do you have any tips for cosplaying one of the volleyball players from haikyuu? Where to buy stuff, etc? In terms of volleyball, I actually play the sport as a spiker so I have that down, but I need help on everything else!

Hiya! I’m actually very new to cosplay myself (I am doing my first Haikyuu cosplay with a friend later this year) so the best I can do is direct you to where I brought my things from and hope you find them good too! 

Here is the Hinata wig I bought, I found it very easy to style with hairspray and a hairdryer (more info here and here). I bought the uniform from ebay. It also came with navy kneepads, but they were too loose for me, so I will hopefully be making my own using this tutorial.

seeing as i can’t find any list like this here on tumblr, here is a list of my favorite todoroki-centric fics that i stumbled across so far on ao3. this list will most probably be updated once i stumble across more gems, but these are the todoroki-centric fics that tugged at my heartstrings the most at the moment! take note that these aren’t arranged in any particular order. if you have other fic suggestions that aren’t here, feel free to add them! 

(fyi, this wasn’t meant to be shippy at all, but naturally, there are a few tododeku fics here because it’s one of the fandom’s biggest ships, but at it’s heart, it’s really about todoroki, and that’s what matters!)

the stars are floating and we are flying / lunalou / 39.k words / completed 

Aizawa starts walking towards the exit, obviously expecting Shouto to follow him, but Shouto’s feet are frozen in place. His eyes flicker from the distorted reflection of himself in the ice to where All Might is giving him a long look, eyes kinder than anything Todoroki has ever been deserving of, and he feels sick.

“Todoroki-kun,” Midoriya says gently, squeezing his arm in what Shouto presumes is meant to be a reassuring gesture. “It’s going to be okay.”

He doesn’t think Midoriya is in any place to tell him what okay is, all things considered, but he chooses to keep quiet on the matter.

notes: best todoroki-centric fic i’ve ever read. obvious todoroki whump, but mostly deals about his dissociation and how it makes an impact on how he lives his day-to-day life. it’s also accurate to how dissociation truly is like, so it’s not cliche in the slightest. can be considered as tododeku pre-slash, but as the tags say, it’s mostly gen, and more than being tododeku, it’s really todoroki & class 1-a, because everyone loves and cares for him

broken tethers / jinxedforever / 40k words / ongoing 

Shoto tries to kill himself, Kirishima is observant, Midoriya is roped into the fray, Aizawa is protective of his kids, and Class 1-A does their best to shower Todoroki with love and fluff.

notes: it’s pretty graphic, not gonna lie. that aside, it’s well-written and has a really nice build up. the tags are also promising, so it’s definitely something worth reading and waiting for.

(or: The first night in the dorms, Todoroki wakes up and half his room is covered in ice.)

notes: a mildly short hurt/comfort todoroki fic. it’s a bit of a mix of people helping todoroki and todoroki helping himself. regardless, it’s a pleasant read

Summer break begins with a violent attack from his father and a substantial amount of fear, but that’s alright because Midoriya is here.

notes: the last time this was updated was back in november of 2018, but there’s only one chapter left before it supposedly ends, and even if it never does get completed, it’s really good, and you can probably mentally write your own ending for the story, since the story has created enough background for that. warnings for actual scenes of child abuse in action, instead of it being merely referential, as well as for the tododeku moments, because todoroki is clearly in love with midoriya here, but the main topic is still about todoroki’s home situation.

notes: an incredibly amusing fic about todoroki’s dorm (and love) life.

It’s been judged safe to send the students of UA home to their families for the first three weeks of summer, much to the relief of everyone whose name isn’t Todoroki Shouto. Luckily, Midoriya has a solution for him, and Midoriya Inko has a lot of love to give.

notes: this is the last edition to the “send endeavor to the shadow realm” series, and i don’t think you need to read the entire series to understand this story, but it makes references to the past works of the series, so if you want to really understand every one of those references, then go check out the entire thing. they’re all really good anyway, so i doubt you’d be disappointed. take note that this is a tododeku fic, with some heavy todoroki whump in the latter chapters because of the villain that appears. also, midoriya inko is the absolute best

notes: the obligatory todoroki-turns-into-a-baby fic! class 1-a shows all the love for him and we get more insight on how todoroki’s abusive childhood affects him as he’s under the quirk that de-aged him. tododeku is already an established couple in the start of the fic, but since todoroki is a baby here, it’s not really touched upon, and if tododeku isn’t your cup of tea, you can still read this with the mindset that they’re just best friends

quid pro quo / quintessence / 11.8k / completed

Todoroki desperately wants to be a good boyfriend, but he’s worried his past traumas have infected him somehow. Made him unfit to be loved. But he’ll be damned if he isn’t at least going to try.

notes: an amazing fic of how todoroki’s trauma and parents’ abusive relationship might affect his romantic relationships (in this case, it’s midoriya). it’s a sequel to another fic of the author’s that’s also quite todoroki-centric, but i enjoyed this one a lot more, so it’s why i’m putting it here on the list. the first story is also really nice though!

AU where Shouto snaps after his accident, leaving his dysfunctional family and shitty father to become a villain—and Class 1-A helps him find his path again

notes: this is a villain!todoroki fic that i’m super looking forward to! he’s basically going from villain to hero once all might insists on giving todoroki a chance by enrolling him in ua. honestly, this fic has so much potential, and i’m excited to see where it’ll go!

So that’s why Pedro wants a female Bond. Because he wants to play a Bond boy. 😆

Dedicated to: my dearest senpai and precious friend, with whom we had a wonderful angst fest just today that actually inspired me to reread this story and finally finish it (it’s been written like a few months back, not long after my iwaoi one with the same topic). It turned out not as bad as I expected, so here you go!

A/N: inspired by The Fray’s How To Save A Life. It’s a wonderful, kind of angsty song, perfect for me and my angst + hurt&comfort cravings. It was only a matter of time before I’d write something for it, so here you go! But I gotta WARN you: look at the name of the fic. Yeah, the name reflects a lot of what’s actually being discussed there, if you’re sensitive to stuff like that’s, I do not recommend. If you’re an angst addict like me - enjoy!

Kiyoko puts the disk in the DVD, managing the settings. Kageyama can clearly see her hands trembling and some part of his brain admires the way their manager still holds up.

Step one: you say we need to talk, He walks, you say, Sit down, it’s just a talk. He smiles politely back at you, You stare politely right on through.

He can’t brag the same stability, though, because with every second to pass, he feels himself crumbling down, piece-by-piece, feels numbness taking over him as his senses become dull, his mind refusing to process reality. He’s surprised he’s still breathing, moving, thinking, even kind of amazed by how his body handles everything on pure reflexes, because deep inside he knows that there’s nothing left. He feels like he’s already dead.

Glances — worried, stressed and marked with grieve, all around him, directed at him. Kageyama somehow realizes why he is the center of their attention, but it’s not like that changes anything. It’s not like they can help.

Some sort of window to your right As he goes left and you stay right, Between the lines of fear and blame And you begin to wonder why you came.

He really doesn’t want to watch it, doesn’t want to spoil his memories and hurt himself even more, but he knows he has to. It is his last chance, after all.
