be careful what you wish for Eddie
i rlly enjoy picturing kylo’s reign as supreme leader just being the most catastrophic thing ever like he goes to the bridge all calmly, cape on his shoulders, hair primped, and then he thinks about his girlfriend leaving him for two seconds and suddenly all of the consoles are broken a mouse droid got kicked across the room and like a few officers, a squad of stormtroopers, and general hux are all floating in the air in various states of torment, all clawing at their throats
have to read the entire APA code of ethics for class this week… gonna make it fun by highlighting every rule that hannibal has explicitly broken.

Don’t confuse my hatred of the hyperwealthy for jealousy over what they have. I don’t want a six figure sports car, or a 40 room mansion, or a gold leaf truffle wagyu steak dinner. I want redistribution of wealth that allows for infrastructural support of all citizens’ basic survival needs.
They’ve been watching a lot of cat videos lately.
It took me all of two days to read Written in Red and Murder of Crows, Anne Bishop’s (the author of the high fantasy Black Jewels series) take on the urban fantasy/paranormal genre. Since I can’t stop thinking about the books and I’m not quite ready to leave the world of Lakeside Courtyard and its terra indigene residents, it’s playlist time.
Inspired by Meg Corbyn fiddling with the radio in her office, trying to figure out which music she likes, and the songs that remind her of her world.
1 // written in red // first night in lakeside courtyard
strong // london grammar
Excuse me for a while While I’m wide-eyed And I’m so down caught in the middle

9 // written in red // the battle at lakeside courtyard
dirty paws // of monsters and men
And for a while things were cold; They were scared down in their homes. The forest that once was green Was colored black by those killing machines. But she and her furry friends Took down the queen bee and her men And that’s how the story goes, The story of the beast with those four dirty paws.

I’ve seen it in the flights of birds, I’ve seen it in you. The entrails of the animals, The blood running through. But in order to get to the heart, I think sometimes you’ll have to cut through.
17 // murder of crows // meg’s voicemail
set fire to the third bar // snow patrol & martha wainwright
After I have traveled so far We’d set the fire to the third bar We’d share each other like an island Until exhausted, close our eyelids And dreaming, pick up from The last place we left off
* This one is maybe a tad cheaty because Meg doesn’t see Ferrymans Landing in Murder of Crows, but Steve Ferryman and the Intuits clearly needed a happy song.
catch me cryin in the club I’m living for this couple

you should watch Hannah Gadsby’s special Nanette…..imo
hannah gadsby took the format of a 1 hour standup special and split it into 3 related acts: 1. do normal standup comedy jokes. funny. feminist. 2. riff extensively on art history. move back and forth between outrage at the patriarchy and hilarity. 3. critique the whole format of standup comedy, explain why she’s quitting her comedy career, and discuss her experiences as a survivor at the intersections of homophobia and misogyny with complete seriousness and sincerity. Woven in with stories from the “regular jokes” and “art history jokes” cast in a new light. will make you cry.
what a legend.
“Do you remember that story about that young man who almost beat me up? It was a very funny story. It was very funny, I made a lot of people laugh about his ignorance, and the reason I could do that is because I’m very good at this job. I actually am pretty good at controlling the tension. And I know how to balance that to get the laugh at the right place. But in order to balance the tension in the room with that story, I couldn’t tell that story as it actually happened. Because I couldn’t tell the part of the story where the man realized his mistake. And he came back. And he said “Oh, no, I get it. You’re a lady faggot. I’m allowed to beat the shit out of you.” And he did! He beat the shit out of me and nobody stopped him. And I didn’t… report that to the police, and I did not take myself to the hospital, and I should have. And you know why I didn’t? It’s because I thought that was all I was worth.
And that is what happens when you soak one child in shame, and give permission to another to hate. And that was not homophobia pure and simple, people. That was gendered. If I’d been feminine, that would not have happened. I am incorrectly female. I am incorrect, and that is a punishable offense.
And this tension, it’s yours. I am not helping you anymore. You need to learn what this feels like because this… this tension is what non-normals carry inside of them all of the time because it is dangerous to be different.”

can we, as a society, start to realize that having a phone does NOT mean you HAVE TO BE accsessible to anyone and everyone at ALL times??
My mom threw a fit at me for not answering my phone while i was at my friends place. Kinda hypocritical too, given how much she complains that “youth these days spend to much time on their phones”
My boss was very CLEARLY not satisfied that i only got back to his text hours after he sent it. My friend didnt speak to me for weeks once bc she thought we were having a FIGHT??? bc i didnt reply to her message on facebook? till the day after she sent it??
i HAVE a phone, that doesnt mean i HAVE TO BE availiable whenever ANYONE decides they want me to be???
what the fuck
can people stop assuming they are entiteled to my attention 24/7??
Eddie calls the Venom Symbiote “love” and “dear” multiple times, and calls the Symbiote his “other”.
The Symbiote considers their union as “just like marriage”.
The Symbiote, despite being at that time bonded to Mac Gargan, stopped Gargan from killing Eddie due to their long-time partnership.
The Symbiote had a baby while bonded to Eddie, kept the pregnancy secret, but communicated to Spider-Woman that Eddie was the one it trusted to raise its baby right. Many, including Venom, referred to Eddie as “the father”.
When separated by Venom’s other host and partner, Flash Thompson, Eddie and the Symbiote found each other solely by following their inherent connection. Eddie “followed the thread” to the Symbiote, and the Symbiote broke out through the faucet drain to find Eddie.
There is no actual middle ground to the hard, completely canon fact that the Symbiote and Eddie Brock just… love each other, are obsessed with each other, and consider themselves to only be complete when together.
These are central themes to most Venom-centric storylines, even in the 90s where you’d think the possible queer reading of the subject would be avoided by comics creators. But it seems like the fact that Venom is a genderless alien from a symbiotic race only bolstered the writers into having the relationship be read as, from a human perspective, romantic and extremely sensual, co-dependent and obsessive, but also tender and full of passion.
The pairing of Eddie Brock and the Symbiote is canon. That is just a fact of their history.
