some ppl being "okay" and "understanding" of mikey's dark impulses and not knowing what severe mental illness is until they see a blunt, unromanticized depiction of it and then they freak out and run. đ§đ§
it pisses me off tbh đ© like, yeah this is unexpectedly brutal and violent, especially since it's little kids â everything seems less shocking when it's adults but when it's children, like, 8-9 year olds and when it's shown so bluntly it could definitely be upsetting and scary. but people misunderstanding the fact that mikey is mentally ill rubs me wrong fr.
the kid is sick in the head, and we don't even know why yet. it's fiction and we can hate it or love it, but the fact that some people aren't bothering to look into it or acknowledge that there's a lot of depth to this is just. not cool. he's twisted, and of course he's going to do horrible things.
people going from "i know he's mentally ill and i still love him" to "what the fuck he's evil i hate him now" is just ?????
mikey's killed half the characters in the show during the various timeleaps and arcs we've gotten, but due to the fact that mikey was attractive/the murders weren't shown/mikey's reactions were emphasized it didn't rlly sink in to viewers heads i guess.
like, manila mikey literally murdered everyone. but we saw him crying and asking takemichi to kill him, and it focused more on his pain, therefore people overlooked what he did. but now, this time it's thrown at us, raw and explicitly shown, and all of a sudden people aren't okay with it.
the serious hate towards mikey, wakui and the manga as a whole that i'm seeing is proving that genuinely, some people do not get the sensitivity and brutality of psychopathic mental illness actually is. i'm not saying mikey's dark impulses are shown totally accurate to how it may be irl, but it's definitely close, and as you're saying, it isn't romanticized or glossed over. not in this chapter anyway.
excusing/not being bothered by everything he did as an adult, but being so badly offended and repulsed by what he did as a kid??? hm. it doesn't make sense.
people misunderstanding and mislabeling characters like izana, kazutora and mikey is nothing new but it's gotten a lot worse now and i hate it tbh.
i just know that if mikey gets a backstory in future chapters that properly explain the actual roots and reasons to his problems, everyone's gonna run right back to calling him their poor baby boy đđ

With Samhain around the corner (click here for a post about Samhain), you may see the term âdumb supperâ crop up in posts surrounding traditions and activities done at this time of heightened liminality (click here for a post about liminality).
In laymanâs terms, a dumb supper is a meal that is held in silence with food reserved for invited spirits. This ceremony is mean to be a time of remembrance and connection to those you have lost. Thatâs the simplest version of it.
The term âdumbâ simply refers to the silence that is observed during the meal, as no one shall speak, no phones shall ring and no external noises such as radios, televisions should be able to be heard. Essentially, a dumb supper should be done in total, utter silence.
*It should be made known that some people may be uncomfortable with the term âdumbâ due to its connotations and the fact it was used historically to describe those with disabilities. If you do not wish to call it a dumb supper, there are other names for it such as: spiritâs supper, devotional supper, and remembrance supper.
There is no staunch set of rules for this, aside from the silence. A basic template to follow if youâre unsure or doing this for the first time, may be as follows:
Cleanse your space; empty of it any energy, even if itâs residual. You can do this by burning incense, spritzing or chanting - however you feel is best. If you want to, or are wont to do, cast your circle now.
When you set the table for the meal, set a place for every physical being in attendance, making sure you make it so that the head of the table is set for the spirits who will be joining the supper. You may want to set a place for every spirit you want to invite, but this isnât always feasible. If you like, you can use tealight candles set around the plate to represent them.
There is no set colour scheme for this ceremony, but black is typical of the season and activity. You may want a black tablecloth or candles on the table itself.
If possible, use candles as a light source.
Upon entering the room in which the supper is being served, no one may speak.Â
Only once everyoneâs food has been served - spirits included - may anyone begin to eat.
During the meal, you may want to speak to your spirit guests in your mind; tell them you think of them, remember memories, share laughter. You may want to simply think about them, if that is easier.
Once the meal is over, you may want to say goodbye (silently of course).
Only when everyone is finished eating may you all leave and exit the room in silence. Once you are out of the ceremony space, the silence can be broken.
The food you serve at your dumb supper is entirely up to you. You may want to incorporate some of the traditional Samhain foods, e.g., apples, game, cider, late Autumn vegetables, etc,. but remember that you may want to serve food that pleases the spirits you invite too.
This depends on you and your traditions.
If youâve cast a circle, you will want to remove it and cleanse the area. When it comes to the food, there are a few things you can do to dispose of the food.
Some people choose to burn the meal afterwards - it is said that the smell of the burnt food can bring happiness to the spirits.
Some people will divide the meal out between the guests afterwards to make sure nothing goes to waste.
Some people simply bin it.
Songs that reassures you that everything is gonna be ok makes me cry a lot. Itâs feels like a hug for very touch starved people yk?
