@batman-catwoman1, as much as I like the idea of a blog dedicated to batcat fanart, I notice the huge lack of credit to the original artists.

^^^ THIS is not enough. Love cannot go to the original creators because they're not even being properly cited. You can repost one of their drawings and get hundreds more notes/likes on it than they did-- and you didn't even provide a link to where you got it.

Yea, it seems easier to just download a picture you like, repost it on your account, and just reap the benefits, but it's seriously so disrespectful. I recognize some of the og artists and they make it clear that they either do not want their art to be reposted AT ALL, or a simple mention of their name/account will do; most of this info in in their bio. You don't seem to acknowledge either. I was going to send an ask or a dm, but you only allow those you follow to dm you.

Giving credit is not hard, like at all. It's as simple as:

Art by *insert account name* on *insert social media*".

It's a hot topic that's still overlooked by many. I know you probably don't have malicious intentions, but doing this kinda stuff does a lot more harm to the art community than it may seem on the surface.

PSA to my white friends and followers: In the wake of a phenomenally important guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin Trial, I’d like to remind you all that the fallout of this case will likely mean more police violence against our Black friends and neighbors, not less. Looking at the statistics in the weeks leading up to this verdict shows that this is already the case. Police in this country are angry that society is beginning to hold them accountable for their abusive actions, and they are looking for revenge. So if you see a cop interacting with a BIPOC, DO NOT walk away. Video record if you can (and as long as it doesn’t further jeopardize the safety of the BIPOC involved), but absolutely do not walk away. It is critical that we do our part and look out for people, and make cops think twice about abusing their powers of authority and near-immunity to murder citizens people.

a friendly reminder that microaggressions against asians can also look like this:

pretending to gag at asian food

pretending to be weirded out by asian customs and cultures

excusing cultural appropriation (often through ignoring the stories of asians who have been mocked for wearing their ethnic dress while praising a white person for doing so)

not trying to learn how to pronounce an asian person's ethnic name correctly, or asking, "can i call you by something else?"

adopting an asian name for the ~aesthetic~

using the words "oriental" and "exotic" to describe asian people, particular asian women

ignoring the experiences and stories of south, southeast, and central asians

making sweeping assumptions about asian countries (including their political, historical and cultural landscape)

treating the entire asian community as a monolith and ignoring the fact that the experiences of asian nationals are remarkably different from the asian diaspora/migrant community

co-opting asian aesthetics into creative media without acknowledging their history
