I Should See Revolutionary Girl Utena!🌹

I've heard some good things about it. I've heard some bad things. Things that people like & what they don't like. Their favorite arcs. Their favorite characters. The fact that the main character's a young lady who wishes to be a prince, some LGBTQ+ representation, a cute monkey Magical Girl mascot (of sorts), & a dark-skinned princess?! There's also a MOVIE?! I for one really love the aesthetic & art direction this anime is going for. It looks so beautiful! Plus, I'm almost at the last season of Sailor Moon in my binge watch & I'll need more classic Magical Girl fun to consume!

sometimes i’ll come across a still shot of Ohtori academy, and be utterly enthralled by the illustrations, the colors used, and architecture. then i realize it was specifically designed that way with this almost literate take on a rose tinted viewpoint, for the purpose of grooming its students. it’s actually this vicious leviathan of an institution, and what you see is only what it wants you to see, like the bright luminescent esca of an anglerfish.
