Draw Broadway Genie please 🙏🏽
Here he is! Just like with Aladdin, this is actually the first time I've done a full illustration of Genie. I've done sketches and bust drawings, but never his full body.
I had a lot of fun drawing his costume! I think the pants were my favorite part to do. He's got these cool swirls going on, and I love to scribble so I really enjoyed doing that. Also, love all his bling.
Drew James Monroe Iglehart's Genie because I love the OBC. The original cast members are all very special to me. I really loved Major Attaway in the role too!
Hi there. For an Aladdin request, can you draw Aladdin when he's alone and singing Proud of Your Boy please?
"Mom, I will try to, try hard to make you, proud of your boy."
This is actually the first time I've done an illustration of Aladdin. Usually, I just draw sidekicks, so this is a nice change! Went with Adam Jacobs' Aladdin for this one, just because I'm partial towards drawing OBC. He was the first Aladdin I ever saw, so when I think "Aladdin" I think of him.
Proud of your Boy is such a beautiful, powerful song.
(told you guys I would get to the requests eventually, and now is finally that time!)
another aladdin sketchbook doodle. this one is from right before high adventure starts where Omar is convincing Kassim that they need to save Al
i've got a little bit more time on my hands lately so I'm trying to do more sketchbook stuff, and drawing these guys is always fun. I've drawn them so long it comes naturally at this point
Babkak in the marketplace. Supposed to be set during Babkak Omar Aladdin Kassim, as shown by the drum.
Babkak Omar Aladdin Kassim is tied with High Adventure for my favorite song in the show, with the former just slightly taking the lead lately. It's so much freaking fun, really gives you the feeling that the Marketplace is a chaotic and bustling spot. And the guys doing their dances all together is such a great time, there's so much to look at on stage.
I decided to include one of my favorite props: what I have dubbed "The Jewelry Pole".
"My finger's bleeding-!"
I love High Adventure, and Omar is so cute. He really doesn't want to be there but he's gotta support his friends in their attempt to bust Al out of prison. Poor guy is just sobbing the whole time, bleeding all over, but hey, at least he gets to limbo.
Drawing the dungeon is always so fun. Somebody's Got Your Back is one of my favorite numbers just because of how silly it is. Like Al and Genie are having a great time and then BOK are just in the background trying to get free and get their attention.
This time I went, Omar kicked his leg up like trying to get Aladdin which was so funny and Babkak clinked his shackles together along to the song, totally unbothered. I always love watching them in the background.
Iago and the Cave of Wonders, set right at the end of Diamond in the Rough.
This is the first time I ever drew the cave but MAN I love it. This time I got to sit fifth row from the stage and seeing everything that close was fantastic. The Cave of Wonders in particular was just....wow. Seeing it form up from the ground? So cool.
Babkak cosplay from this past Halloween. Since people here seem to enjoy my Aladdin art, I decided to share the costume I created.
Fully handmade by me over the course of about two months. I slaved over this thing and I am overjoyed with how it came out!
I didn't get a good full costume pic outside during the day so I had to take one in my room. Forgive my dirty mirror.
Bonus bit of lore: this cosplay was approved by king Brian Gonzales himself.
Highlights of my night at Aladdin last night (post show I always go chat with the actors for a bit):
Milo and I wearing almost matching earrings (wearing one dangly earring is queer culture really) and him saying he might make an earring like mine for Kassim (i wear a dangly scimitar sword on a hoop).
Zach telling me I draw his hair perfectly and that he thinks he looks hot in my art (he deserves it).
Brad giving me a big hug and wishing me Happy Birthday (love that king) and thanking me for supporting the show for so long.
The three of them getting excited over my art and asking about how I made it sparkly.
DDR handing me a card as soon as he walked out of the stage door.
Brad Milo and Zach admiring my Agrabah fit and buttons I made. One button said "Ask me about my addiction" with the genie lamp and the other said "honorary Babkak standby" which Zach loved.
Zach losing it over my Babkak Halloween costume I made (that I haven't posted here yet but I guess I should since I'm really proud of it).
Amazing night, always a great time seeing that amazing show AND getting to bring friends along to see it too!
BOK (& Iago) holographic polaroid prints! My most recent art delivery to the New Amsterdam Theatre included these lovely sparkly mini prints.
I'll post the illustrations separately, but I wanted to show off these prints because I really like the sparkles.
Current BOK. Love these guys.
When you're seeing this, I'll actually be seeing Aladdin on Broadway again with some of my awesome friends for my birthday! Perfect way to celebrate :))
I made the guys keychains when I went to the show in Oct 2021. Every time I go, I make them some stuff, and that time I decided to try making keychains! I think they came out all right.
Seeing these kings again this weekend, so I'm currently in the process of making them stuff for this time, which is why I've only been posting older/smaller stuff on here. I'll definitely post the finished products here as well :))
(I love that pic of Zach and Milo so much I didn't even realize Milo was doing a peace sign til after I got home and looked at the pics I took. The guys at Aladdin are literally the best, I love em)
It's everyone's favorite devious little man! This is actually the first time I've drawn a fullbody image of Iago since like 2021 and I'm really happy with it. Just the texture alone, I really love how his costume looks. We love seeing art improvement.
Also thank you so much to everyone supporting my Aladdin art!! It really means the world to see people enjoying my work, love you guys!
Old art that I'm posting cuz Brad finally went on Jeopardy and I'm super happy for him. King. I did this for his birthday in 2021.
Sketch of Aladdin. Usually I'm biased toward drawing the original cast when I draw, but this time I doodled the current Aladdin actor in the Broadway show, Michael Maliakel. I really like his portrayal of the character, I think he's my favorite Aladdin so far.
Sketch from a while ago of Babkak and Kassim. I really enjoy interactions between these two. There's a lot of snark and sass but you can tell they're really good friends who communicate via insults.
Kassim: "I don't stay where I'm not appreciated!"
Babkak: "Oh are you still here?"
Most brutal exchange in the whole show.
The Aladdin Wall!
Featuring: my college graduation cap I made, BOK character design prints by Gregg Barnes, OBC signed playbill, OBC cast and crew insert from the original souvenir book, and (possibly my favorite of the bunch) the opening night illustration by the amazing Squigs Robertson.
The four art prints were all bought from the Broadway Flea Market, but two separate years (BOK prints bought in 2021, Squigs print in 2022).
When Al and Kassim argue and bicker, it makes Omar anxious. So this is how Babkak dissolves their little spats.
This sketch has been sitting on my desktop for so long since I was meaning to finish it up digitally but I'm just posting it as is cuz idk if I will-
Babkak doodle from my sketchbook that I decided to play around with a bit. Love drawing this dood. Just a really good shaped guy.
Would you guys be at all interested in seeing my Aladdin stuff in my sketchbook? I do a lot of sketching, and don't always finish things so if you want to see me post sketches here I can start doing that
Crazy that this illustration was done about a year ago now! I'm still super proud of it, especially the texture on her dress.
I really love the fortune teller in Aladdin even though she's a minor character. She just seems really funny and cool. I think that she and BOAK are friends for sure.
Sorry about the lack of new art lately, I've been working on a rather large project so that's been taking up the majority of my time. I'll definitely be sharing it here when it's done so stay tuned!
A look inside my Aladdin Broadway display case. I've got a lot of memorabilia I've collected over the years. Some of my favorites include:
the original souvenir program (2nd photo)
a copy of the script (3rd photo)
bread prop (3rd photo)
the heart-shaped box of baklava prop (4th photo)
More info is in the image descriptions. Feel free to ask me questions about items in my collection if you'd like to know more about them!
Silkscreen print done for my boy Brian Gonzales. I made him an art package back in May and this was one of the pieces.
When you do silkscreen, you print one color at a time and have to line all the ink up each time, so I included the other two pics so you guys can see the process. So in total, there are three colors used: first the lightest green, then a darker green, then the darkest green on top.
Brian is literally such a legend. Nicest dude ever, and such a talent. Love that king.
Broadway BOK actors throughout the years. Did this one I believe in May of 2022.
Bonus photo of the boys with their prints. Love these legends. And love this pic so much <3
BOK silkscreen prints. They are each 6x8 inches in size. Done for the current Broadway cast back in Feb 2022.
Made these in my college silkscreen class and my teacher straight up jumpscared me and asked "who's Kassim" when I was printing and so I explained he's from Aladdin. Tell me why this man then said "mmm, looks like Aladdin in leather"
Tell me any BOAK related hcs that you have on the mind. Like any at all. I’ve been trying to think of a hc but I’ve honestly forgotten half of my hcs for this show djdndndndndnd
woo ok so here are a few just off the top of the dome:
Kassim made all the necklaces for the group. Based on the fact that Brandon O'Neill made all of them for the original show.
Babkak and Omar are really close. Babkak's a good companion for when Omar gets overly anxious or overwhelmed. He's super laid back so he balances out Omar's anxiety.
Omar is in charge of cutting everyone's hair when they get too shaggy.
Kassim calls Babkak "Babs" when he's really drunk, which Babkak finds amusing.
Babkak gives really good hugs (soft).
They're all queer. I see Babkak as aroace, Omar as gay, Kassim as bi, and Al as bi with mostly a preference for women. (sometimes it can fluctuate based on the actors in Aladdin's case). I see Agrabah as a (mostly) accepting fantasy world, so you can be out and not have to worry, save for maybe the guards.
Kassim actually really likes stealing. He likes the thrill. He's also the one who comes up with most of their schemes.
Babkak is in charge of mending their clothes and patching them up if the others get hurt.
Aladdin is surprisingly solitary. He loves his friends, but he spends a lot of time alone. His favorite spots to just chill by himself are on top of buildings.
Omar's estranged father is a member of the guards. He avoids the guards at ALL COSTS because of this.
Babkak spends half of the time zoning out/thinking about other things and just chilling, which is why he is always snapping out of it and yelling food names out. Relaxed king.
Kassim is the leader of their quartet, but others tease him saying "no Aladdin's the leader" just to make him angry.
Babkak and Kassim founded their group, adding Aladdin later and Omar last. They all met when they were kids.
Even though Kassim and Babkak make little pointed remarks at each other in the show, it's not because they dislike each other. It's actually because they're really close friends and that's how they communicate. I feel like they have a lot of inside jokes.
I have loads more, these are just the ones I could type up now! I can type up more if you wanted more specific stuff :))
Tell me your Aladdin Broadway headcanons or ask me about mine! Or ask me any Aladdin related questions honestly. I've been thinking about/ drawing these dudes since 2015 so I've got a lot bouncing around in my skull about Aladdin and co.
(also if you requested something in my Aladdin art requests, I'm working on it I promise, just been really busy lately. since these are just typing i can post answers quicker)
For the Aladdin requests, how about a scene from my Broadway sequel headcanon?
Had fun drawing Iago slowly losing his cool here as he realizes who he's talking to. The fourth panel is my favorite. Also really love how Omar looks here.
Original cast because I can. And I gave Aladdin his monkey's fist necklace because him not wearing it in the second half of the show is so lame, so after the show ends and he can be himself again I think he would wear it. Gotta match the homies.
(ps i have aladdin broadway requests open for now! so drop me a suggestion if you want! and if you already have I'm working on it)

"So here he is now with his band!"
Prince Ali animation I did last year that I'm still super proud of. I love the beginning of Act 2 BOK outfits, so pretty. I love animating sparkles so these costumes are perfect. Plus I love these guys.
Iago from Broadway's Aladdin. Love this evil little dude.
