this is BLATENTLY and obviously intersexist like, perisex people refuse to recognize it. and that’s fucking disappointing. i know there isn’t much awareness or solidairty with us, but still. it’s not a big ask to ask y’all to do the bare minimum of explicitly calling intersexism out for what it is.  perisex people fucking do better.

Jennifer Hudson Lands Historic EGOT Status At The 2022 Tony Awards

The soon-to-be talk show host made history as the third Black EGOT winner to achieve the honor.

The songstress and producer, who has an Emmy, Grammy and Oscar, became the 17th member of the esteemed EGOT titleholders after “A Strange Loop” won Best New Musical.

Hudson also made history as the third Black EGOT winner to take the crown, and the fifth woman to receive the distinction.
