He always knows when you need him. Always.

“It’s okay,” he appears behind you to hold you when your heart is breaking, and you are falling on the ground. It is your emotions speaking, but he is there to hold your head and listen to your quiet sobbing. Anyone would leave, but he is there.

“It’s okay,” you are sick, trembling in your bed, shivering. And he is next to you, holding his cold hand on your forehead, handing you your medicine and hot soup whenever you need either. He says he doesn’t ever get sick, but you can hear he cough a little after that. Yet here he is.

“It’s okay,” you should be shot, you know that. The gun fired, and you know it was aimed at your chest. But you are alive. Laying on the floor and weak, but you are healthy. He is there again, holding your shoulders, looking in your eyes. A short smile - so short, you think it is a vision. But he is there. And so are you.

“It’s okay,” a lonely Christmas dinner. Your choice to not kill your emotional health, but you are unhappy that you are alone without your family next to you. Yet he is here. Sitting in front of you, eating pizza, drinking champagne. He brought both.

“It’s okay. It is okay now,” you smile at him now. You are dead. It doesn’t matter how - he made it painless. He smiles back and leans in to tuck a curl behind your ear. His hands used to feel cold and bony, but now you can feel the warmth and softness of gentle touch.

“Will you go on to Heaven?” you shake your head. It is your choice, and you won’t just choose some abstract thing over this reality. “Good.”

“Is it okay?” you ask him softly, and he can’t hellp a chuckle.

“It’s okay.”
