Revisiting ofmd and realizing I am exactly like stede:I will leave my soulmate because I am under too much pressure and I think I bring out the worse version of them, I will avoid all conversations and run away, and I will somewhere in the future come back and want nothing to change from the relationship we had before. I am one of the ‘avoid any conflict’ and ‘please leave me alone I need to flee away and think maybe have a little break from everything because my brain is slow and I have yet to process anything and everything is changing to fast and I want the old routine’ type of guy. Also I am a coward when it comes to relationships and I am terrible at communication.

I enjoy Az already realising he likes Crowley by the time Adam appears but hasn't yet worked out what to do with that information bc acts-of-service Crowley Can't Talk, Wont Talk.

Crowley on the other hand has been VERY GOOD at ignoring why he spends so much of his time around Az so only on the crux of YOU'RE GOING TO LOOSE HIM did anything manage to force its way through to his brain. (i did not enjoy crowley being told he was in love with az in s2, i think he could have worked it out himself)

i rly enjoy hcs where they started sleeping together and with humans for fun (i mean the ox ribs scene sets some v good precedent for this) az sleeps with humans bc he indulges! he likes pleasure! crowely on the other hand is very bad at catching feelings and doesnt like it when they die so has mostly only slept with az (did i mention he's VERY good at ignoring his feelings) but they probably haven't slept together for a few hundred years when adam pops up.

my compliant show!hcs are still that az knows he loves crowley (i mean the scene with jim where he leaps out of the chair to attempt to protect crowley saying no he defo doesnt know ANYONE who he feels that way with, don't look closely at anyone he is with) and is just sort of sitting on it still, waiting for any hint from crowley, planning a ball definitely only for humans and no other reason. Crowley is obviously very protective of Az but he still hasn't clicked why he's worried about him but he doesn't have the excuse of heaven or hell anymore so it wouldn't have taken much for him to work it out (hello one of his first lines in s2 is "you ever think, what's the point?" the point is love you idiot)

(book!gomens is just they're already married and have been fucking for centuries but the book just doesnt mention that.)

A silly little Dance

“May I say, that my chapeau looks rather … daft on you? You could at least put it on how it belongs!” Aziraphale teased him while he eyed the top of Crowley’s head.

“Pfft, don’t wanna ruin my hair. You know how much pomade it takes to get it slick like this?”

A crooked smile curled up his demonic lips as he let go of Aziraphale’s hand to adjust the hat on the angel’s head that had started to tilt dangerously, as if the stubborn curls wanted to get back into their preferred shape. As he finished adjusting the hat, his hand trailed off without his intervention – and well, somehow, he managed to cup the angel’s face with his palm. In shock he froze. Why did he do that for? He didn’t mean to do so. Alcohol. Must been the alcohol! The alcohol that left his corporation now in panic, back to the bottles where it couldn’t interfere with his actions anymore. Oh shit.

Their gazes interlocked and suddenly the whole seriousness of their dance seemed to shift. And to his biggest confusion – Aziraphale stared at him for a long moment, but then he smiled. But not his normal, polite smile or the smirk from earlier this evening. No. It was the kind of smile that made his eyes twinkle like little stars. The light of the candles that reflected in his gaze didn’t make it better. Oh shit. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.

His now sober mind didn’t help either. The really slow, very much too romantic track playing didn’t either.

He was fucked. And he was smitten. A lot. By this silly angel with his silly curls and this silly hat and this silly smile and these silly feelings that he created by just existing in Crowley’s presence.

“A-Angel, I-“ he started to apologize, but his voice betrayed him by dying off nonchalantly, as he felt the angel lean softly into the touch and wrapping his hand tenderly around the demon’s wrist. Crowley blinked nervously and a sudden longing filled his being. Something he suppressed for so long he just forgot it was there.

He swallowed nervously and felt the heat rushing into his cheeks as he leaned forward a tiny bit, to test his luck – to see if what he was hoping to happen would correspond with reality. Aziraphale didn’t pull back. He didn’t even flinch. Nothing of that usual nervousness and anxiety whenever the demon came too close. His eyes only gleamed brighter. “May … may I … ngkh … may I kiss you?”

Thinking about how similar yet how different Max and Rachel are...

Rachel is obviously destructive and impulsive in some ways, whether it's intentional or not, but so is Max! She does fix things a lot in the game, or at least tries to, but there are various occasions where she can act upon destructive desires mainly thanks to her newfound powers. For example, she immediately decides to blow up the doorknob to the principal's office when she can't find a key with Chloe and the latter can't pick the lock open. She can also spill Frank's beans onto the ground unprovoked. These are minor examples, but the greatest one of course is the Bae>Bay ending where she quite literally lets a tornado swallow up her entire childhood town to keep her best friend (girlfriend?) from dying. Her very powers are associated with the chaos theory. She says herself in her dream: "You're a goddam hypocrite. You've left a trail of death and suffering behind you.". She also says later in the game: "I can't keep fixing everything, if all I'm gonna do is just break it, over and over again!" Sure, this is her low self esteem and slight self loathing talking (as well as her having a normal reaction to the awful situation she's been put into), but the words have some merit if you look into them. Her powers, seemingly designed to fix things, seem to just make everything worse or break something else instead.

Meanwhile, Rachel turns a small, controlled burning of a picture into a forest fire. She spikes Victoria's drink on one occasion to keep her role in a play. She throws a bottle near Chloe in a junkyard in anger. She develops a self destructive drug usage habit. I'd argue her relationship with dangerous, older men is self destructive. Her difficulty with communication adds a chaotic element to her and Chloe's relationship (even though she's by far not the only guilty party involved). She breaks a table when her pent up anger towards her father escapes containment. She's associated with fire and the storm. There's obviously nuance to her actions, which is why I mentioned them being intentional or not at the start, but it doesn't erase their destructive or impulsive nature.

Now, I use the terms "destructive" and "impulsive" loosely here. And obviously, most of the examples I provided for Rachel are a lot more extreme than the ones I provided for Max, but I still think I got my point across. They both cause chaos, destruction, and disharmony around them, mostly guided by their feelings and what they consider to be "right" or "wrong", "deserved", "necessary", etc. And if the theory about Rachel being the one to grant Max her powers is true, then destruction links them together even more.

Furthermore, they're both young women onto whom destiny shoves great burdens and seems to play painfully ironic games with: Rachel must maintain her perfect appearance despite her unstable and crumbling sense of identity and freedom and the sudden revelation of her family's past, and she ends up an aspiring model dying horribly in a dark room; Max unlocks super powers out of the blue one day and tried to do good with them, but as she figures them out she ties them (and by consequence, herself) to a deadly approaching tornado without mentioning the extremely traumatic events she goes through in a matter of a week, and ends up having to decide whether to sacrifice an entire town or her closest friend.

And most importantly of all: they are both trapped by or in Arcadia Bay, albeit in differing ways. Rachel's case is more obvious: she's literally, physically trapped due to her family's unwillingness to move and her inability to leave alone, which is especially suffocating for her free spirit, and she's also metaphorically trapped by heavy expectations from everyone around her, feeling like she has no room to define herself.... herself. She's buried in the town's junkyard after years of dreaming of freedom. Max physically leaves/"escapes" Arcadia Bay as a child with her move (though she didn't especially want to), and does go back voluntarily, but is almost immediately chained to the very fate of the place and its people out of nowhere. I'd also argue that her past with Chloe and the guilt she feels because of it also traps a part of her in Arcadia for a long time. And after the ending, no matter what she chooses, Arcadia Bay will never let her go for the rest of her life.

«I am alone, in the cold and aseptic rooms of Heaven and all my thoughts are far from holiness... was it the ultimate temptation? Or will it be the cause of my fall? Because, oh Lord, I shouldn’t… but I can't help but remember. I can’t stop myself from putting my hand to my lips to relive the memory.

Will you notice my thoughts, God, and make me fall? I think I would be strong enough to bear it. Long ago I feared that I had become a demon for defying Your will. But now I know. I’ve seen so much and I’ve understood it can be goodness and kindness in demons as well as wickedness in angels. I might challenge Your judgment now, for something I feel right.

But him? Would he still want me if I wasn’t the way I am? He calls me “Angel”... but what if I wasn’t? Would he love my demonic features like I love his yellow eyes? Would he keep coming back for me? I think I could bear everyone's judgement, including Yours, but if he looked at me differently... this would be too much and then, only then, I would really fall.»
