Rhysand’s underground court made his skin crawl, reminded him far too much of Amarantha. How Rhys could stand it after being trapped for fifty years, Lucien didn’t know. He was surprised Feyre hadn’t ordered it demolished, if only as a favor to her mate.

Still, when the High Lord and Lady of the Night court summoned him there to give his monthly report on Spring, he had no option other than to show up, not while they offered him the only employment he was likely to find.

there is really compelling, really strong textual evidence for elriel, gwynriel, and elucien. there is foreshadowing for each of them. can y’all stop bullying each other about who’s most correct for one second? you’re all right. it’s all there. that’s kind of the point, since sjm is writing a series and has to build suspense to keep sales up. no one is more right. it’s all there. stop fighting and go touch some grass.

May I say this much: if Elain wants Lucien to stop visiting, then she does owe him the decency to politely tell him so.

In my humble opinion she owes him a healthy amount of kindness. Not because he’s her mate, but because he’s a living being with emotions. Explain to me how it is justified for Elain to be nice to anyone but Lucien? It’s not, not anymore. I’m not saying Lucien is entitled to sweet words, endless conversations, let alone dates. She owes him one sentence.

One "I appreciate your presents, but I need space and time." One "I don’t want you to ever visit again." Whatever.

Elain is an adult in her mid-twenties, I trust her to speak for herself, as she has before. It’s not too much to ask. It’s not on Lucien to read her like a book. He’s not intrusively going against her will. Elain has never voiced how Lucien should or shouldn’t act because she has no solution either.

Don’t you find it sus how Elain, is an angel to anyone but the guy whose middle name is gentleman? The guy who gives her space, brings her presents and doesn’t expect anything? This doesn’t look like a girl who doesn’t care to me, it looks like a girl who’s overwhelmed.

To be clear, I’m never saying it’s not valid for Elain to feel uncomfortable or pressured. Her emotions explain but they don’t justify her ignoring Lucien. I’m never judging Elain for anything. However, there comes point where it’s no longer excusable to push things, people, along. And that point is this close 🤏 to be reached by Elain.

Can we stop saying Feyre would rather go have drinks with Mor and Amren than with Elain? Or that Nesta prefers deep talking with Gwyn and Emerie? Because, helloo, that’s the point. That’s what friends are for.

Can we not forget the Archeron sisters are in fact sisters first. Not friends. It’s great being able to say your sister is your best friend, but that’s not always the case. They are family before anything else. They’ve starved together, shared one bed for years, and know each other’s ugliest sides.

Friends and siblings are two different concepts. You get to choose the people you want to spend time with, your "inner circle" literally, but you don’t get to choose your family.

Doesn’t it feel so random and pointless, comparing Nesta & Gwyn to Nesta & Feyre? Or Feyre & Mor to Feyre & Elain?

stan that character. point out other character's flaws because sure, they exist but WHY do you guys create a full blown fandom war because you can't agree if elain should end up with az or lucian or if az should end up with az or gwyn. are you sarah j maas? no. can you control who she decides to ship? no. for all you know elain can end up single.

Aelin Week Day 2: The Magic of Friendship ✨

Uhmm somehow I spent 17 hours on this 🥴

I haven’t drawn most of them before so it was really hard to get them looking somewhat like in my imagination and I’m not happy with some of them :// but I spent a lot of time today just to color it and now I’m exhausted

SURE THING. This is more of one big headcanon that I may or may not turn into a fic, idk.

-Once Beron is unalived, Eris is freaked out when he realizes how many courtiers and foreign dignitaries are after his MOTHER. She’s beautiful, graceful, and has been proven to be fertile, so these powerful gross dudes descend on the new high lord like locusts, negotiating for her hand in marriage.

- Eris is like (ง'̀-'́)ง “leave my mom alone u freaks” but the badgering doesn’t STOP.

-LoA decides to take an extended holiday to ease the pressure on her son and to give him a good, nonviolent excuse to turn down the aggravating courtiers who want to visit and bring gifts.

-Her grand tour of Prythian has been carefully planned so that she visits Summer, Winter, Dawn, and Night. Spring is out of the question because of the monster bear man person having an existential crisis, and as for Day…well. LoA’s courage is failing her in this one, tiny regard.

-This all goes completely tits up, of course. LoA arrives at Summer and Tarquin is like…uhhh yeah, so we are actually on our way to Day to stage an intervention because Helion is being a drama queen and is looking for a bride so that he can get an heir. It’s turned into this whole contest where all these ladies from every court have been competing with each other for WEEKS while Helion peacocks around and doesn’t make a decision.

-LoA: INTERNAL SCREAMING

-She asks to tag along because there’s no avoiding the fact that she’s going to have to tell her ex that he does, in fact, have an heir and he’s going to have to tell his new wife “hey just kidding” when she expects to be the mother of his next in line.

-She’s not sure what she’s expecting when she gets there, but it’s actual CHAOS. These women are just absolutely savaging each other for the chance to get alone time with the High Lord, who is mysteriously absent. There have been incidents with hair being cut in the middle of the night, belongings being set on fire, and cat fights during brunch. LoA is horrified.

-Exasperated, she hunts down Helion in his hiding place, intent on telling him to come out and deal with this buffoonery. She has to stifle her joy at how 💀💀💀 he is when he sees her. Instead, she absolutely lays into him for creating such a spectacle with no intention of carrying through. She’s so exasperated that she asks him why he doesn’t just pick one who is happy and willing to be the next Lady of Day and have done with it.

-Helion tells her quietly that she knows why. LoA tries DESPERATELY to harden her heart so that she can take him to task and then tell him about the grouchy red headed surprise she has for him.

-Loa: 😡😡😡

-Helion: 🥺🥺🥺

-Anyway, it all goes tits up (again) and they make out. LoA is like “I really need to tell u something” and Helion is like “sure okay later” and OH BOY is that going to be a fun conversation.

-All of the contestants for Helion’s Bachelor season are disappointed, but quickly cheer up when they notice Tarquin, who flees the scene screaming.

Idc what you think, I want Elriel to fight after the solstice scene. I want Elain to be even more mad because he ignored her. I want them to act like nothing happened in the beginning and then Az confronts her for whatever reason and I want her to be “oh I thought we were acting like it never happened, since you ignored me all this time”. And I want him to be like “I just think that you misinterpreted what happened and i think we should talk”. And then her to be like “oh now you want to talk? Ok.” And sbam. Gets mad, tells him everything she’s thinking with no filters whatsoever, throws flowers at him. Everything without crying at all, while Az is standing there like “oh shit”.

I mean my girl has been rejected too many times and ignoring her for months after that makes it even worse. Plus she’s always elegant and formal, even when she fights with Nesta. I want her to be like “fuck all of this, I deserve good things”.

I think first and foremost this fandom needs to remember that everyone has faults. And by everyone, I mean the people within this fandom, the characters in ACOTAR, and SJM herself. I think that we need to remember that despite all the character’s faults, we kept reading. We kept reading because we like the plot, we like the inner circle, we like Feyre, Rhysand, Cassian, Nesta, Azriel, Mor, Emerie, Gwyn… we like the universe that Sarah J Maas has created. (Anf if you’re that group of people that reads for the sake of hating it or only read on because of so and so character, that’s okay too.) At the end of the day, all of us still read on. It doesn’t matter how problematic you think Sarah J Maas, she still deserves our thanks for creating a universe that we love, characters that we relate with, and a community that we get to share in. People come into this fandom because they have something to say about the book, not to argue over who’s right and who’s wrong. It’s fine for a huge fandom to not have a generally agreed on opinion, it’s fine for people to share theories, opinions, love and hate certain characters, find certain actions problematic, that is totally fine and is what the fandom is for. But a fandom is supposed to be a loving and accepting community, and when you see people leaving this fandom, leaving social media, shouldn’t we also self-reflect? When you see such a clear line between pros and antis, so many people blocking each other, so much hate, isn’t time to do something about it?

Everyone has good intentions and I know that. When it's no longer about the ships and the theories, everyone in this fandom is the sweetest person. But it's always about the ships and always about the problems, and there's so much hate isn't it time to just wonder why? I dont think it's any single person's fault. Sarah J Maas is human, she doesn't wake up one day and decide that the abuser that people characterize Rhysand as should get together with the heroine. Or that it's such a beautiful day for her main characters to be neglectful rulers who are so selfish that they had a bargain to die without regard for their people.

I get that authors should be called out for poor representation or some other sorts of "problematic actions" but I think this fandom has overanalyzed the books to a point where everything is problematic and everything is either this or that and if it's not it's Sarah J Maas's fault it's that person you just blocked's problem. And maybe I'm being naive and maybe this is what the freedom of speech and all that crap entails. But other fandoms aren't like this. Other authors have faults too, but they're never overanalyzed to this point. People love certain characters over others too, but they don't have the entire fandom divided because you either like Nesta or you don't.

And I think that just because you can filter out anti tags and "the block button is right there"... is that really any better?

This isn't right. This isn't a community.

And I honestly don't even know what tags to use at this point because it's not gonna reach the target audience regardless because either the anti tags are blocked or the pro tags are blocked and there's fucking wars with actual people dying right now and we're fighting over fictional characters. And I really want to be nice and fair and reason with people and actually DO SOMETHING instead of just talking about it, but I am also so, so mad.

I’ve debated leaving the fandom now since most of the fandom is anti everyone except for tamlin and nesta’s house of wind gang honestly….I like nesta and her new two friends! but since the ones who act like they’re the leads now constantly villainize the entire IC it’s turned me off of supporting the art, stanning the characters and even caring less for cassian just because the fans are immature and toxic (we can say both sides are but I disagree that half of the fandom or more than half twist everything out of context and behave incredibly toxic toward the series) I’m just like I’m good, anyone who are fans of them are usually small minded about anything outside of them. For those who aren’t, you’re amazing. But most are. After acosf this fanbase is incredibly petulant and deny canon at every turn ignoring the intention and reasons behind the IC’s actions. So black and white I’m over it, I’ve blocked so many acosf fans it’s honestly funny and sad at this point. Sjm wrote such a problematic book and it’s brought on…all this nonsense.

Congrats everyone, you've taken the perfectly fine thing we all enjoyed and shit all over it. And if you didn't enjoy it, then just go be antis! I personally cannot stand anti communities, but go for it. Knock yourselves out. Honestly, I think it would be better if people just embraced the anti sjm identity so we could be clear on where we stand. I tend to block antis because... I just think it's pointless and that community has been very rude in the past.

Even I, and I consider myself pretty much fine saying whatever I want, think twice about how I talk about Nesta, Elain, and Rhys 90% of the time because no matter what we say or how carefully we say it, *someone* will get in a rage and accuse people of being misogynist or abuse apologists or whatever.

The irony re: acosf and the fandom pitting the Valkyries against the IC is that it's EXACTLY the unhealthy mindset that Nesta had at the beginning of acosf, and it's EXACTLY the immature mindset that she had to learn to grow out of. Remember how she said that Amren "chose" Feyre? And how Elain "chose" Feyre? Y'all, I have highlights in my ebook from the first time I read commenting on how immature and narrow-minded that was. But somehow the fandom read that and took it for gospel, I guess.

We all have our preferences. I like Mor better than Nesta. I think Amren has always been a cranky old bitch. I like Cassian. Eris annoys the shit out of me. I think Mor and Emerie are going to be great together. But it doesn't have to create a sub-war behind the ship war. Even when I disengage from the ship war, it's World War Nesta vs the IC which ughhhhhh

Everyone, go get a fucking edible or something, my god! It is very black and white, like anon said. I hate to think about how these people treat their friends and family irl, if they are so judgmental about fictional characters who don't actually even matter.
