This is a simple journaling challenge/exercise that I’ve put together that helps to explore and connect with chosen deity. The rules are simple: Choose a deity to work with, then for the next 28 days, complete one prompt per day. It’s that simple!
1. List all the various names of your deity, in your language and in the original language.
2. Write an epithet for your deity and write why you think it is befitting of them.
3. What is your favorite myth involving your chosen deity? Are there any retellings or interpretations that you prefer to the original?
4. Show off your favorite picture, drawing or moodboard that represents perfectly how you view your deity.
5. List any keywords and symbols that are associated with your deity. How do you feel about these words and symbols?
6. Build an altar, no matter how big or small, to your deity. If you are unable to do this, write or draw what you would have on that altar in your journal.
7. Make a list of Hymns or prayers, traditional or original, that you prefer.
8. In any form you choose, list any messages that you have received from them.
9. What are your deity’s correspondences?
10. What was considered sacred to your deity?
11. What are the worship days/holidays/popular celebrations associated with your deity?
12. Make a list of offering ideas
13. Write a playlist dedicated to your deity.
14. What locations or places are sacred to your deity?
15. Make a list of quotes that you associate with your deity.
16. What signs do you associate with them? How do you know when they communicate with you?
17. What are some activities, charities or other causes that you can do in their name to honor them?
18. Make a list of drinks and foods that your deity likes. Write down your favorite “modern” recipes.
19. Using the Five Senses, how would you describe your deity?
20. Write a ritual dedicated to them. This can be ceremonial or a routine.
21. What are some of the lessons that you are taught by the stories told about your deity?
22. Are there any media representations of your deity? What is your favorite?
23. What are some popular “modern” ways to honor your deity?
24. Write about their realm of influence. What all does your deity rule over?
25. What are some modern issues that would concern your deity?
26. Are there any other deities that your deity is often associated/confused with?
27. Who are the relatives of your deity? What is there most significant relationships?
28. What are your own personal practices to honor your deity?
I share a very small room with my sister, and obviously don’t have much room for an altar. I use most of my space for my Hellenic shrines and altar. I keep my witchy stuff on my shared bedside table. Here is what I use, and how I store/display it. This is element based, but you can use it however you like.
Small Himalayan Rock Salt Lamp - This is a tool I use all the time. It detoxifies my room, and cleanses the space. I feel so much more at ease with it on, like it’s washing everything away!
Crystals - You might want to move these or switch them out depending on what spell you’re doing, as all energy contributes to the working, but while you’re in your room, or even while you’re away, you can leave these here to represent Earth.
Salt - Little packets of salt work, or you can place a bowl with some salt in it on your altar. I use my rock salt lamp.
Dirt - A literal baby jar of dirt works, or you can put a plant on your altar if it’s by a window. I have a succulent!
Earth Imagery - A mini globe would be pretty cool! Or even a little eraser or what not. Having an actual picture of the Earth would be amazing, especially if the clouds were visible, and maybe if it had the sun in the background. Then it could be all encompassing of the elements.
Herbs, Flowers, Plants, etc - As with the crystals, you may want to change these out or put them away during spells, or switch them out. However, they would look really cool as you went with the seasons!
Fossils - I think fossils are awesome Earth representations. They have been in the ground for a very long time! I used to have some really cool fossils I used to represent Earth on my altar.
Tree Slice - Have you ever seen those little wooden slices that come from a tree stump? The ones that definitely had huge roots? Those would be perfect to represent Earth!
Birthday Candles/Tea Lights - You can colour code! These are great for short workings, or even to call the elements. To make these stand up, place them in a bit of clay and let it harden.
Matches - Double whammy here- light your candles and have a representation!
Ash - I used to have volcanic ash, which was perfect. It got spilled, but for the while that I had it, it was awesome. Collect ash from incense, a fire, etc, and use it (just wait for it to cool!!!)
Charcoal - I always thought charcoal looked kinda witchy. I think a dish of it would make a good rep.
Charred Wood - If you have a bonfire, or just so happen to light a piece of wood on fire, you could let it cool and use it for your altar.
Lamp - If you have a secret altar, a little lamp could be an inconspicuous representation for fire, as it does produce light and heat.
Lantern - You can buy super cute mini lanterns at the Dollar Store. I love them, but haven’t gotten one yet. I think they would be fun to use for Fire.
Glass of Water - You can use whatever type of water you’d like; moon water, rose water, purified water, gem elixir; take your pick! Just make sure it doesn’t get moldy and stay moldy. Change it out each day/week.
Sea Shells - You can get these in super small sizes! Or, you can get them big and bulky.
Sea Glass - These little stone-like fragments are so pretty! They look just like crystals, and can be found on the beach or in the store!
Sea Salt - Sea Salt could work to represent Water, especially if you pour it into a seashell or add in sea glass to it. It could be like a little potpourri of water related objects!
Rain Cloud - You can create clouds out of things like stuffing for toys, cotton balls, and sometimes led lights. It could be a fun project, or you can buy one of them off of etsy.
Mermaid Image - I have a mermaid book mark made of metal, and it sits with my other water-related objects. I feel like it adds that feel of majesty to my water representation.
Drift Wood - This is so pretty! The pieces are smooth, have a fun shape, and definitely capture the essence of water!
Sand - If you go to a beach, collect some sand, and place it somewhere on your altar! Be sure to put it in a bowl, though, because it is hard to clean up.
Sea Weed - You can hang this somewhere, or put it directly on your altar. Either way, it looks great.
Coral - If you find some coral, you can place it on your altar. It looks so neat!
Starfishes/Sand Dollars/etc. - These are a little harder to find on the beach, but if you do, place them on your altar.
Wind Chimes - These add a little decoration to your altar, as well as give you an air representaiton. You can even listen for the tinkling of bells to see if any fae are around!
Bells - If you ring a bell, it disperses stagnant energy, and helps to cleanse a space. Having one on your altar is a great way to keep it fresh!
Feathers - This is a pretty obvious one, an oldie but a goodie. If you have some feathers, you can use them, but make sure there are no laws against collecting them in your area. Alternatively, you can use fake ones from a craft store.
Empty Glass or Bottle - Air is all around us. Use that to your advantage!
Dandelion Puff - This is what I immediately think of when I picture the wind. You can collect some puffs and put them in a glass.
Bird’s Nest (fake) - You can buy or make a fake bird’s nest. They look pretty real, and have this awesome rustic naturey vibe to them!
Leaves - They were once high in the sky! Collect them during the fal season or after a storm.
Incense - Another well-known one. You can burn this and use the smoke.
Tornado Making Jar - You know those little jars that you can shake up, and they make a tornado? Those would be a fun water-air duo!
Other:
Small Jewelry Box - This can store crystals, herbs, essential oils, etc. I use to use mine to cleanse my crystals becuase it played music!
Multi Colour Light-Up Candle - I found mine at Five Below! It lights up in tons of different colours, but is pretty large. However, it takes up a lot less room than a bunch of different coloured candles.
Your Wand - Having your wand on your altar makes it a sacred, special tool. It will be charged by the witchy items you have there, and will feel natural inn the environment.
A Mini Besom or Real Besom (Broom) - I use a paintbrush as a mini besom, as I can’t have real one. However, it would be nice if I did, and I’d keep it near my altar!
Your Grimoire/Spellbook/BOS/etc - If you aren’t hiding it, you could keep it on your altar!
A Fire-Safe Dish or Cauldron - If you water scry, burn things, or just like to include your cauldron in your spells, you can keep it on your altar.
Incense Tray - Incense can’t be burned without somewhere to place it. Keep your incense holder handy!
Altar Cloth - This ties everything together! It can be switched out for sabbats/festivals/seasons/spells.
Chalice - I’m not Wiccan, but I use the chalice in my workings every once in a while, usually for water-related magic. You can get these beautiful metal ones at antique stores, or regular old wine glasses at the dollar store!
Mortar and Pestle - For practical use and an awesome vibe! You can keep this near your herbs.
Coloured/Enchanted Salts - They display beautifully, and are really good to have on hand.
Spirit Vessels - These can go in their own little corner if you like. They could also be the center of your altar, especially if you work mainly with spirits.
Tarot/Other Cartomancy Cards - Find a nook for your cards to be kept safe and clean. They will be charged by the other objects all around it, which makes it an awesome idea to have on your altar.
Scrying Mirror - Make this the main attraction, or perhaps just a piece of the puzzle. If you have an ornate mirror, it could be a very drawing part of your altar!
Crystal Ball - Like the scrying mirror, it could be a background piece or the focal point.
Runes - If you cast runes, you can keep your bag or box of them on or near your altar.
Other Divination Tools - You cans store these, or just la them throughout your altar. Whatever you choose, having your tools close by will be awesome!
Twig Shapes - You can make sigils out of twigs and hot glue! Add a ribbon or piece of twin in the shape of a loop, and you can hang them above your altar as decoration and as a little energy booster!
Circle (Embroidery Hoop) - I know most people use salt to cast circles, but I actually use an embroidery hoop. I cast one around myself, and one around the items I am working with (ex: what’s in the hoop).
Knife - If you use a ritual or practical knife in your workings, it’s good to have on hand. I can’t have one, but I like my wand better anyway, personally.
Fae Garden - You’ll have to have plenty of sunlight near your altar for this one, but it will definitely be fun to have some Fae living on your altar!
Spell Supplies - Random bits and bobs, like egshells and ribbons, can be kept on your altar as well.
Hello witch mom!! 🖤💜🧡 Wanted to ask if you read any good books that would do for a beginner witch? If so, I’d like to hear some of them!
A lot of witch books, especially for beginners, have some wonderful information! They also have some iffy information, or stuff that may not fit for you. That’s just how it is. You can always learn something from any book if you go into it with critical thinking. That being said, here’s some books I’ve read that I would recommend:
Grovedaughter Witchery by Bree NicGarren
The Sisters Grimmoire by Bree NicGarren
Pestlework by Bree NicGarren
Of Witchcraft and Whimsy by Orriculum Rose
Garden Witchery by Ellen Dugan
Modern Tarot by Michelle Tea
The Way of the Hedge Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Italian Folk Magic by Mary-Grace Fahrun
Five Principles of Green Witchcraft by Asa West
Currently reading:
Viridarium Umbris by David Schulke
Wortcunning by Nigel G. Pearson
I’ve purchased these books but haven’t read them yet:
Moonology by Yasmin Boland
Tea Leaf Reading for Beginners by Caroline Dow
A Cart Full of Magic by Ileana Abrev
Weave the Liminal by Laura Tempest Zarkoff
Haus Magick by Erica Feldmann
Revolutionary Witchcraft by Sarah Lyons
The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
Green Witchcraft by Paige Vanderbeck
The Green Witch Herbal by Barbara Griggs
The Witches Almanac 2018 - The Magic of Plants Issue 37
Books I’ve read that I wasn’t impressed with:
Witch by Lisa Lister
Modern Witchcraft by Skye Alexander (from what I remember, but I plan on re reading it in case it’s better than I recall)
This shop features a lot of excellent witchcraft books.
Another thing to consider is the value of non-witchy books. Some of my best information is from books catered to everyone.Science and witchcraft go hand in hand.
Field guides (for the PNW/North America)
Advice for finding helpful online resources for plant identification (plus some field guide recommendations for the PNW/NA).
Additionally, don’t underestimate the value of online resources:

This is a simple knot spell to help bring anxiety down to a manageable level. It combines the type of fiddly hand motion that helps calm down a lot of people (as well as myself) and a nice chant to help with focus.
What You’ll Need:
A piece of ribbon or cord with a texture you find nice to run your fingers over.
How It’s Done:
Run your fingers over the length of the cord/ribbon while taking deep breaths. Push as much calming and relaxing energy as you have to spare into the ribbon.
Say this chant and as you do so tie the corresponding knots in the ribbon/cord:“One to begin and two to breath Three to sit back and four to see Five for calm and six is for me Seven brings peace and eight reprieve Nine nears done and with ten I am serene.”
If you need to repeat the chant as much as you need to until you are calm. Simply move your hands over the knots in place of tying them.
When you are done dispose of the cord/ribbon as you see fit. My personal suggestion is to pass is over some cleansing smoke a few times and keep it in an easily accessible space for when you need it again,
That’s that folks. I know it’s pretty simple but I hope it helps when anxiety gets too much.
Feel free to tweak or modify this spell to suit your needs. I don’t even mind if you write it down in your personal book, just please note where it came from. Also please don’t upload/post this spell anywhere else and claim it as your own.
It’s really common to find witchy mental illness/health related content that is catered towards specific illnesses (usually anxiety and depression). This is more catered to specific symptoms.
Witchcraft is to be used as a supplement to proper medical care, medication and therapy - not as a sole alternative!

So you have seen our lovely bath magic spells but you cannot take a bath. Maybe you don’t have a bath in your current residence, maybe you are physically unable to use bathtubs, maybe you’re just super stretched for time but want to get in some extra magical umph. Recreational Witchcraft is here for you.
Shower disks are traditionally used in the aromatherapy world to relieve congestion and other flu-symptoms while showering via the use of essential oils, but we will be bumping up their magical potential.
Basic recipe:
1 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon corn starch
1/3 cup of water
Muffin tins and muffin liners
Combine baking soda and corn starch (making sure there are no clumps), then slowly add in the water. Fill lined muffin tins about third of the way, then leave out for 24 hours to dry completely. Carefully take them out of the liners, add your essential oils, and place your disk somewhere in your shower that will allow them to dissolve slowly while you do your business. Bam. You’re done.
Now onto the magic. All dry ingredients (herbs, spices, etc) should be added in with the baking soda and corn starch before the water is added. All essential oils should be added right before they’re used (so when they’re completely dry).
Cleansing and Purifying:
essential oil of rosemary
essential oil of lemongrass
dried peppermint leaves
dried lemon rinds
dried rosemary
Protection:
essential oil of lavender
essential oil of eucalyptus
dried basil leaves
dried lavender flowers
pinch of ground cloves
Glamour:
essential oil of sweet orange
essential oil of rose
essential oil of jasmine
crushed red rose petals
pinch of (body safe) glitter
Attracting Love:
vanilla extract
essential oil of jasmine
essential oil of ylang ylang
apple seeds
1 lavender flower
pinch of cinnamon
Attracting Money:
essential oil of patchouli
essential oil of juniper berry
dried mint leaves
dried thyme
pinch of allspice
Candle dressings
🌌 A spell bottle to aid in communicating with spirits/your spirit companion 🌙
Ingredients:
Orange peel- Friendship, success and prosperity
Chamomile- relaxation
Mugwort- divination, astral projection, psychic abilities
Mint- protection, happiness, communication
Cinnamon- awareness, strength
Other optional herbs would be: bay, nutmeg, thyme, lavender, star anise, poppy seeds, lemongrass
A crystal fragment of your choice, I chose amethyst and black tourmaline
A white, blue, or purple birthday candle (or regular sized candle depending on how large your container is)
A jar/bottle with a lid (cork works best!)
Add the herbs to the jar one by one, speaking their properties and how they will add to the power of the jar. Hold the piece of crystal and envision it becoming charged with energy before putting it in. Put on the lid/cork. Light your candle and let a couple drops of wax fall onto the lid, then affix the bottom of the candle into the wax so it stands upright unaided. Hold the jar with the lit candle going and envision the desired effects of the spell (ex: you seeing/talking with spirits easily, seeing manifestations and signs) Continue this until the candle has burned down to your liking and the jar is sealed by its wax.
Knot magic and witches ladder
Combining the energies of shapes and colors is a powerful practice within art witchcraft. You can look for these combinations in your color castings, or other artistic forms of divination, or use them to boost your intent in spells.

moon water can be used for blessings, enhancing spells or rituals, for promoting clarity or relaxation, in love magic, wealth/prosperity magic, to increase psychic awareness, and many other purposes! but by harnessing your moon water at different times, you can then incorporate the specific traits of that time/phase/zodiac period into your spell work.
✨new moon water ✨
the new moon is associated with new beginnings, so use new moon water in spells or rituals focusing on things like new employment, new relationships, or new homes.
e.g. when moving into a new home, add a couple of tablespoons of new moon water to the water you would normally use to cleanse your house with!
✨waxing moon water ✨
the waxing moon is the period in which the moon is growing in size, so use waxing moon water as a way to grow the strength of your spells. waxing moon water is also beneficial in spells to promote growth (of abilities, skill, or knowledge). the power of the waxing moon also increases the potency of fertility spells, wealth, luck, business and relationship spells
✨full moon water ✨
the full moon is the point at which the moon is at its peak, so use full moon water for spells that require an extra push of energy. also use full moon water in spells to promote strength, love, protection, health, or use in spells to strengthen spiritual gifts and achieve your dreams
✨waning moon water ✨
the waning moon is the period in which the moon is decreasing in size, so use waning moon water for all magic intended to remove things from your life; banishing spells to rid yourself of bad habits, toxic relationships, lingering diseases, weight loss, stress, addictions and negativity
✨dark moon water ✨
when justice is required and is not obtainable outside of your spell work, casting in the dark of the moon and adding dark moon water will help with any crosses, hexes or binding spells
✨super moon water ✨
think of full moon water x1000000…… when you need an EXTRA BIG KICK OF ENERGY for your spells, this guy has you covered
✨lunar eclipse moon water ✨
the lunar eclipse signifies change, so when drastic change is required, the addition of lunar eclipse water draws on the phenomenal change shown during an eclipse, as the moon cycles through all of its stages in a single instance
✨zodiac* moon water ✨
full moon water also takes on the energies of the zodiac sign the full moon is in. here’s a brief rundown of those properties and/or what they can be used for:
1) full moon water in aries = couragous, positive energy; charging tools 2) full moon water in taurus = stable, earth, fertile energy 3) full moon water in gemini = positive charge, overcoming obstacles 4) full moon water in cancer = loving, maternal, protective energies 5) full moon water in leo = lucky, creative, successful energy; arts, politics 6) full moon water in virgo = practical energy; facilitates planning 7) full moon water in libra = persuasive, balancing energies; legal matters 8) full moon water in scorpio = psychic, spiritual, banishing energy 9) full moon water in sagittarius = transforming, spiritual energy; meditation 10) full moon water in capricorn = careers, politics, attaining material goods 11) full moon water in aquarius = innovative, inventive energies 12) full moon water in pisces = dreamy, psychic energy; astral projection
since i’m starting to work on getting my own Grimoire better organized and figuring out what i think fits best in it for me, i feel like i should log some ideas that have helped me in my journey in hopes that it could help someone else just starting out. but just remember that your Grimoire is your own and personal to you and you alone so you don’t need to put everything in if it doesn’t vibe well with you or doesn’t fit into your craft. your book should hold things that are personal to you and your craft and what you believe and you don’t need to have every bit of knowledge in your book.

Authors to avoid (due to misinformation, historical inaccuracies, poor research, potentially harmful advice, and/or failure to cite sources):
Silver Ravenwolf (here’s why)
DJ Conway
Edain McCoy
Ann Moura
Ralph Blum (runes)
approach Llewellyn-published books with caution — there are some great ones, but many aren’t well researched and may contain misinformation.
if all else fails, Google the author and ask around to see what people have to say about them - many bad authors have entire pages or discussions dedicated on why to avoid them!
always fact check information (especially if it involves ingesting anything or putting anything on the skin — just because an ingredient is natural does not mean it isn’t harmful/toxic)
How do I know what to believe? Critical Thinking and Pagan Books

Aries: An Aries moon will tough out there pain, and not open up about it. They try to keep it hidden from others, even if it sometimes explodes out. Some may think they do it because people fear that they are weak, they really do it to appear brave. When they show and feel their emotions (especially related to pain), it’s really intense, and sometimes off putting to other people, so they try and put up a front, but sometimes they eventually snap and lay everything out on the line. They really feel their emotions strongly, even if they don’t want to admit it. An Aries moon will feel their pain very strongly for a while, and then once it’s felt, they can snap back into their normal selves.
Taurus: A Taurus moon never forgets. If you cross them and cause them pain, they will remember it for a long time. So it’s very hard to be forgiven by them once you’ve done something wrong. A Taurus moon is usually very collected, and they don’t have emotional outbursts when they feel hurt. They will try to do something productive to keep their mind off of the pain, they really try to avoid feeling pain. A Taurus moon is very stubborn, and will often not admit when they are hurting (even to themselves). All that can cause a build up of negative emotions, that when finally felt can really get them down.
Gemini: A Gemini moon will be passive aggressive about their pain. Sometimes they will take their pain out on someone else, or if someone caused them pain they will be cold and cruel to them. One moment they will say that they feel nothing (everything’s fine) and the next their world is crumbling and they feel awful. It takes time for a Gemini moon to process their pain, and to overcome their rationality. It’s hard for them to not be rational, but sometimes being hurt isn’t rational, and a developed Gemini moon can realize this. It takes a lot to make a Gemini moon cry, but when it does happen, they feel embarrassed an want to retreat.
Cancer: Cancer moons are known for being in touch with their feelings. However, when it comes to pain they are very sensitive. Some may say that they have mood swings, but in reality they are just very sensitive to pain in general, and are empathetic to other’s pain as well. They may hide their pain behind their hard shell and act like nothing bothers them, but on the inside they are soft and falling apart. They really just want someone to listen to them when they feel hurt and to fix whatever is causing the pain. They are very good nurturers, and that includes self-nurturing as well. They learned from a very young age how sensitive to pain they are, so they got really good at dealing with pain as well.
Leo: So it really depends on if they receive pain in a public or private setting. In public, Leo moons will put on a show and stuff their pain away, so that they can continue to appear fine. However, they will remember what happened later and ruminate on it, so they will eventually confront it. If it happens in private there seems to be a theme of dramatics. They feel greatly, and love hard, so when that is compromised their inner world gets shattered. They can cry very loudly at home (or when alone), secretly hoping that someone will hear them and comfort them. It takes a lot for a Leo moon to forgive once their trust is broken, and a lot of pain can come from people they trust the most.
Virgo: Virgo moons try to hide their pain and save face 24/7. They want to pretend that they aren’t sensitive to other people’s actions, because that just wouldn’t make sense to them. In reality a Virgo moon cares a lot and once they experience pain from someone they care about, they will carry a deep hurt within them. When they are alone they can allow themselves to cry, but that usually just ends with them feeling worse about themselves. Sometimes their pain stems from self-esteem issues, and feelings not in control. Virgo moons want to fix other people and their problems, but they often sacrifice their own selves doing so.
Libra: Their relationships with others and the destruction of those said relationships can cause great pain to Libra moons. It’s hard for to hide their pain, but they usually put it off in public. They are an intellectual air sign, but their pain can become overwhelming which often leads to them trying to channel that pain into something else, whether it be poetry, fashion, or even scrolling on tumblr and pinterest to try and forget about everything. Don’t be fooled though, they are usually very rational people. Libra moons love to be social, and they put a lot of effort in their relationships with others. Actually, a lot of their self-worth stems from their relationships. So abuse or maltreatment (being taken advantage of) by someone they care deeply about can be absolutely devastating, and is often the source of their true pain.
Scorpio: Much like Aries, Scorpio moons have an emotional intensity so when a Scorpio moon feels pain it can be a very passionate experience. When they feel like someone has caused them pain, they want revenge, even if it is just a little part of them wanting it (they won’t admit this though). They want the other person to feel what they have felt. A Scorpio moon’s sting is one of the worst to be felt. While these deep emotional people also have very kind hearts, they are not to be trifled with. A Scorpio moon feels their pain profoundly and they don’t usually cry in front of others. When they are alone or in the shower, then they can fully let out their cries, but until then they hold a bold face. They are warriors, and they can deal with a great amount of pain, but they never forget their pain and how it made them who they aim today.
Sagittarius: Finding the good in everything, or at least finding some meaning in a painful experience, is what Sagittarius moons are all about. Yes, they know that everyone will face pain, but they see it from a more philosophical point of view, and try to find at least some point to it all. When there was no point in their pain, they can become despondent and lose their enthusiasm for a little bit. Pain for them is more of a journey. To feel, process, and to find use for it. For example, my sister in law who is a Sag moon channeled her pain and depression into Buddhism. This is not to say that they do not face pain, they do and it can be crushing. They have a horrible occurrence of going from great happiness to great pain, and that can be very confusing for a person. However, Sag moons can draw wisdom from their experiences and even use it to help someone else.
Capricorn: Ah, here is one of the placements where people hide their pain from others the most. The truth is that this is a true sensitive spot for the moon, and they really feel deeply. However, they have trouble expressing this and until they really trust someone, they will not let anyone else in to see their pain. Often this placement has people who struggle with emotional pain: feeling like they aren’t good enough, like they won’t ever achieve their goals, being melancholy, and more. They usually have a tough skin, and much like Cancer, they are soft on the inside. They put so much responsibility on themselves, that they fall apart when something goes wrong. Or worse, they cannot help or provide for their loved ones. Their pain will linger, and it will stay with them for a long time, and they will often drawback on it in times of depression.
Aquarius: Here’s another tough skin placement. Aquarius moons are incredibly good at hiding their pain, and often they won’t feel much pain from basic insults or minor incidents. If they are close to someone, that’s a whole different story. They put a lot of weight into their loved ones, and when a loved one causes them pain, they immediately retreat heartbroken. Yet, it’s hard to know when an Aquarius moon is in pain because they will disappear and avoid people. In reality, they are alone processing their pain and letting themselves cry without letting another person know they had power over them or that they are sensitive. They tend to over intellectualize things, and that can cause them even more pain. They need to know that everyone is a little sensitive, and that no one will think they are weak if you explain to someone what was hurtful.
Pisces: Here is the sign where people will try to escape their pain, either by drinking, drugs, art, creativity, religion, or some other distracting form. They feel so much and they are hurt very easily. They are often empathetic and often act as the sponges for other people’s hurt. One can almost always tell when a Pisces moon is in pain because it seems to radiate. They sometimes let the wrong people in, and get taken advantage off because of that. Their pain can come from addiction, being taken advantage of, abuse or other mistreatment. They are truly kind people, but when the feel pain it seems to swallow them whole and it’s sometimes a battle to get past it. Pisces can however turn and be cold once they’ve been hurt. It will be a side no one recognized before, and they can turn into very mean people if they’ve been hurt long enough.

Tips
Check out local plant societies to see what activities they have planned. Some of them offer free plant walks that will help you to get to know your local plants
Start experimenting with your (safe) local weeds first. For many of you, this means sorrel, dandelion, plantain, violet leaf, and ground ivy.
Get your warnings and safety information from reputable books and herbalists, not social media (tumblr). There are many rumors on this site about what is and isn’t poisonous, please don’t believe everything you read!
Keep a few materia medica books on hand to check for contraindications and safety instead. My go-to books for checking whether an herb is okay with me are located in the recommended books post above
Pick 1 herb a month to really focus on. Keep in mind that you can do a lot with a few herbs, some of them have dozens of uses
Learn about your herbs by tasting and using them, not just reading! Personal experience is more important than book knowledge (except when it comes to safety)
Equipment
JARS (check the thrift store for cheap finds)
Alcohol - I usually use 80 proof vodka for tinctures but you can also use brandy depending on what you’re making

“Thou Moon growing, silver glowing, As thou shinest across the skies; Thy light shall flow, blessings bestow, Bring the good and all ill luck fly.”
Not that long ago I purchased a tarot book that finally gave me the confidence to start making my own spreads and WALLA! My first ever spread! I got the inspiration from a few other’s that I have seen wandering around, but I really wanted one that was more unique to my own situation. I would also love to hear feedback, so please let me know how it worked for you! :)
Sometimes I wake up or just go about my day and suddenly an anxiety attack comes on, but I have no clue what action may have caused it. This spread helps me go through the steps of revealing what happened and how to get prevent it from happening in the future. Or at least recognizing it in the first place and be able to take the steps towards improvement. Feel free to twist up the question to your liking or expand it further.
My Anxiety Spread - also good for ptsd & depression
How am I dealing with the situation?
What triggered the anxiety?
Why do I feel stuck/trapped?
What am I not facing/seeing?
How do I work through it?
