ALMOST
i keep repeating,
i almost cried.
shit i almost cried.
but that’s the luxury of healing.
shit’s really like the moon,
not linear, strong as fuck and will whip your ass if you need it.
she’s beautiful but the tough love is strong.
like how people love water when it can kill us so easily,
healing is subjective.
the beauty it carries is stressfully intense and comforting.
when you heal,
you feel glorious,
powerful,
un-fucking-matched.
ohh but when you go through it,
you feel like the ground when a tsunami hits.
so when i say, i ALMOST cried…
that is me acknowledging that I ME AND ONLY ME did that shit.
i healed myself multiple times,
through all the emotionally unavailable,
through the family trauma,
through the terrorism by fucking kids.
I did that, ME.
and almost will always be my power card
and YOU will not make me hate my almost be unappreciated.
Movies about black trauma is literally mockery and I hate it
Hollywood just loves to see us for entertainment
I agree--and I say this as I was jamming to the Candyman soundtrack. But I think folks saw Jordan Peele's take on horror and ran with it. But even before then, we've had so much of media focused on black pain. It's devastating.
I can't wait for the next generation.
And in general I want more exposure for dark skinned black women.
What the media won't show
Don't forget about the Palestinians.
Don't forget about them now.
Don't forget about them tomorrow.
Don't forget about them in a week from now.
Don't forget about them in a month.
Don't forget them next year.
Don't forget them in 5 years.
When the history books start to update, don't let them put lies in there.
When documentaries come out, boycott the ones who call this a victory for Israel.
When books release talking about soldier's personal experiences with Palestine, remember the victims. Remember the truth.
Don't forget about what we've seen.
Don't forget about what we've heard.
Don't let them tell lies about Palestine.
Don't forget about the Palestinians when the world tries to make this go away.
Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.
This looks like a warehouse in which each person is a box on a shelf.
I don't care what these people did. No one deserves this. The only criminals are the people who put them here.
Can I get a standing ovulation? 🧏🏽♀️

Do not let hopelessness sink in, do not let that fear and doomed mentality take hold. That is what these people want, they want you to feel hopeless and alone. Because the hopeless and broken are easy to control, turn that sadness and fear into the things they cannot break. Turn it into anger, righteous fury and hatred towards the system and what it has done. Turn it into the love you have for yourself and each other, a love for friends or family or a loved one or you community, or even for the hope of a better world
The fire in your heart must keep you warm when the world is as cold as it is. I know it feels like we have all been knocked down, but I need you all to stand back up, to rise. Let that grief turn into a burning anger or love or whatever drives you. stand up and stand proud, and spit in the face of this world and tell it that if it wants you to just lay down and die, then you will fight as hard as you possibly can. That if it is to have it's victory over you, let it be a hard fought one till the end
Whether you find the strength to continue from your community, your faith, your family, your friends, your love, your hate, however you find it doesn't matter, what Matters is that you find this strength and continue to live on and live as best you can.
I understand that life feels scary and hopeless right now, but know that no matter what happens. There may be people who hate you and want you to suffer, but there are also people who love you and want you to live on and be happy. Maybe it's a lover, a friend, family, your community. But even if you think you have nobody, your wrong.
Because I love you, each and every one of you. And I hope that you all continue to live on and be happy and choose to live on despite the fears and dread. Know that there is always at least one person who loves you.
Keep strong, have a warm meal, and cherish the good in this world, and know that there are people who love you and are proud of you
