30 Day Comic Book Challenge Day Fourteen: Current Comic-Themed Wallpaper

My current wallpaper is a piece by the lovely Marcio Takara (Link) of the heroine Captain Marvel. I have long been a fan of Carol Danvers, and Mr. Takara’s piece really captures everything I love about the look. Since I don’t know what else to say for this post, what follows is my analysis of the piece and why I love it.

First off, I’m a huge fan of Marcio Takara. The man can draw really pretty pictures, and if you check out this tumblr you’ll see his versatility. This piece shows his use of color, really making the uniform of the newly minted Captain Marvel pop. In fact, I would go so far as to say that this is one of my favorite colorings of the uniform, giving it a realism you don’t often see.

In addition, the grace of the pose highlights both the femininity of the character as well as the power she commands. You look at Captain Marvel here and you see somebody who will mess you up good if you don’t follow the law.

However, my favorite part of the commission is the way that Takara draws Carol’s hair. My favorite part of the redesign from Ms. Marvel to Captain Marvel is the re-imagining of Carol’s hair, making her more distinct and recognizable in the line-up of Marvel’s finest. Here, Takara takes it a step further and makes it clear that Carol isn’t just using some fancy hair gel and that she’s got a fresh cut to go with her fresh outfit. Pretty slick.

Kim’s not mad- in the contrary. She’s more than willing to show Hannah a bit around in this unfamiliar enviroment. And when the women part ways after buying their things, Hannah decides to gather all her courage to ask Kim on a date. One thing leads to another, weeks pass and suddenly the two of them are in a relationship. After the bad break-up with her long-term boyfriend and moving to another town later on, Hannah generally feels a bit low. And it sounds like a big cliché, but all that changes when she and Kim crash together in a grocery store.

My going rate is $5 for 1000 words. How it works: You choose how much you want to pay, and I cap myself at that many words. The maximum I will be tentatively putting on things is 10,000 words but if you are open and interested in more, I will certainly do my best to deliver.

If, in the case I absolutely fall in love with the story and can’t put it down at your cap, I will continue it on my own, free of charge. So if you want super long fics you best come up with something that tickles my fancy, hahaha.
