this kills me because it implies that andrew and neil had something to say too
thinking about wymack just looking at his foxes one day and realizing that they are doing okay, they are doing so much better than they were the moment he took them in. they're learning to heal, they're learning to accept love and care and affection and to give it back. they are fighting for each other instead of against each other. they're good people and they deserve good lives, and if he had even the smallest role in that, he's happy. he did good by them.
i think at least once a day about what andrew and aaron's relationship could've been if nothing bad ever happened to them. if they hadn't been failed by everyone in their lives. if they had each other if no one else
you ever think about how neil came to the foxhole court every inch a lie but his friends made him into someone real? how he began trusting them with little parts of himself gradually, how he accepted that staying with them would mean death, and stayed anyway. about how he was their family, they were his. they were worth every every cut and bruise and scream. i will never move on from how neil found himself in the middle of these misfits, found trust and friendship and love and protection, found the wish to live instead of just survive, found the wish to stay and fight and protect instead of run away, because he finally found something worth fighting and staying and risking his life for.
one of the funniest things neil ever did was talk katelyn into talking aaron into talking andrew into having joint therapy sessions like damn he was plotting
the twins' relationship is one of the most interesting i've ever read. yeah they can't stand each other but they keep close anyways, they don't understand each other very well but they've killed for each other. they are assholes to each other but they will protect each other from others. they hate each other but there's so much love and resentment and maybe in another universe they grow up side by side and nothing bad ever happened to them.
andrew and aaron minyard are so "i wish you liked me" "of course i love you" "but do you like me?" coded
something so perfect about neil making aaron understand the reason andrew killed his mother by using aaron killing drake as an example "i don't care if andrew never speaks to me again. if i could bring him [drake] back from the dead and kill him again, i would." "good, so now you understand why andrew killed your mother" and using elodie as an example to make jean understand that he didn't deserve all the bad things that happened to him just because he's a moreau "i am just a moreau, i'm not-" "so was elodie. remember that the next time you think you aren't worth saving"
aftg is the opposite of that one post that's like "love was there, it didn't change anything" because love was there and it changed everything. i will always appreciate nora for believing in her characters' right to find love and heal and get their second and third and fifth chance.
