domesticated dogs by coldmackerel - this was the one i was reading last night! a post-s3 villaneve fic from elena's pov. i'm a BIG fan of outsider pov fics + this was done soooo so well

it came from the water by coldmackerel - i'm getting through all my coldmackerel recs first. read this about 2 hours ago + i can't stop thinking about it. it's immediately post-4x08 so maybe don't read it if you're not prepared to feel very very sad lol, but it was actually very cathartic for me

these mortifying ordeals by coldmackerel - one year post-s2 ! the BLUEPRINT!!!!!! i'm planning a re-read of this + haven't read the other 2 in the series yet but ....seriously, this author's absolutely forensic understanding of both eve + villanelle is something else, i don't think they're easy characters to write well or truly do justice to but the way this author gets into their particularities + makes it feel effortless is incredible imo

ties that bind me (to you) by vracs - ancient rome AU, villanelle is an undefeated gladiator who goes to take on the minotaur + is guided back to safety by eve. PEAK romance imo, literally read it 2 years ago + it has not left my mind

every rose by fixy - tattooist/florist AU!!!! the WHOLE gang's in this one + it's so so so much fun!!!!! also i continue to mourn the fact that we never got to see elena + villanelle interact in the show bc every fic where they become friends is an automatic fave for me

quid pro quo by fixy - divorce lawyer AU!! another fixy fic, another classic ke fic imo..... villanelle is eve's solicitor for her divorce with niko. nearly 130k of pure gold, basically read anything fixy has written but those r my top 2 i think

for hire by almostafantasia - eve hires an escort AU, villanelle is the escort in question + she's pretending to be eve's date for niko's wedding to someone else, fake dating essentially!!!

everything is shit by almostafantasia - a post-3x06 fic, from what i remember this was villanelle having a crisis post-killing her family + eve turning up in barcelona to see her..... very soft

from the same star by almostafantasia - 68k soulmate AU!! yet another almostafantasia rec (just read everything they've written tbh), a CLASSIC soulmate AU.... you've got slowburn.... you've got their initials appearing on each other's skin.... but you've also still got MI6 eve + assassin villanelle ..... it's GOOD!

an interlude by villanellogy - a soft post-3x08 fic, eve gets villanelle the ice cream she loves, that's the fic x

last call by villanellogy - outsider pov/villaneve in a small town fic, less than 2k but this fic hits HARD, a film-noir vibe to it all

a ripening of sorts by creampuffs - post-s2 fic, villanelle + eve are in a cottage in rural italy, villanelle's taking care of eve + her (villanelle-induced) gunshot wound xoxo i LOVE a fic where characters are forced into a contained space together for an indefinite period of time + forced to have conversations they've otherwise avoided so yes.... this is a vibe

the guillotine hums by liraels - a politics AU, eve + villanelle are MPs on opposing sides. this fic..... felt like a fever dream as i was reading it + feels like a fever dream looking back on it. INSANELY good, liraels is another fic author who just gets eve + villanelle completely imo, writing/a universe u can absolutely sink into + soak up

the thought that lingers by liraels - a s3 fic, eve gets on the train with villanelle from aberdeen to london. another fic where these 2 are trapped in a contained space together + have to TALK. tbh there's soooo many liraels fics i still need to read but this + the one above are real faves of mine so far

Eve and Villanelle’s dynamic in the finale has become my favorite.

What I love so much about where their relationship finally ended up is how much they just…got each other. There’s always been talk about how these two are the same but I feel like nothing made that more clearer than when they finally got together. It was an instant click and everything just came so naturally with both of them being on the same page.

The way they both were irritated by the hiker couple, both of them being goofy in the van with the chocolates, how when they were ordering curly fries they didn’t care about being polite and instead were just interested in getting their damn fries. How when Villanelle says to Eve if she wants to steal the couples camper van she agrees with both of their faces expressing that doing so is one of the most romantic things they could do. 

Ugh. I just love how once they were able to be away from people who meddled in their relationship and put aside their own stubbornness, anger, hurt, and pain that they really were able to get each other.

Not only was it beautiful to see them be soft but I also love that they became one of the most obnoxious jerks in love lol. We got little tastes of that type of dynamic between them before when they did have moments to team up, but it was never fleshed out to its true potential. But now after so long we finally got to see what it looks like when these two finally were able to be together, and it was fantastic. 

This is the best VillanEve for me. Don’t get me wrong, I loved all their other dynamics throughout the seasons. The cat and mouse curiosity, the obsessed dangerous courtship, the intense yearning desire. But nothing will beat this dynamic. Two lovers finally together…and being the biggest pile of shitheads.
