I love how much lwj wants to raise kids with wwx.
We have the first moment he realizes this in Yiling when he meets a-Yuan.
He is surprised to learn that a-Yuan is wwx’s son, but he immediately, with zero hesitation, just goes. No, he’s our son.
A whole new world just opened up for him. There’s nothing else on his mind. Head empty just how do I ask my not-really-even-friend-anymore with whom I am most deeply in love and who is currently being hunted down if I can adopt his son so we can raise him together?
Like, seriously, I cant handle this! Five minutes ago he had no idea he wanted to be a parent and now he’s imagining his future raising this child with wwx. Life sure is unpredictable.
The betrayal! He can’t believe wwx would do this. Wei Ying, this is NOT how we are going to raise our son. If you ask him which toy he likes best, you have to buy it for him. How can you be so heartless? We will have to have a conversation about this. For now I hope my glare conveys that this CANNOT happen again.
This is all he has ever wanted, to be hugged by his son with wwx as co-parent.
Obviously, we all know that he doesn’t get exactly that. he has to raise a-Yuan alone, and does an exceptional job, because he is a great dad and Lan Sizhui is the best boy.
But then we have the other moment when he meets Mianmian’s daughter.
He is so soft, he has such a soft spot for children. He just starts fantasizing about being a dad again.
I can tell you are being adorable again Wei Ying but I am too busy choosing the name of our future child.
They act like a married couple. Wei Ying is right in assuming that he can promise my money, everything I own is yours Wei Ying. And I am very glad my glare all those years ago worked. When you make a promise to a child you have to keep it.
This is too much. Wei Ying pouting so adorably in front of a little girl sure can’t be allowed. There has to be some rule about this. Wait, does this mean that I might see this all the time now I’ve decided we will raise a child? This time we might actually be able to raise a child together.
They are both amazing parents but i just love that every time lwj sees a child near wwx he just decides that they will be dads together. He can’t help it.
i’ve never needed a wangji more in my life
I just find it beautiful (and heartbreaking) how Wangji immediately takes responsibility for Wuxian as soon as he comes back from the underworld.
He knows by now Wuxian is not that good at taking care of himself and he’s not going to let the same mistake repeat over and over again, so he just decides he’s going to be the one who will take care of Wuxian, whether he likes it or not.
And he does take care of him. Perfectly, in fact. Not only does he take care of Wuxian, he anticipates his needs (like when he fixed his flute) and you can see that Wuxian is confused at times, but also extremely comforted by how protective Wangji is of him.
Because let’s face it, Wuxian is used to being the protective one, the one who has the weight of the world on his shoulders, even when the people he loves don’t know what he’s done for them (like Jiang Cheng).
This is the first time someone is taking care of him without him asking for help and without expecting something in return.
Wuxian has known little kindness in his life and certainly none in the years leading up to his death. By that point, he had no family, no clan and everyone would rather see him dead than try to understand him.
The Wen Clan was a found family, but he was the one taking care of them, not the contrary. So no, Wuxian probably doesn’t remember what it feels like to depend on someone else because he never had the luxury to do so.
And yet Wangji has no hesitation and will not negotiate. He immediately makes himself dependable for Wuxian. He’s not going to lose him again. He lost his chance to protect him once and he’s not going to repeat that same mistake.
He knows that very well and immediately acts on it without second thoughts, losing all the hesitation and maybe even a little of the discretion he had 16 years before. If Wuxian is wounded he will touch him or undress him, if Wuxian can’t walk he will carry him even if it’s “embarrassing”. Whatever Wuxian needs, he shall have.
And Wuxian’s reactions honestly have me in tears most of the time, because he doesn’t think he deserves any of that. But that’s exactly the point: Wangji knows Wuxian doesn’t love himself. So he decides he will love him enough for the both of them until he does.
thank you @jiang-yanlii and @miannmian the inspiration. y'all truly are my muses /p <3
so. wangxian yuuri!!! on ice au?
so Wei Ying is an up and coming ice skater from China who idolises the beloved prodigy skater of China, Lan Wangji. he first fell in love with ice skating when he was watching a recording of Lan Zhan's juniors performance with his best friend Nie Huaisang.
he immediately started consuming everything ice skating and Huaisang helps him as he too shares a love of the ice. he even gets himself a bunny when he sees a cute little bunny when he sees that Wangji got a bunny named Bichen. he names his beloved bunny Suibian.
he gets ballet training from his beloved godmother Baoshan Sanren who encourages him to ice skate competitively because she sees his passion when very few others do. so he decides to compete after a lot of deliberation. Madam Yu isn't happy about this but considering that everyone else supports him, she decides to shut up for once (I'll tone down the abusive tendencies for my own sanity).
as the years go by, he definitely becomes a pretty big name in the skating world. while he does have an outgoing personality and image, he still has a hard time performing thanks to episodes and often gets low technical scores. he goes to Detroit at eighteen to pursue better training opportunities. (it was Baoshan Sanren who had to tell Wuxian in somewhat harsh but loving words that he should go and pursue better opportunities outside of Yunmeng.)
so he trains with our coach OC and Wen Qing and Wen Ning, his roommates who let him stay at their place. after seeing Wuxian underperform way too many times, his coach talks to him and encourages him to get therapy which ends up helping him with PTSD and anxiety a lot.
fast forward to the Sochi Grand Prix Final. Wei Ying is incredibly excited because it's his day. he's finally made it to the Grand Prix and it might be the day he beats his idol and catch his attention. he's performed pretty well at his short program so he has a good chance of winning even if the famous Lan Zhan is competing. then comes the phone call. when his jiejie calls him with the news of Suibian's death, he finds himself unable to concentrate and on the verge of an anxiety attack. his coach has to calm him down and despite of his coach telling him to withdraw since he's not in a condition to perform well, he insists repeatedly on skating anyway. of course, he crashes and burns.
a few months later, he comes back to his hometown after five years with the intention of retirement. Madam Yu was right, I just wasted all of that money and time when I could have been here for my family, he thinks. his godmother Baoshan Sanren is there to pick him up and deliver him to the Jiangs safely at the train station and he gets quite a mouthful for not informing everyone about his plans. his jiejie and didi are both supportive in their own different ways and he gets to meet Jiang Cheng and Huaisang's adopted triplets for the first time. he firstly talks to Suibian and mostly mopes around and helps around the house whenever he can. when he finally gets the courage to get back on the ice, he performs his favourite routine of Lan Zhan for Huaisang. unknown to them, the kids had recorded the whole thing and put it on the internet and it spreads on to every social media possible (actually knowing Huaisang, he probably put his kids up to it.)
at first, Wei Ying freaks out and avoids social media for days. but then, one day after coming back from the rink he sees a very familiar rabbit in the hutch he'd built for Suibian. when Yanli confirms his suspicions by talking about the nice gentleman from your posters who just arrived, he freaks out and runs to the hot springs area. he barges in on Lan Zhan bathing and there's an awkward second, before Wangji says through gritted teeth, "Get. Out."
and that's all I have for now :))
finally pushed away everyone in my life now i can go back to isolation
watching word of honor was fun because i knew all the spoilers but none of the actual plot. yes i know everyone who dies in the penultimate episode. what’s a glazed armour. yes i have seen 30 different gifsets of every wenzhou scene including the epilogue. who’s zhao jing
sometimes i just want to talk to people and it being fun rather than me oversharing and killing the convo
no, YOU’RE looking at him respectfully. i’m objectifying him to filth we’re built different
I just love how all the disciples start excitedly chirping ‘Hanguang-Jun’ every time Lan Wangji shows up like they’re a bunch of distressed baby birds and he’s their mama come to sweep them under his sleeves
