fujoshi to tmasc gay pipeline
saw someone in the tags talking about being a "transmasc isolationist" in response to transandrophobia-
no! not that! the response to exclusionary ideologies shouldn't be more exclusion! that's how we got here in the first place!
I put this in the comments but I figured I'd put it in reblogs too
I think what anon is referring to is not the coining of the term nonbinary itself, but instead the person who made the nonbinary flag. Here's one of the posts stating why they pushed for the term and flag.
#we can't have anything focused on our mascness and all more general trans terms ('egg'/'t-slur'/'t4t') all actually Belong to trans women#we're chock full of cooties and if we use the wrong words or try to make our own we're just gonna infect the trans community with them
can I add just remember non-binary got made because “too many” afab genderqueer people were in the tags so it was made for amab ones.?? Still don’t know how any of that worked but I will never use nb over genderqueer after finding that out
I was trying to look into this but couldn't find anything indicating that. Would you mind sharing where you heard that from? The term seems to have been coined on its own but not popularized until the 2010s or so; I wouldn't be surprised if negative sentiment towards people afab identifying as genderqueer heavily contributed to that popularity considering how certain people have talked about us. But I'd still like to find that information for myself if you have any direction towards it.
Looking at tumblr makes me anxious lately so sorry for not really replying to anything for a while. Just popping on cause I was thinking about early 00's culture, specifically how gender was marketed to children back then. If you were a girl, you were better than boys. If you were a boy, girls were worse than you. I don't think that was a healthy mindset to teach to children. I wonder how much it's affected the modern culture now that those children are adults?
In this article, Devon Price claims that this study, while showing that people are more vocally prejudiced against gay men than lesbian women, doesn't mean gay men are more oppressed than lesbians. He also claims that this study, that shows people are more vocally prejudiced against trans women than trans men, does mean trans women are more oppressed than trans men. These conclusions are logically inconsistent and it's frustrating that he is willing to acknowledge the less explicit, often erased bigotry that lesbians face, but not that same kind of bigotry that trans men face.
So you hate pancakes ass moment fr
The average woman working in the healthcare industry cannot comprehend a transgender man existing.
something that I think might be missing a bit from discussions about transandrophobia (specifically when it comes to saying that it's just transphobia/misogyny, or that the only oppression trans guys face is being erased or infantilised) is that this literally is not the case for a lot of trans guys. transphobes do not see me as a "soft feminine confused stolen daughter", they see me as a predator trying to take their daughters from them. I am harassed and threatened out of the women's restrooms I'm forced in to, they think my testosterone makes me angry and violent, they think I am converting their "daughters" to transgenderism, they think I'm transitioning to perv on their sons. it's important to talk about the harm that invisibility and infantilization causes, but do not act like the oppression that trans men face stops there.
transmisogyny = intersection of transphobia and misogyny.
transphobia towards trans men assuming they're women = transphobia. the misogyny is due to transphobia. it is just transphobia. you want to be oppressed so bad
This makes absolutely no sense lmao. If transphobia towards trans men is also the intersection of transphobia and misogyny than transphobia towards trans men would be transmisogyny but it’s not, because transmisogyny refers to transphobia and misogyny aimed at trans women. Hence why transphobia + misogyny towards trans men is called Transandrophobia. The misogyny isn’t “due to transphobia”, the misogyny is entwined with the transphobia. They are tied together.
“You want to be oppressed so bad”…. Anon… do you think transmasc people are not oppressed? Do you think trans men are not oppressed? What??????
Transfem oppression: yeah the other day this jealous cis girl told me I have an obvious adam's apple and that I'll never be a real woman and now I wanna die because I'm not pretty like the other girls!!!
Transmasc oppression: yeah the other day this guy that had a crush on me in high school found out I transitioned and now he keeps texting me begging me to detransition for him, and he somehow found out where I live and where I work, and he keeps sending me rape threats. Also yesterday I went to the men's restroom and I almost got raped but thankfully my friend walked in before anything happened. Thank god nothing happened especially because if I got pregnant I'd get no treatment cause I already changed the gender marker on my birth certificate.
See how stupid that was? See how when I talked about "transfem oppression" I cherry picked a specific issue that mostly affects white binary trans women, completely overlooking the experiences of trans women of color and non-binary transfems. See how this post willfully ignores the very real violence that happens to transfems? See how this doesn't help transmascs at all and only undermines transfems. See how this implies that cis men only target transmascs, and that cis women are incapable of violence?
Wow it's almost as if we don't have to gaslight one group and undermind their experiences in order to talk about the experiences of the other... Funny that.
whatever i don't wanna post to main for whatever reason. expect lots of aesthetic posts and heavy/controversial topics ig.
