I love how people who hate the idea of Gwen and Miles being together cuz they're interracial "couple" always forget that Miles is a child of interracial couple
STOP hating Gwen!
Jeez, we are in the 21st century and you still project misogyny on a minor character who was a product of her environment!
If she was a boy, I bet, everyone would excuse his actions on spot. She was 16 year old brainwashed girl, trained to save the whole world, not only just one person. She was under the influence of Jess and Miguel, who also are superheroes, not normal persons. They were the closest thing she had as family. They taught her that duty comes first.
You blame her for everything, you put her against spiderbite and you claim she's the bad guy here. Where's Miguel's hate?
If you don't like her generally, that's fine, but those whose reasons are that she broke Miles heart and she lied to him, are misogynists. She is her own character and you should see her as that. She isn't surrounded only by Miles'existence. She made mistakes, she realized it, she is on her way to fix everything. She stood up.
And don't go with "Spiderbite helped Miles immediately", because I am gonna crash out.
Margo wasn't at the mercy of Miguel and Jess. She didn't need them. Gwen did. She needed a home, a hideout, because her own father wanted to arrest her or even shoot her. She didn't have anywhere to go. So, of course, Margo would help Miles as fast as she did. She is a good person with nothing holding her back. Gwen has many reasons to think twice before she acts on her own. But she did, and stood up. From the start she told Jess that her gut says that they are wrong, but Jess dismissed her. She was feeling that they were making a mistake and when she fully realized it, she risked it and turned against Miguel.
So, please, before you go hate on Gwen just because she "betrayed" Miles think again what says about you and your critical thought.
And for God's sake, don't compare Gwen with Margo or the other way around. Respect both characters for their own unique traits.
The amount of people that reduce Jude Duarte's character to being a bloodthirsty killer gets on my nerves. Jude is not bloodthirsty, she doesn't delight in killing people. She is trying to survive in a world that is not meant for mortals, a world that wants to break her.
She forgave Taryn and disguised herself to save Taryn after she killed Locke, took pity for Cardan when seeing him get hit by Balekin, saving the human girl Sophie and cried herself to sleep after she died, and went to save the Ghost even though he betrayed her (yes, I know the reason behind his betrayal).
Every time she takes a life, it's because that person has tried to hurt her back.
Valerian tried to kill her in Chapter 18 when he broke into her home. Jude stabs him in the chest but still tries to help him afterwards.
"He reaches for the blade as though to draw it out. Don't, I say automatically, because that will only make the wound worse. I grab for anything nearby-there is a discarded petticoat in the floor that I can use to stanch the blood. He slides down onto his side, away from me, and sneers, although he can barely open his eyes. You've got to let me-, I start." He despises her but even in his final moments, she wanted to help.
She has suffered so much in life and did things that she had to do to survive. And when she spills blood, it's not for fun. It's to protect herself or the people she loves.
Jude Duarte is not cruel like Balekin or Valerian or sees people as amusements like Locke. Jude is kind, selfless, and puts others before herself.
I love seeing her kick some ass but don't reduce her character to that. She's so much more.

Me when Jude Duarte:
Me when people reduce the complexity of her character to her being a killer (y'all don't get her like I do):
Why is everyone so upset about the idea of Jude having a baby ten years after the end of her story? You do know that a woman's personality and mind don't get vacuumed out when they get pregnant right? She wouldn't change into some simpering caricature with no agency, Sarah J Maas really did a number on you guys...
Family has always been a major theme in this series: Jude was motivated in the first book by a need to protect her little brother. There has never been any suggestion from her that she doesn't want children, only an expression early in the first book that she's scared to always be powerless, and even her fairy children would be able to be cruel to her, which speaks to her desire to find her own power not a genuine drive not to have children.
It's completely understandable to be tired of all your characters having the same end: marriage to a guy, crown, babies, but I don't think this one character's fate after the conclusion of this one fantasy/romance series is the hill to die on.
Anyway, I love the idea and every time I imagine Jude as a mother I think of Najwa Nimri's amazing performance in La Casa de Papel, it was sooo Jude
Jinx was holding her so soft here
Paulina: *in love with Danny Phantom*
Sam: "Only liking him for his power. Such an idiot! There's so much more than just his suit! Like his witness and perfect hair and heroic instinct-"
Danny: "I've just decided to be normal again! No more ghost fights or anything related to that! Just me being my old normal teenage self!"
Sam: "...."
Sam: "I'm out of here"
Valerie: "I can take him!"
I really enjoyed win or lose, and I love Laurie and Kaiās relationship, and the parallels in their anxiety. Also apparently their ship name is Goldilocks which I think is adorable! Anyway I decided to draw them as young adults!
Evangeline: *pretending she doesn't remember*
Evangeline: "Hi, good sir, do I know you?"
Jacks: "....."
Jacks: *starts crying*
Evangeline: "W-wait-"
"Pink goes good with Green."

lots of ppl have mixed opinions on cardan in the first book, which is fair, but me personally, just LOOK at how subtle he is at protecting her. and i donāt just mean when he stuck his foot in the water to scare the nixies away from jude when his buds threw her and Taryn in the river, i mean these:
This one, when he thinks that dains spies are about to beat Judeās ass over who gets the pretty prince, so he cautions her away from picking a fight w them. And thatās AFTER sheās kidnapped him LOOLLL
And this. really cute and subtle way of saying ābe careful babe!ā but he makes it seem sorta like an insult. like she would be wasting his time if she went and died. he keeps himself so well guarded so as to not get himself hurt again PLS. guys i am normal about him.
him reaching for her after he learned that valerian tried to kill her AGAIN. š i need him.
And then this one. imagine how he felt seeing her leave the tower covered in blood knowing that valerian was in there w her. and Hollys annotation here. yeah ok im so normal- this proves that he didnāt expect his cruelty to encourage valerians murdery lust for jude. to encourage Locke to take her as his prize, to encourage nicasia to humiliate the twins to get cardans and lockes favor.
AND DONT GET ME STARTED, on when heās drunk and his families been murdered and heās officially elfhames #1 most wanted and heās telling Jude to be careful, that she shouldnāt be at balekins evil little revel šš he worried more for her than he did himself.
and i could just GO ON. and i shall:
when he sends her a dress made for royalty opposed to one that made her look more like servant/ would allow Taryn to outshine her (she could never tho)
When he told Locke to piss off and began dancing w her when Locke was abt to tell her that heās been fuxking her sis the whole time.
When he saw her (canon according to Hollys annotations) after she stole Sophie (the human servant at hollow hall) and didnāt do or say anything AND PROBABLY EVEN TOOK THE FUCKING BLAMMMEEE IM SO SICK.
anyway Iām sure thereās more so feel free to add on š
But i just LOVE how cardan knows how jude is, the way that Taryn describes jude in her novella- as someone who doesnāt back down from a dare, who picks fights with anyone and everyone, who brings those that pick on her down to her level. he knows his wife so well, even in the first book, he knew her so much better than even her father. than ANYONE even Taryn. bc Taryn was all like āpromise youāll stop bothering them!ā Like do you KNOW who youāre talking to lmao
anyway I LOVE TYEMEMEMMEMEHSIAPS someone sedate me fr
