A Simple Trick for Fic Writers

Hey, if you're a fic writer and a character speaks in a different language, you don't just have to add the translation in the notes. Use the following HTML coding to add 'text on hover' to the word(s). If the reader is on a computer they can hover over the text to see the translation.

<div title="This is the text in the box!">This is the text that shows in your fic!</div>

Here are some examples from a fic on my AO3.

This coding here <div title="a fool, idiot (lit. emptyhead)">Eyn utreekov</div> will show this on hover.

This next example shows that you can add a lot of text. The formatting is the same as above.

PS: When doing this, there may be spacing issues, but you can edit the text through AO3's html or rich text editor. From there you can add italics (like I did), bold, etc, and fix any weird spacing issues. Just be careful not to delete the coding that you worked so hard on 😂

Summary:

When Harry switches to a new (experimental) medication he discovers being a werewolf is very different than he originally thought it would be. He can smell emotions, hear conversations from rooms away, and can heal more than ten times faster than he could when he was human. The only thing he can't quite figure out is why Draco Malfoy smells so damn good all the time and why he has the sudden overwhelming urge to grind him into the wall whenever he sees him. Oh well. It's just part of the medication, right?

A harry/draco xmas weasley sweater scene.

I found it very hard to picture how these two would interact for a bit, given how I def. do not ship them as their relationship is so very antagonistic. 

But then I thought about sarcastic draco- and how in the world he’d interact with Weasleys, let alone, wear their sweaters. :P So, I picture this scene where they are going to the burrow, and Draco’s dreading it on an existential level, but they are basically Harry’s family- and Mrs Weasley is so kind she even made a welcoming xmas sweater.

“Are you ready to go yet?”

“Yeah, but you aren’t- you need to put your sweater on.”

“Under no circumstance am I going to put on that silly sweater.”

2 minutes later

“I can’t believe I’m wearing this.

so i was looking for a gif and came across this and

This scene from “Landscape With A Blur of Conquerors” (chapter 56) by @kylorenvevo got me so hard I had to draw it 😭

Here’s the excerpt:

“I’m your family,” Kylo said before he could think better of it. Rey blinked up at him with red-rimmed hazel eyes; he closed his, embarrassed by his own boldness, and he pressed their foreheads together as his next words emerged in a gruff murmur alongside her wet cheek. “We’re married. I can be your family.” We can start over. We won’t make the same mistakes. Rey began crying even harder, and it was with a sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach that Kylo realized he had somehow made things worse. Is that so much of a surprise? inquired his bitter inner voice. You are a paltry substitute for all that she has lost. But there was nothing he could do except hold her for as long as she let him. And she did, until all of her tears were spent.

Sadly, the author has since private’d the fanfic and is no longer available in AO3. I managed to download it beforehand so if you guys want a copy, DM me and I’ll send you one! 😄
