In this article, Devon Price claims that this study, while showing that people are more vocally prejudiced against gay men than lesbian women, doesn't mean gay men are more oppressed than lesbians. He also claims that this study, that shows people are more vocally prejudiced against trans women than trans men, does mean trans women are more oppressed than trans men. These conclusions are logically inconsistent and it's frustrating that he is willing to acknowledge the less explicit, often erased bigotry that lesbians face, but not that same kind of bigotry that trans men face.

In 2021, my country debated on a law to open medically assisted procreation to women couples and single mothers. When it was debated we asked for it to broaden the conditions to include trans men and transmascs since the only mention of women excluded whose who had changed their gender markers.

We were consistently told by cis and trans women alike to stop making reproductive rights about men, that it was their fight.

The law passed. And we celebrated, and they celebrated, and we held back tears, we'd never be fathers.

In 2024, my country debated on putting abortion in the constitution.

The minister of families received 2 renowned TERFs and tried to change the law go forbid professionnals to refuse an abortion to "women", so trans men whose gender markers were changed could be denied. And we fought, and we fought for the definition to be changed and we won, and we celebrated in

After I got assaulted, I wanted to take a self defense lesson.

They were “cis and trans women only”, because a man like me shouldn't know how to hit. I went to the gym and I punched a dummy until my knuckles turned purple.

I got a sleep exam. Under anesthesia, the doctor asked me if he should say “sir or ma’am”. I’m tied up on the bed. I asked him to say “sir”. He tells me “I guessed so, you’re such a pretty boy” and he stroke my arm. I want to scream and cry. When I recall the scene to people I'm stealth with, they say I just dreamed, he wouldn't do that, I'm a man. I'm a hysterical woman with extra steps.

part of the reason i love how bell hooks talks about masculinity is that she shows real compassion towards men suffering from the effects of toxic masculinity. she was conscious of how we need to unlearn the ways we talk about men + masculinity just as much as we need to unlearn the same for women + femininity. so many times ill see someone talking about toxic masculinity like (hyperbolizing here but only slightly) "these FUCKING STUPID BABY BITCHES won't MAN UP and go to a therapist!!!" and like. i get the anger. but you see feminists recreating patriarchal manhood by only promoting good behaviors through patriarchal frameworks. any use of the term "real men" is bad because it reifies the idea that manhood is a special title you must earn, and it is something possible to fail and fake. & as important as it is to promote sexual equality + the pleasure of non-cis-men, lots of people are essentially still working with the idea that men need sexual prowess to have worth but just shifting it slightly so there is more emphasis on women's pleasure. but I want cis men to think about their partners' pleasure because they care about their partners, not because they need to check a box in order to keep their man card. and don't get me started on small dick jokes– and the absolutely pitiful excuse people will use that "well, I don't believe it, but misogynistic men get upset when I say it, so it's okay!"

basically bell hooks is so fucking right. in order to create loving men we need to love men, simply for being alive, whether or not they are performing. as much as we need to actively unlearn misogyny (and we do), it's equally vital we unlearn patriarchal ways of seeing manhood. we can't just assume that taking a feminist perspective automatically means there is no work to be done there.

"Women are the only species expected to mate with our natural predators" they're not our natural predators, there's nothing about how dangerous they are to us that should make you go "that's just the natural order of things," stop treating this as inherent and inevitable, also you sound like a TERF, we're not separate species.

One evening, I was at the LGBTQIA center for a trans committee and I was the only trans man in attendance. One trans woman told me she never understood how I could want to be a "disgusting man".

Later that evening, she told me she'd love to swap bodies with me (I was pre T, pre op and didn't bind). I told her I didn't understand why she'd want to have the body of a "disgusting man".

She called me transmisogynistic.

Korean fan living in Korea here) It seems that it’s only the international fandom that see Project Moon’s recent firing of the illustrator as ‘protecting’ their staff from assault.

From all we know here in Korea, the ‘protests’ were largely just standing in front of the headquarters and yelling at the devs, sending threats.

Edit : did more digging and the protestors took some ‘evidences’ and met the devs so they DID get inside the building. but it was mostly talking and they were not actively threatening the devs with physical violence or anything as far as I know according to korean fandom communities ; picture of the perpetrator below.

But even if they WERE physically violent,  informing the police and suing the hell out of the protestors would’ve been the reasonable move, if they truly cared about their staff’s wellbeings. 

(I saw some tweets about how its more ‘dangerous’in East Asia, so Project Moon was reasonably afraid of escalating the situation, but South Korea’s violent crime rates are very low, much lower than the US(https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/South-Korea/United-States/Crime) , so…)

Besides, the ‘loud minority’ of the Incel Korean Fanbase isn’t really a ‘minority’ ; they usually make up a large percentage of income of the gaming industry, especially for a gacha game. And firing female voice actors and illustrators for participating in feminist practices has been done before (it happened in Closers and Girls Frontline.) 

So unfortunately, for the time being it seems that Project Moon simply chose what they believe to be the best path for profit-maximizing. Prioritising the male Korean fanbase while not also losing the majority of the international fanbase.  

Excuse me for the broken english, some misunderstandings (due to language and culture barrier) were getting a bit frustrating.

tl; dr )this was likely a corporate decision and not a spur-of-the-moment thing to save themselves from physical threat because 1. Incels are seen as pretty profitable in Korean gaming industry and 2. the police force works mostly ok in here so why not just… call em.
