In America, poverty is a death sentence and Donald Trump and the Republican Party are slowly repealing The Affordable Care Act, making healthcare unaffordable once again. We need Medicare For All, and we need it now. No one should die because they can’t afford overpriced, profitized healthcare.

These are some of the people who needlessly died, just because they couldn’t afford healthcare. Unfortunately, as long as conservative politicians control congress, they won’t be the last.

the fact that the bourgeoisie often display class solidarity and have a set of shared class interests doesn't mean they can be treated as one undifferentiated agent -- and i think doing so will make you produce some very confusing and strange analyses of what's happening in the usa right now, which is imo one faction of an intrabourgeoisie power struggle emerging triumphant and benefiting themselves to the detriment of the class and us imperial project as a whole

Sure but that doesn't mean an argument that is just "this thing is old and thus good" isn't a conservative mindset. I still stand by my point of the idea of "this is what always happened" being a conservative mentality.

So, does the choice of being raped vs starvation really seem consensual and not dubious at all to you? What about, say a boss that withholds raises for sex? Also, sex work is unnecessary labor and exploitive/painful for the vast majority of workers, so what is the reason to keep it? I am against constant consumerist buying and sweatshops and child labor as well to be clear for similar reasons, it's unnecessary and worsens exploitation. Does stigmatizing buying off of Shein hurt sweatshop workers in your opinion? I don't think sex workers should be punished either to be clear, I think johns and pimps should, and sex workers should be helped back into professions that don't require getting raped daily you know.

I think a few surveys, but it is true that there's not much data on that specifically. There's quite a lot of data on rates of violence, sexual and not and it's like 50%. When I look it up, most of the statistics from surveying SWers are like 80-95% wanting to leave though.

Sure but wanting something to continue to exist because it's old is by definition conservative. If you want it to exist for some other reason DESPITE it being old then ok that's not. I still disagree regardless.

Amazing how defenses for sex work are both the "it's the world's oldest profession" quote from a colonizer (which is so blatantly untrue that I'm amazed that anyone believes that) and also "you're a conservative and want to control women if you think coercive rape is wrong" So is it an ancient practice that we need to conserve or something new and progressive

Wasn't the whole "scientific proof" of transgender identities being that trans people supposedly have a brain wired like the opposite sex (or I guess for nonbinary people, just atypically)? I saw that notion all over the place and actually believed it for some time. How else can it be innate if it's not related to brain structure/chemistry?

You can acknowledge gendered socialization being a thing and still prioritize educating women over men. It's much less of a uphill battle since feminism is already in women's interest more. If it benefited men equally, I don't doubt that radfems would put as much effort in educating men.

I would also think about separatism and the 4B movement kind of like a strike as well.

Same honestly. The way he wrote about the women in the book was also extremely creepy. Like... really you want us to root for the main character who fantasizes about raping and murdering a girl for... being part of some celibacy club? This is a deep work of art?

Also, quite frankly for a dystopian book it was just too over the top and didn't really have a unique message. like "bad stuff is bad" type of message. F451 was a bit better, the themes about mindless entertainment as a distraction was good but in other ways, it was also similar. Maybe I just don't get dystopian books but Brave New World was actually good in my opinion.
