no outlining, we struggle with the plot halfway through like real men /j
How to handle seeing things you don't like on ao3:
Have you come across something too disturbing for you to handle on ao3? Like maybe somebody having sex in a position that isnt missionary? đą shocking, I know. Did someone maybe engage in mild bdsm? The absolute horror! Did two aged up characters do more than a kiss on the cheek??? The utter depravity. Well do I have a solution for you! It's an easy two step process. Step one is to find the back button. If you find yourself in a mildly uncomfortable position while reading a fanfic, you have the power to stop â press the back button đ and find a new fic that doesnt have such scary concepts đ. If you arent sure how to find it, here's what the back button looks like on my mobile browser:
It may be difficult for you to find, but I believe in you!
Step 2 is a little harder because I know you're nosy and think you know what's best for every person on the planet. But I still believe in you! You can do it! You can learn to mind your own damn business and walk away! If you see something you don't like, it's literally not your problem. Let me give you a personal example: there are people out there who still like the show breaking bad, which I found completely unwatchable. But you know what? It's none of my damn business, it's literally not my problem! I have learned that not every piece if media is made for every person, and that's not only ok, but a good thing! You too can learn to mind your own damn business and move on with your life. I promise it's not as hard as it sounds
thinking about harvey stardew valley and being a rural country doctor with a caseload like:
guy who wonât accept any diagnosis except âyou have consumption and need to go to the seaside for your healthâ
woman who asks what gemstone he would prescribe for her UTI
guy who spends half the day trying to give himself a concussion and the other half trying to blow out his hearing on his guitar
two people who have struggled with alcoholism for years but reject all of his resources for it UNTIL someone gifts them alcohol biweekly for a year straight and suddenly their lives turn around
guy who will not stop mailing people bombs but in a friendly way and like this just isnât on the PTSD screener??
guy who wonât stop asking him vague but increasingly bizarre questions about the safety of truffle oil
woman who EATS ROCKS
and also thereâs a fucking wizard. whatâs up with that. how often do you think the man goes âwhy did i get an MD why didnât i just train to be a wizard i didnât even know that was an optionâ while performing emergency surgery on this one farmer who wonât stop picking fights with ACTUAL MONSTERS
Jak se koukĂĄm na moje SimĂky
the thing about cracking open a long-established popular ship tag on ao3 is that it allows you to be extraordinarily picky, and i think it must be the closest thing i will ever experience to being filthy rich. i scroll along at super speed like no today i am only interested in fics with this precise range of words and one of these three tags. only authors iâve heard of, please. hmm, i suppose i could consider an unknown quantity given its apparent popularity with the people, but⌠no, no, this summary doesnât do it for me. no particular reason, itâs just⌠eh, i donât need to explain myself. bring me 50 more like this for me to choose from and weâll see.
Crazy how parts of popular culture can just be deleted by corporations just because they're deemed to be no longer profitable.
kids this is why we download fics
In the middle of a fanfic and this shit happens
The world hates me
[the most awful, horrific, violent, traumatic, horrible thing happens]
Nikki: Wow, this really makes me want to design clothes!
go read their full post! donât fall for Tiffany Gâs propaganda filled interviews! this person is fucking dangerous and could endanger other peopleâs lives in china in addition to endangering the integrity of Ao3.
