I’m a bit new to this fandom so I’m sure it’s been brought up before-
But one thing that sticks out to me and that I appreciate is the way the Tardis walls for the 9th and 10th Doctors look similar to the Daleks. And I think this is a really cool choice (that I think is intentional) that shows just how traumatized, depressed, and angry they are as a result of the Time War and their extreme loneliness.
I know the roundels aren’t exactly new to Tardis walls, but the exact spacing, color scheme, lighting, and the way they are segmented is uncanny. And even the center console from the top down looks a lot like the Dalek’s camera with the ringed disks surrounding the tube.
question for writers, after you first get an idea for something you want to write, but before you’re actually writing any actual prose for it, when you are thinking about/imagining how a scene would go do you think in the actual words and phrasing you might use to write out that scene, or do you think about scenes more like you’re watching or directing a movie and then you have to translate what you’re visualizing into prose? if that makes sense. and feel to further explain your answer to me in replies if I’m off

Doctor Who is just a story about an alien with a human fetish who spends a lot of time aggrandizing humanity and protecting them from various threats while leaving his own planet and all its inhabitants to die in a horrible war which he likely could have stopped (based on all the times he's protected humans from similar sized threats) but he decided to run away to spend more time with his humans instead. And he just keeps getting older and sadder because he keeps falling in love with humans who eventually die because they are not immortal like him, but he never learns a thing about anything. Live, love, lose. Over and over in eternity. He can't even kill himself because he's constantly brought back to life by his sheer erotic attachment to these awful puny creatures. I mean, the guy doesn't even know his own real name! What a loser. Can't believe anyone would ever want to watch a show about him. Me, on the other hand
Nine and Rose are so constantly holding each other's hands. I think there's only like one episode in that season where they don't have the chance to. Physical touch is a love language for them and I will NOT hear any arguments. My friend said "I think they'd live in each other's skin if given the chance" and ISTG that's such an accurate take
Why does everyone seem to forget that Nine/Rose is the reason for Ten/Rose? I just saw a post about someone who didn't like Ten/Rose being romantic as if it appeared first, as if the reason that Ten/Rose is romantic is because he suddenly changed and fell in love with her. He didn't. Nine loved her first. Nine is the entire reason Ten loves Rose. Nine. Nine was head over heels in love with Rose. Didn't have to mean he was sexually attracted to her because you can be in love without being in lust. RTD pitch for Doctor/Rose was that he was in love with her. Full stop. Love is fantastic, ya'll. The Doctor loved all of his companions in his way. Every single one. Five died in order to keep Peri alive, not that he was in love with Peri but he loved her. You wouldn't sacrifice yourself for someone you didn't care about. There's a reason the Doctor has two hearts. You can't hold as much love as he can with just one.

do you ever think about how blessed we are to have audios of all the missing doctor who episodes? like, fuck, there's shows from the 50s and 60s with absolutely nothing left at all. we can experience them both audibly and visually, with telesnaps and promo photos. we're fucking lucky

Watching the First Doctor for the first time, and it’s wild how different he is at the start. Very “we mustn’t interfere, we’re just observers of history” energy. All stiff coat, no meddling. But then—he fakes a busted fluid link just so they have to explore the city? He’s not above poking the universe when it suits him.
He’s curious, definitely. Almost childishly so. But unless it directly involves Susan being in danger, he’s surprisingly hands-off. Cold, even. It’s like he’s treating the universe as a lab experiment and he’s the guy behind the glass.
What’s interesting is—I always assumed, since he and Susan stole the TARDIS and we know he was kind of a disaster at the Academy, that he was just a bad Time Lord. Like, the rebel from the start. But watching him now? It’s kind of clear he still buys into a lot of their ideals. The whole “we observe, we don’t interfere” mindset? That’s textbook Time Lord. He's not so much a rebel as he is a rule-follower with an itchy curiosity.
And that’s where Barbara and Ian come in. And by extension, Susan—who, let’s be real, is clearly picking up her worldview more from them than from her grandfather.
Barbara and Ian don’t just observe. They care. They intervene. They ask questions like “Why is this happening?” and then go do something about it. They push back when the Doctor tries to stay detached. They hold him accountable.
And the more I watch, the more I think they're why the Doctor changes. They don’t just travel with him—they teach him how to be better.
Which is kind of hilarious when you think about it. All it took to corrupt this ancient, immortal time traveler was two schoolteachers and his granddaughter.
