Revisiting those super-awkward, semi-escandaloso photos of John and his wife, in bed, from LIFE in 1963. I sort of can’t believe these were taken, because that seems racy for the time, even though John apparently wore all of his clothes to bed.

John Young: Now don’t you worry that purty l’il head of yours. Go put on some lipstick or somethin’. Heh heh heh!

Happy Shaky Day! Capt. James Arthur Lovell, Jr., born March 25, 1928, turns 92 years old today! Jim was a naval aviator and NASA astronaut who flew in space four times, the first human in history to do so. He’s also an all-around great guy and still going strong! Happy birthday, Jimbo!
