We've all heard the endless, open-ended debates about what the lords and their friends will or will not do for the people of Fodlan, and that's made more ambiguous than ever in 3 Hopes where end cards don't exist. So I figured, why not see what the people themselves have to say about how they're being treated in each path?

Only NPC dialogue is considered in this analysis to represent 'the people'. Comments or promises by non-generic characters are not included.
Any events of mobility or mistreatment mentioned needed to be specific for them to be included, and the speaker needed to reference being a commoner if speaking about their own experience. All lines from confirmed commoners I could find were included in the dataset, regardless of subject. 2 of the Azure Gleam lines were borderline, but neither mentioned mistreatment or upward mobility, so I left them in the dataset.
According to NPCs, the best treatment of commoners as already implemented by the end of the game is in Azure Gleam, and the worst is ironically Scarlet Blaze, despite the game repeatedly saying that changes specifically aimed at class reform have taken place. Golden Wildfire makes almost no mentions of class disparity between nobles and commoners at all.
The only explicit mistreatment of commoners by nobility is seen in Scarlet Blaze, not once but twice. First to Shez, who is berated by an Imperial General in Chapter 7 for not paying their respects and having a "stench". Another Imperial General in Chapter 13 wants revenge because Viscount Fenja (who turned traitor at that point) had ridiculed her father for being a commoner. These incidents seem to have happened after the two years of class reform in the empire have already occured, although it's possible Viscount Fenja's insults were earlier.
As far as upward mobility, the only commoner confirmed by NPCs to have been given status in this path is Shez, although you do meet a hopeful soldier that believes Shez will be the start of more change. There is also the possibility that the Imperial General with a commoner father is also a commoner, but I couldn't find a confirmation.
Golden Wildfire doesn't deal with commoners at all as a social policy. There isn't anything good or bad that happens with them. The only mention I found was that some believe their King doesn't care what they think.
Azure Gleam explicitly mentions several commoners getting knighted, both named (Ashe) and unnamed characters. We also, like in Scarlet Blaze, see NPCs hopeful of starting over or making a name for themselves. There are more of them here, with specific examples beyond Shez of why they think it's a feasible dream, most notably Ashe, Miklan, and Dedue.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Search engine optimization is the practice of optimizing your web pages to increase your websiteâs visibility organically in the search engine result pages (SERPs).It involves optimizing your website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) and increase visibility and organic traffic. This includes keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, and content creation.
SEO is completely different from search engine (paid) advertising. With paid advertising, youâre paying search engines like Google to show your website on the search result page. Instead, with SEO, youâre optimizing your website so it organically shows up on the first page of the search result. The number of visitors who come to your website through these search results is defined as organic traffic (because they found your website themselves).
Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC):PPC stands for pay-per-click, a model of digital advertising where the advertiser pays a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Essentially, youâre paying for targeted visits to your website (or landing page or app)
It involves placing ads on search engine results pages or other websites, and paying a fee each time someone clicks on the ad. This includes Google Ads, Bing Ads, and social media advertising.
Content Marketing:Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience â and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.
It involves creating and sharing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. This includes blog posts, articles, videos, podcasts, and social media content.
Social Media Marketing:
Social media marketing is a form of digital marketing that leverages the power of popular social media networks to achieve your marketing and branding goals. But itâs not just about creating business accounts and posting when you feel like it. Social media marketing requires an evolving strategy with measurable goals and includes:
Maintaining and optimizing your profiles.
Posting pictures, videos, stories, and live videos that represent your brand and attract a relevant audience.
Responding to comments, shares, and likes and monitoring your reputation.
Following and engaging with followers, customers, and influencers to build a community around your brand.
Email Marketing:Email marketing is a powerful marketing channel, a form of direct marketing as well as digital marketing, that uses email to promote your businessâs products or services. It can help make your customers aware of your latest items or offers by integrating it into your marketing automation efforts. It can also play a pivotal role in your marketing strategy with lead generation, brand awareness, building relationships or keeping customers engaged between purchases through different types of marketing emails.
Analytics and Reporting: It involves measuring and analyzing your digital marketing efforts to understand their effectiveness and optimize your strategies. This includes tracking website traffic, conversion rates, ROI, and other key performance indicators.
With the churches of Fodlan playing a pivotal role during the war in 3 Hopes, it begs the question: what do 'the people' actually think about it? Are some churches viewed as more oppressive, corrupt, kind, or helpful than others by your average citizen? Do they support their local church, the Central Church, or something else altogether?
In this analysis, I take a look at clergy and non-clergy NPCs in each region to see how they feel about the way religion shapes their lives in Fodlan.

I've combined "Support" and "Neutral" sentiments to keep the numbers easier to understand. Neutral in this context means "I don't mind if this thing exists" or "I have no drive to destroy or reform this institution." I also combine sentiments about the leader of the organization (e.g. Rhea, Count Varley) and the organization itself for both analytical usefulness and to reflect the game's framing. The "Artifacts/Secrets/Symbols" row refers to any lines wanting to pursue 'mysteries' of the church.
Line counts are split by whether it's the clergy or non-clergy from that region who have that sentiment. Azure Gleam is special, using "Fodlan" instead of "Kingdom" to denote their non-clergy because there's an Alliance line included about the church. They also have Duscur as a separate category because there are Duscur soldiers that have their own, unique religion from the rest of Fodlan.
Everyone hates the Western Church. There is not a single supporter within the army's NPCs in any path.
There is some Central Church support in all paths, though very minor in Scarlet Blaze. The Southern Church that was recreated by the Empire is generally disliked by everyone, however it sees some mild support alongside its criticism in Scarlet Blaze. On the other hand, the Eastern Church seems to be considered toothless and pretty good where it's mentioned.
Scarlet Blaze has the most negative opinions of the Central Church from all paths and the most distrust of churches in general, including their own Southern Church. There is also more mention of the Central Church having mysteries or secrets than the other paths. However, it talks about the churches the least despite their oppression being the official reason for the Empire's war.
Interestingly, there is some dislike of attacking the Central Church from the people, although sentiment about the Central Church is still mostly negative. The small Southern and Eastern Church support comes from the clergy. In fact, it's only the clergy that talks about the other churches at all.
Ironically, Golden Wildfire has the most neutral/supportive sentiment about the Central Church in non-clergy members out of all paths, including Azure Gleam, who are actual allies with them. It is also the most opposed to the Southern Church despite their arrangement with the Empire. The Eastern Church is generally well-liked and seems to provide mostly emotional support as it has no military.
This is the only path which doesn't mention anything about the secrets of the church, in stark contrast to Verdant Wind. There seems to be more focus on the politics and bloodshed involved with the believers being displaced or killed. Wiping out Rhea and possibly the Central Church in chapter 16 is viewed with concern, in contrast to the lack of unrest that's touted by the main storyline.
Azure Gleam is odd because it does have strong positive Central Church sentiment, but that is mostly from the Central Church itself. The rest of the Kingdom army are fairly neutral about Churches across the board, with some positivity about the Central Church and mild negativity about the Western Church.
This is the only path where NPCs talk about specific actions the Church has taken, both violent (punishing anyone who takes a bribe or commits crimes) and benevolent (giving shelter to the homeless). The one "distrust" of the Central Church I've noted is because an NPC didn't want to take in the Church and start a war very early on (Chapter 4) rather than any particular issue with the Church itself.
