Another Bookwyrm! This time it's everyone's favourite big, blue sister! Saphira from Inheritance Cycle 💙
Like seriously. Wolves we see in movies and media… Not how wolves behave. At all.
1. A lone wolf is cool, strong and, something to strive to be. FALSE.
Lone wolves have either lost, left or been pushed out of a pack. They are likely starving, lonely and/or looking for a new family or mate. Wolves are highly social and need companionship. They don’t want to be alone.
2. An alpha wolf is the biggest, baddest wolf in the pack who fights for their position. FALSE.
There are TWO Alpha wolves in a pack. They are mom and dad, the oldest and usually the smartest cause they have experienced the most. They are usually more timid and less likely to put themselves in danger because they are the only wolves in the pack that breed. If they die, the rest of the family will likely loose their way and eventually break apart.
Biggest wolves are usually the ‘betas’ who are children of the alphas (cause most everyone in the pack are puppies from mom and dad) and are generally more likely to investigate.
3. Wolves are brave and will hunt down intruders to there territory. FALSE.
Wolves are HUGE scaredy cats. They are naturally neophobic after about 6months to a year. Something new and different shows up in there territory, they are likely to avoid or keep their distance. They are NOT going to attack unless food or puppies are involved. They are great at communicating and you will know you need to back off long before you are in danger. This also means that no, that ‘wolf dog’ is not going to be a loyal and protective pet.
4. Wolves adopt. This is true.
Wolves are puppy crazy. Like they love puppies (for the most part) and its very common for packs to adopt puppies into their family. No issues with breeding cause, only mom and dad are allowed to do that. this is a way that puppies breed in captivity have been introduced to the wild, by being left near known nursing females and the pack will often come find them and bring them home. You want to known how much they love puppies? Wolves will give up their own meals to make sure puppies get fed first. Wolves can gorge themselves on up to 20lb of food and have been seen regurgitating for puppies and pregnant mothers.
Please stop demonizing wolves.
Like look at these idiots. I love them so much. Stand up too fast and you scary. That thing that touched the ground, its mine now. They want your shirt and you say no so they growl, tickle their tongue and they are just like WHY!? Trust a growling wolf way more than a dog any day. (All these guys live at a sanctuary for captive born and rescued wolves)

Cars wouldn't be the thing to shock him the most let's be honest
i'm working on a pullman analysis roundup and i've decided to incorporate jungian archetypes into understanding forms, just as a mechanism to help people start selecting what broader animal class/order/genus would be associated with them. there's also going to be specificity on region/biome and then specific associations with that animal, but the series places significance on even the type of animal you would symbolically have: servants with domestic dogs, for instance. to help people get familiar with the archetypes, what you might be, and what forms are good starting place considerations, i decided to run a little series on the different archetypes with an overview of four forms that would fit each.
this first series is on the espiritual journey archetypes: ones who are idealistic and yearn for paradise.
THE INNOCENT: sincere, optimistic, naïve
the innocent is a gentle individual who enjoys harmony and the simple things. they are led by a sense of compassion and open-mindedness, often also characterized as naïve or too soft-hearted. they are usually described as dreamers, nostalgic, and children at heart. the daemons of these types of people are therefore likely to be prey animals and also are more likely to be a domesticated species than most other archetypes. if this resonates with you, consider some of these forms as a starting place:
the domestic sheep is kind-hearted, docile, and wants to be a part of the group. they are easily led and manipulated, though also have themes of providing and nurturing. pastoral and/or religious significance likely plays a part in this person's life.
the red panda is withdrawn, gentle, and compromising. they value peace in their own lives and preserve their stability. they have an inner strength but aren't always taken seriously and are more consistently underestimated.
the rabbit is innocent, anxious, and self-preserving. they have an element of internal imagination and deep themes to fertility and creation. these people can be more fantastical and difficult to follow in their personal journey.
the deer is observant, protective, and nurturing. they are deeply connected to the forest and often implicated to preside over it, also giving this person an air of nobility and patience. even still, they are connected to the hunt, suggesting martyrism or loss of innocence.
THE SAGE: intelligent, observant, withdrawn
the sage is a contemplative individual who seeks understanding and the truth. they emphasize enlightenment in the self and letting go of judgment to better make sense of the world, though they can be so removed from practicality they become rigid and dogmatic. the daemons of these types of people seem to often be patient, opportunistic predators or types of birds, though there are long-standing associations with which animals we consider to be symbolically wise. if this resonates with you, consider some of these forms as a starting place:
the snake is secretive, cunning, and transformative. they are often paired with themes of rebirth and the cycle of life/death in the way they shed their skin. there is a negative reputation to their intelligence, characterized as self-serving and untrustworthy.
the ibis is mysterious, adaptive, and wise. their association with thoth is cardinal to their interpretation, and they consistently have old soul and historic themes attributed to them. they are cunning and move with change.
the snow leopard is powerful, observant, and spiritual. apex predators are also associated with the ruler archetype and the snow leopard certainly commands its area of intellect. they are mysterious, frigid but philosophical.
the owl is regal, academic, and wise. they have themes of perception and seeing through the dark or the "untruth", but their attribution with death and departed souls gives them an eerie or unconventional vibe.
the EXPLORER: adventurous, enthusiastic, restless
the explorer is a self-driven individual who craves freedom and independence. they are perpetually seeking to be satisfied and desire to escape the confines of a normal life. this quest may result in them finding themselves perpetually dissatisfied or disappointed in themselves. the daemons of these types of people are often migratory birds or other animals, or species that have attempted to be tamed such as unbridled symbolism with the wild horse. if this resonates with you, consider some of these forms as a starting place:
the albatross is dignified, persevering, and free. they are intrinsically linked to symbols of journeys as well as the sea and its coasts. their motifs are often connected to weathering storms and hailing messages, whether it be of bad weather or close shores.
the horse is spirited, compassionate, and righteous. while they often lend themselves in service to others, they just as often follow their own heart and choose loyalties carefully. they are a free spirit, not one to look behind them.
the bluebird is joyful, optimistic, and inspired. they intersect with the innocent as well as bringers of happiness, though they do not linger where they land. they have motifs of spring and renewal, and pursuing joy without regret.
the dolphin is playful, perceptive, and intelligent. they demonstrate a free heart and deep compassion for those around them, though their joyous laughter doesn't lend itself to taking things too seriously. their chief symbols are with water, the ocean, and emotion.
