A Night for Hunting Ch.25 – Hope on a String

A Night For Hunting Ch.25 – Hope On A String

CW: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, hostage, psychological trauma, unethical experimentation, angst, pining, suicidal thoughts, canon-typical violence, OVA 4 WC: 4952

Happy Chinese New Year (it’s the Year of the Snake. Ouroboros is a good snaky)! Have some Valentine’s heartache as well! I ended up tweaking the last chapter just a smidge. Let’s say it took a few days (instead of overnight) for Integra to arrange access to the SR-71 Blackbird. It helps align Alucard and the Reader’s timelines better. It’s been quite some time between drawing up the outline of these chapters and writing them. I forgot some of the details that would have ensured better consistency.

On AO3

An excerpt under the cut

Alucard touched your belongings with what gentleness he had left, a gloved finger tracing the plush material of a robe. He brought it to his face and inhaled, aching for more than the wisp of scent he was rewarded.

Integra had wanted to rebuild his basement after the manor was destroyed, to renovate it so the lower level was suitable for housing a living person when you returned.

Only you were missing. Stolen. There was no point in remaking his home if you weren't going to be there. He forbade the evidence of your time there to be desecrated by the workers seeking to demolish the sacred grounds in order to rebuild, so he chased them out of his sanctuary the few times they tried to begin work until they surrendered to his will.

A low hum vibrated in his throat as his head stayed bowed. Nostalgia turned to worry.

The vampire king felt your stomach folding into knots and your repeated sense of violation, yet here he was, rendered helpless and impotent to defend you. The distant recollection of a labouring man’s weight on his back surfaced, though it was no longer of consequence. It came from another life, the experiences of another version of him who was long dead.

Dracula had known war his entire existence. It was safe to assume the Nazis had defiled you. Rape was part of their conquest and armies did not stop at one male per female. His fangs dug into his lips and drew blood – he despised himself for his failure. There was no question he'd welcome you back into his arms after your multiple violations once he exenterated his enemies, but what if Millennium infected you?

What if you were a ghoul when he found you?

He knew what he would do, recalled what you requested of him. It would destroy him, but he would not let you suffer that fate and indignity because of his blunders. Taloned fists clenched and unclenched uselessly, his mouth curled into a snarl. The crimson tincture of arcane power seeped off his broad shoulders.

He considered other possible outcomes. There was also the potential they chipped and damned you as an artificial vampire. His blood boiled at such foul mistreatment. That was not how he wanted to turn you. His human deserved only a queen’s coronation if you were ever to choose vampirism, under a full moon in his coffin. Could he reverse their inferior methods by removing the chip and infusing his own blood? Would you be entirely beholden under the Major's control? Alucard did not know the answers to these details, but he would cross whatever bridge caring for you required once it came up, after he found you.

Crushed under the strength of his feelings for a mortal, his insides churned with festering dread. How was it that he allowed such a bond (a weakness) to develop? He was complicit and willing in his descent, and now he was wholly enraptured by your existence. The Nosferatu was a prisoner to your needs and he wouldn't have it any other way.

The first vampire was absolutely, fecklessly in love. This affliction should not have been possible for a creature of damnation like himself.

A Night For Hunting Ch. 24- Gossamer Dreams

Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, Millennium, hostage, canon-typical violence, medical trauma, unethical experimentation, implied torture, angst, pining, soul bond, OVA 4 WC: 5208

Happy New Year! Thank you for your patience and everyone's kind words. The lack of time and motivation and a plethora of distractions during a busy December caused the writing delay. On another note, I know people say not to write for stats, but we hit a new milestone! This story which was originally a 1.8k oneshot is now 100k words. The show of support has been incredible. I never thought I would make it here!

An excerpt under the cut

The sensation of being cradled steadied you. From the ether, an unexplained feeling of hope suffused your being, the feathery softness a tangible thing to get lost in. Within the haze of sleep, you reached through the bond to try touching it, but though you willed your arm to stretch out, you stayed frozen. Neither could you call out to that presence.

MOVE! You commanded your limbs to obey. Even your fingertips were immobile. You couldn’t flip around or wiggle your toes either. Unable to overcome the paralysis or bestir yourself into wakefulness, you could only spasm.

All that was left was to breathe and experience whatever this was. You found yourself eager to explore this phenomenon. Fear had no place here, so you relinquished reason and plunged headfirst into darkness. The space constricted around you in the abyss, swaddled by phantom arms that you somehow knew.

Purring. A vibrating cage surrounded you. Despite the claustrophobic state, the tension of days past ebbed and finally you could relax in the solid embrace, like being wrapped in a weighted blanket inside the cramped nest of a coffin after a trying night. Claws ghosted over the nodules on your spine as words like smoke whispered into your soul.

The velvet wings of a bat sheltered you. A bat? A dragon? You must be losing your mind, but as long as your dragon kept you safe under his wings, you would gladly stay there forever.

The creature drowned you in a sea of purrs. Fuzzy and delirious, you twitched and keened and basked in his glory, assured you were cherished and missed.

Everything was going to be okay. You knew this as though it was gospel.

Time was strange, but under the trance of the rolling purrs and the promises for tomorrow that thawed the frightful iciness from inside out, you found peace, already fully surrendered to the world of dream and fantasy.

He turned away. The dragon's mirage was starting to fade to translucency, slipping away with the likeness of water through stone. You scrambled after his silhouette which was growing less and less substantial by the moment. You would give anything to have another minute, another fraction of a second with him.

“Don't go! Alucard, please!” You chased the vampire to the edge of the plane before passing through him.

He looked back at you. Warm burning cinders scorched your soul.

Wait for me, my little human. His buttery voice echoed.

“Don’t go!” Screeching desperately into the void, you begged him to stay as you clung to the lingering tendrils of dream. But trying to keep him there was a futile exercise, like attempting to catch mist that was passing through the threads of gossamer webs.

Your curdled screams were fruitless. Your brows knit together in a frown as you tried to sink deeper into unconsciousness to stay with him. You wanted to sleep forever. Because you knew instinctively that to sleep was to see your love’s face and waking would be to lose him again.

HELLO! Omg I love your “A Night for hunting” fanfic so much. You don’t even wanna know the amount of times I visited that fanfic…I love the combination of fluff, smut, angst, and horror that fic has. You write everything so well and this fanfic has the best pacing I ever encountered. I recently reread chapter 18 and the part of Alucard wanting the reader as his queen in his past so that he would have been less brutal and then him wishing to have a little princess daughter hurt ugh…but so beautiful. You ignited my love for Alucard again so much. I’m savoring this fanfic because idk if I’ll ever read an amazing Alucard fanfic like this again since there isn’t that many fics for him to begin with🫠

Omg thank you 🥹🥹!!! It warms the dark pit that is my heart knowing there are readers out there who enjoy this story as much as you do!!! ❤️

Real life has its ups and downs, as well as moments that can be downright terrible. Imo a story shouldn't be only sunshine and rainbows, especially if it's trying to capture a relationship over time (with a being like ALUCARD). Their relationship is a journey :)

Ahhhh I'm so happy you enjoyed Ch.18! Tbh it was horniness that originally spawned that chapter. Those other details including his fantasy of making her his queen and having a daughter together was a spur of the moment decision! I'm glad it turned out the way it did!!!

The pacing! That's very reassuring. Thank you so so so much for reading and loving this fic!

A Night for Hunting Ch. 23 –The Art of War

A Night For Hunting Ch. 23 –The Art Of War

C/W: 18+, Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, medical horror, unethical experimentation, implied torture, coercion, gynecological trauma, unwanted object insertion, Captain, Doctor, Millennium. This chapter features real war crimes perpetrated by Nazi doctors. I don't think I am overly gratuitous compared to how much detail I could include, but I guess that assertion is subjective. I'll warn anyways, just in case: Dead Dove Do Not Eat WC: 4013 Happy Halloween 🎃! It's getting chilly up here!

Short excerpt under the cut

The sheer brightness of a real black sky far from civilization took away some of the gloom. The biting chill was a welcome reminder that you were still alive. The blustery gusts blasted through the tangled strands of your hair – it was kind of hard to breathe. Through the diamond dust that speckled the stygian darkness bursting through the haze of the galaxy, you found the Guiding Star. You joined imaginary lines between shining dots, wondering if he was looking at the same stars too.

Again you hugged yourself, recalling the times he thrilled over catching you in the courtyard where you'd lie in the grass together and watch the stars. He told you fantastic tales of the gods that the constellations were named for. Then he'd guide you home.

Alucard, where are you?

At times, it felt like he was near in your mind. Closing your eyes, you let the memories lead you back to him.

What a foolish exercise for a beginner like you. You weren't even sure if the sparkling satellite you were staring at was Polaris or if you were only making up the pattern of Ursa Minor, but you had to believe the Guiding Star was there.

It was the way of kings. He was like a shining star that guided your path through the darkness – a star of wayfinding.

Memories. They were all you had of him. All alone in the moonlight, its cleansing light washed away the adversity and purged the corruption that stained your skin.

Please come… (I will wait here for you)...

The humble thought was held as a votive prayer.

A Night for Hunting Ch.22 -Hell on Earth

A Night For Hunting Ch.22 -Hell On Earth

C/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, Millennium, Nazis, canon-typical violence WC: 5256

I’m trying to control my bad habit of switching perspectives within a scene, which I used to do liberally when it was between only Alucard and the Reader. It was an easy and quick way to include Alucard’s POV as well. But from here on, the Reader only knows what she knows, so I’ll behave myself…

The Millennium characters are some of the hardest to write since they’re like caricature villains at their best. I don't even like the Millennium cast besides the Captain.

Excerpt under the cut

Your gaze roamed the crowd of warmongers onstage. The Major, a brutal looking woman covered in tattoos holding a scythe, the Doc, the boy with cat ears. Your eyes paused on a behemoth of a man. He was as tall as Alucard. Shaggy white hair peeked out, but his features were otherwise obscured by a cap. You felt his gaze and suppressed a chill.

Horrifying power wasn’t necessarily evil. It was simply horrifying. But these Nazis, they were evil. And there were few things in the world as dangerous as people who believed they were right.

"And why am I here?”

"What a question. I did not expect Alucard to suffer a daft woman. You are here to be a witness to our drill. That is, after you help us invite Alucard to participate.”

All this was...training? The callous truth was worse than the assumption that you were only to be the hostage who lures Alucard to wherever their prepared ‘battlefield’ would be.

The Major liked to monologue. One of those self-important men who talked a lot, but said very little. “We have allies throughout the world who would join our cause. Decades of painstaking data collection to engineer ever greater troops. We have built monsters, though we aim towards true Midians. Train them, equip them, and command them. No longer is simple warfare adequate for our needs. Gentlemen, I call for a Great War, worthy of one in Hell itself. We are the Letzte Battalion!”

“Krieg, krieg!” The crowd chanted.

“Yes, then war it is… I expect the world to burn.”

In the calm before the storm, suddenly you saw him for what he was. The Major was only a man. Once upon a time, he was human, and like many others, he desired the powers and temptations of immortality. He may be the worst yet, arrogant beyond imagination and ambitious. Alone he was no match for Alucard, but how many vampires did he have in this army?

You were not strong in body, but words were a weapon you wielded well. The Nazis did not respect meekness. Neither could you be brazen in your disrespect. This was almost a reminder of home, the games of Hellsing’s staff, except no one was here to defend you at all. The atrium was silent after the delivery of the Major’s speech. The vampires below thrummed with soundless anticipation for the war to come.

"He isn't a monster, you are," you said, braving the Major's mercurial moods by stating the truth.

I Have A Personal Fluffy Hc For Alucard In Which He Uses His Shadows To Display Human Feelings. He'd

I have a personal fluffy hc for Alucard in which he uses his shadows to display human feelings. He'd unknowingly wrap his beloved in his shadows of he's either laying beside them or on their lap while their playing with his hair or humming him a tune or talking and he can't help those warm giddy feelings that his mate brings out of him and the next thing they know his beloved has inky shadows crawling around them with a couple of eyes staring at them meanwhile he's purring away in delight 😊

I commented on your work on AO3 but I need to tell you again how much I love A Night for Hunting. It made me sad that there isn’t a lot of long chapter Alucard fics or fics for him in general so I’m eating this fanfic up and savoring it🙏😩 The fic is so well written, I just absolutely adore how you depict LuLu🥹

Sorry for the delay! This comment got lost in my inbox for a bit. Thank you SOOO much! This is the kind of comment I'd love to print out, frame, and stick on my fridge to show off to the whole world!! Your words make ALL the difference. I love longer fics too and wish there was more for Alucard. I hope you'll stick around for what comes next! I've been sick though so the next chapter isn't ready 🥹

A Night For Hunting Ch. 21 -The Monster Of Legend

C/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, canon-typical violence, soul bond, OVA3, he is really fucking pissed Words: 4627

I know moons don’t normally go from silver to red in the same night haha. It’s also not the right calendar date for the blood moon, aka Hunter’s Moon, but it always shows up in the OVAs, so heck, here it is! (We do have the Buck Moon coming up in 2 days).

Thank you all from the bottom of my black little heart for your support after the release of the last chapter. I’m glad you’re still here.

A short excerpt is below the cut.

His hunt brought him to an elevator that his prey packed into. His loping gait took him closer and closer as they fled and tried to shut the doors while he paused to gorge himself on dead bodies. It was too late when they realized one of theirs was mashing the elevator keys to keep the doors open under his hypnotism. They shot their own in the hopes of escaping him.

Their dread left him heady with involuntary, twisted arousal.

Fools. Alucard enjoyed fear. If these worthless dregs knew how much he did, they'd be afraid to be afraid around him. He pried the steel doors open with the barrels of his firearms. The grin splitting his face became a permanent feature as the doors finally shut behind him after he caged them in with himself.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

The metal shaft descended, the ringing announcing the passage of each floor was lost to the explosive work of his Casull and Jackal. The clink of the emptied magazines hit the floor as the vampire found himself at ground level when he exited. The full elevator of dead critters didn't even tickle his need for violence, though the stench of blood and despair made him smirk somehow wider. It was only fair that they felt as scared as you were.

He sneered when he sensed life down the hall, an abhorrent fact which needed to be remedied.

Don't make them suffer.

A sweet and familiar voice was in his ears, as crisp as the purest bells in the wind. The gentle fragrance of orchids and stargazer lilies filled his sinuses, as if you were right there beside him despite the ocean separating you. Even thinking about the sea reminded him of the salt on your skin. Your smile, a ray of sunlight filtering through his darkest nights. His unbeating heart twisted with treasured memories. You were way up in his head and soaked into his blood.

Your wish was as clear as if you told him yesterday, but it was far away now. He was losing himself in the face of you in danger, the choppy winds of his mood whipped into a vindictive tempest as the gathering storm exploded.

Yes, I read that comment asking if Millennium was going to be in the work, thank God they thought to ask because it turned out to be a very good fanfic.

and well it is understandable since as you said they are Nazis. Honestly, your way of writing the text makes it more interesting to read, I don't know how to explain it but it has a lot of detail and a wide vocabulary, so even though you describe grotesque scenarios it doesn't become boring or cringe... uhh... I don't know what I'm saying is difficult to explain, just your way of writing is very good and despite the scenario it makes me want to read it even more.

haha that "ignorance is bliss" very right... and also because I have read about Dracula, I mean, the comments that fans make about the book say that Dracula is very evil, well it's not that much of a surprise since It's supposed to be Vlad Tepes Haha but they say he did very horrible things

and that Mina issue, uh, I'm curious now, I'm not sure what happened to her but I do have a general idea, as I said I haven't read the novel yet, I feel like I have very idealized Dracula haha, like the evil vampire that in the truth is that he is not evil, he just lacks love, yes that type of idealization, so when I read the novel it may break my heart to know what he really is 😩, well it wouldn't surprise me that much, just study Vlad Tepes a little, Yes, that's enough to be afraid of...? or disgust, but even though he was an evil psychopath, he was also a victim and a "good ruler" during his reign there was no crime, I think that is worthy of admiration? I don't know, he also did very horrible things (the impaled forest😰) oh, I got off topic a lot, haha, but this man is scary!

wow really? I haven't seen Hellsing 2001 so I didn't know that, and you're right about that, I also felt that the entire army was only useful for dying, I felt that they could have gotten more out of it, in fact they can still get more out of Hellsing! It has so many interesting things and so many things that are mentioned but they only narrate and do not give us another season (hellsing the dawn ahem ahem) I would like to see another season but with van Hellsing or in 1939

and thank you for your words, I'm still not very good with English so I'm still studying it, I'm glad it's understood and I also live for these types of comments! It's fun, especially when you're sharing opinions with someone who is interested in the topic. I honestly don't know many people who know these things, so I'm happy that we can start a conversation.🥰

I also hope I have put the information correctly, sometimes I get confused or sometimes there are some names that are written differently in English😰

Haha and the story is getting that much longer because of Millennium's presence! This fic was supposed to end at Ch. 15 🤣.

I'm glad you enjoy my writing style! I know it isn't for everyone, especially with the detail in the latest chapter, but it is heartwarming to me that the reception continues to be overwhelmingly supportive. I'm constantly trying to improve, whether that is in vocabulary, metaphors, or just technique in conveying a feeling or describing a sequence in way that is more than simply stating it. Thank you for such kind words!

I haven't read "Dracula," so I'm no authority on the topic, but I think he's supposed to be a grey character -neither completely good nor evil. This is much like Alucard, who is based on Dracula, who was also supposed to be based on Vlad III Dracula. I think while he was certainly no saint, he was probably not quite as 'evil' as historical accounts make him out to be, since history is often written by the victors, and Vlad's enemies had reason to make him seem a monstrous tyrant. In my humble opinion, Vlad III was product of his vicious times. I love a compelling, grey character although I too romanticize Alucard and Dracula 😍.

Me too. I wish "Hellsing: The Dawn" was complete. It was so good! Except I'm reasonably confident that it never will be, since Hirano is infamously lazy with his works. I'm glad you bring up "The Dawn," since that prequel was not finished, my fic ANfH is actually my take on why the Major/Millennium knew of the tactic to empty Alucard of souls to lure him out. I don't want to spoil more than this little twist. This is why the fic is tagged as "canon-related" and not "canon-compliant." Sigh, there's so much more to explore in the world of Hellsing and I wish we got more material.

Thank you so much for chatting with me 🥰

Thank you very much for the virtual hugs, all those compliments are a reality, you are simply incredible and so is your work! :)💖

I understand that you are afraid of "spoil" the story since I'm almost sure that most of us readers of your fanfic were looking for something a little spicy and romantic when we started reading the story haha, more than anything I was surprised by the level of crudeness in the one in which you wrote the chapter, I didn't expect it but that doesn't mean I didn't like it.

And yes you are right, although the world can be a beautiful place, it is also ruthless and cruel and in a war is where this dark and miserable part of the human being is most reflected, I love history in general and it is interesting study wars but it is still depressing to read all the horrible acts and consequences of war, that is something that hellsing executed very well. (Especially the Nazi issue) 😥

Wow, you really took the time, it shows that you are taking this seriously and it is admirable. I understand that it is stressful since there are many themes and historical references within hellsing, cheer up!

I hope I don't bore you with so many questions but I'm curious... Have you read the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker? I know it's a bit silly because you are literally making a fanfic of Hellsing and Dracula himself but maybe you haven't read it, I honestly haven't read it since I want to read it from the physical book haha.

Uhh last thing, I love that the reader does have a role in the story and is not just "in the way", I also like that the secondary characters also have a leading role, it was sad to read the death of the reader's bodyguard 😢, Thank you very much for answering my questions! 💖

I don't speak much English so I'm sorry if the question isn't very understandable. 😓

Never apologize for your English! I understand you perfectly well and in fact, you are more articulate than some native English speakers 😊! I think it's very admirable when people read in different languages, especially unfamiliar ones, to improve your language abilities. And I live for long questions/comments 😘.

Yes there is an element to not wanting to ruin the story when it is going well. I think the themes up until now have been generally 'safe' for a majority of the audience. However, another reader asked me sometime last year whether Millennium will feature and I decided to include them in this fic. Ever since I made this decision, the plan was always to go big with Millennium and have them do terrible things on screen. It just took awhile to get there. So the audience indeed got some of that spice and romance...and now MORE! The entire spectrum of feels! Muahaha. It probably was very surprising to see some of those less appetizing new tags, but this was how I envisioned the story going and I'm thankful for you and the other readers who are still here.

Sometimes I need a break from reading what war crimes happened. Or I do a double-take to check if I read correctly. People seriously do horrific things to each other, monstrous things. It'll be a reoccurring theme with Millennium. I also understand that some people wouldn't enjoy seeing the Reader sexually assaulted when it's technically supposed to be them. At the same time, I just can't see her getting out of this scot-free. It'd be unrealistic for nothing to happen to her as a Nazi prisoner.

Okay so funny thing is, I didn't read the Bram Stoker novel. I make fun of myself for exactly the same reason, but at this point...ignorance is bliss 😬. That saying where "the more you learn, the less you know" applies. I'm scared I'll learn something huge and feel like changing something this far into the story haha. Instead I just Google specific facts I want to know from the novel. Also, while the Reader can be interpreted as being like Mina Harker, I myself would rather not be Mina, a reincarnation of her, or any descendent of her. I am me (accidental Major quote) and I'd rather self-insert as myself. One day I'll read Stoker's novel and poke more fun at my fic.

Omg thank you so much! Technically, reader-inserts are supposed to be a 'less active' blank slate. At the same time, in a longer fic, it doesn't make sense to me for her to be completely passive with no personality, a passenger to her existence in her own story, so to say. That would make the story bland and uninteresting. It is also impossible to create a Reader who would behave as every single person who reads this fic would. Instead, I guess the audience can think of her as an OC without the physical descriptors and name? At least that is how I experience other writers' reader-inserts. She's still a little bit of a damsel in distress, but I like it and think it can be forgiven in her case, since she's just a civilian human mired in the world of the supernatural.

Gareth the bodyguard was a good guy. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the 2001 Hellsing TV series. That is where Captain Ferguson, Andrew, Gareth Henderson, and Chris Pickman come from. They are elites and 3 of them were great men. I liked how the Hellsing paramilitary from the TV series was an actual trained force that dealt with ghouls and vampires, unlike Ultimate where it felt like Hellsing's troops were all fodder besides Alucard, Seras, and Walter. It was a fun watch until the final villain, imo!

Thank you for such sweet encouragement! I do feel better about all of it 😁. Thank you so, so, SO much for these messages!!!!!

A Night For Hunting Ch. 19 -Valentine's

C/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, canon-typical violence, gore, Millennium, battle-thirsty vampire, some shadow writing, OVA2 @alastorhazbin Words: 5511

Another reminder that Hellsing is NOT a fluffy show, despite all the fluff I wrote between Alucard and the Reader.

An excerpt is under the cut

“Feeling sorry for yourself?” His voice slithered through the darkness, a soft rasp like a cat’s tongue, but it was oil on fire.

You bristled at his callousness, the false niceties rapidly forgotten here away from the prying outsiders. “You brought on all these problems of mine! All I wanted was a quiet life, not the spotlight on my face everywhere I go!”

He said nothing.

“It isn’t fair!”

His silence dominated like midnight frost, twin lights glinting as he opened his eyes, his pupils like pitch within an incandescent carnelian.

“Fair? ‘Fairness’ is but a pretty word, a reassuring concept for the weak of will who demand a seat at the table. The world simply is not fair, Dear.”

“The things they say about me! About you!”

“Should steel be bowed by the breeze? Or a boulder be moved by something as intangible as words? Their utterances are the mere rabble of the masses.”

“You make it sound derivative. Words can cut as deeply as physical wounds, Alucard.”

He laughed. “Only if you allow it.”

“You brought me here and that’s all you have to say?! You’ve never even defended me from their lies!”

“What would you have me do? Shall I present their heads on pikes? Or perhaps I shall still their tongues by commanding it so?” The blistering lights glowed with infernal power. “You will not find absolution from the rabble. Care not for their whispers.”

--------------------

You whimpered at the racket. The coffin smelled like Alucard, which was good –the scent of safety was always comforting, but the thunderclaps of what seemed like a million shots destroyed that illusion. It was almost deafening even from your enclosed space in another room. How could it be so loud? Was the throne room caving in? Were you getting buried with the rubble? Thank goodness for the coffin.

It began to glow blood red. Alucard wasn’t speaking to you, but you heard him all the same.

Releasing control restriction system…

Level 3, level 2, level 1.

Recognizing approval of Situation A according to the Cromwell invocation.

Commencing limited lifting of ability to use restrictions until the enemy before me has been rendered completely silent.

What was happening outside?! The temperature was plunging as bursts of light speckled your vision through the darkness in tune with the explosive banging.

Depraved aggression smacked into you. The vagaries of a bone-deep bloodlust came to him naturally. How Alucard longed for a good fight and a satisfying end. He was gloating and deranged. The gargling of a man’s screams drifted through the wooden walls of the coffin, though it was getting more distant.

Exactly what was happening out there, you couldn’t tell, but you didn’t like it. The scene of many of Alucard’s targets desperately begging him for mercy was something you were accustomed to. There would be none.

You recalled the warmth of his toothy smile earlier tonight.

More far-off screaming.

Your skin crawled. The dark lord of legend felt as foreign to you as a stranger, his glee almost drowning out your bond. It was disturbing.

“Luke Valentine! Excellent! I have not had this much fun in too long.” Someone else’s fear scrambled your head as Alucard egged on his enemy to show him more.

You aren't a monster Alu. You felt so small and insignificant.

The bloodlust went away as your vampire snapped out of it.

A couple who's BIG HORNY for each other Words: 5089

Extreme sex re: tentacle porn. But this is still emotional smut in the same strain as the other Interludes.

This chapter can be skipped and imo you shouldn't miss too much plot-wise. Something interesting that does happen will be described in later chapters. Don’t take the contents of this chapter too seriously. It wasn’t planned well in advance like most other chapters. The Reader is ovulating and so am I, that’s all. Oh daddy Vlad.

In this fic, vampires are infertile because they are dead, including their spunk, which Vlad knows. He's just indulging in a fantasy and contemplating a life which he knows would never have been possible.

I also went through this story from the beginning and made some small edits. I swapped some words here and there that I liked more and made two changes to ensure continuity and adherence to the canon:

Alucard should only be using one gun in Ch.7 since he doesn’t have the Jackal yet

In the OVAs, there was no painting hiding the entrance to Alucard’s lair

Excerpt below the cut

”Alu-!” You stopped in your tracks upon entering the great room after the check in the bedroom yielded no vampire.

“Vlad.”

The diffuse rays from another hall retreated shortly after illuminating the lounging figure, as if shying away from the night creature of legend.

Alucard was always correct whenever he mused about the wonders of darkness’ cover.

There was beauty in the unbroken shadows. The poor visibility compelled you to adjust to the nuanced differences in the most subtle shades of black. The brooding giant nearly fused into the surroundings, consuming any specs of light, his knee-length tresses flooding around him in an inky pool deeper than the background. No metal reflected the lamps outside. Vlad was unarmed, clad in a skin-tight suit covered in straps that outlined his impressive physique.

This was not who you expected to find. Twin citrine jewels flickered softly as they regarded you. You silently observed each other for a moment. Was he sad again tonight? No, clearly he could scent your need and was waiting to see what you would do.

‘The trappings of his physical form were meaningless,’ you recalled him insisting. You took wide exaggerated steps to allow your groin to air –and for your natural aromas to diffuse better. Kneeling at his feet, you wedged between the King’s knees and fumbled with the leather straps to fish out his member. The outfit was an irritating single piece garment. Fortunately, the clothing parted as you dug in and left you salivating at the creamy flesh nestled within a sea of darkness.

Summoning up a piece of forgotten courage, you glanced up at his imposing magnificence before standing abruptly to lead him back out to the throne room. Your lover was a king tonight and respect must be imparted.

You exhaled as you arrived and got a proper look at him. The jumpsuit accentuated the outline of those sublime proportions. His chest was thick and quads swollen with brawn; you could make out the grooves where his triceps began and where the “V” to his hips ended. The smoggy darkness cloaked him like a jealous mistress unwilling to relinquish her finest work of art.

His cock hung semi-erect from a carpet of neatly trimmed pubes.

The vampire was enjoying the attention, eyes sparkling as he watched you drink him up. The corners of his lips tilted roguishly and your gaze focused on those plump pads. Something snapped.

Your mouth crashed into Dracula’s in an open-mouthed kiss as you stood on the tips of your toes and nudged him back to encourage him to sit, to allow you to fellate the King on his throne.

Piece by piece, you took your time shedding the components of your night clothes, until at last you let your panties drop and join the pile pooled at your feet with finality.

His stare bore through you.

There was a low whining sound from someplace far away, yours, as you rubbed hard against his body and collapsed to the floor to settle between his legs again. A trail of fresh bruises were left in your mouth’s wake along his thighs. Audacious, but the need to satiate the flesh was stronger than any lingering intimidation inspired by this version of your lover.

The bruises disappeared before your eyes. The circles mottling the dead man's skin were never bright red. Angry maroon faded into smooth alabaster within moments as the pounding of your heart kept pace with the speed of your lover’s healing.

Your fist tightened around him. You latched tight and sank as far as you could, casting your gaze at him again proudly through hooded eyes when you barely gagged at this depth. It was the triumph of many months of training in the bedroom. Your cheeks hollowed.

Vlad was austere and gorgeous, and though he remained silent, those narrowed vermilion irises remained fixated on your actions. At least the way he gazed at you wasn't as lecherous as Alucard.

The vampire grew for you rapidly, a reassuring indication you were doing something well. The back of his fingers stroked your cheeks as you bobbed and applied more suction while you prodded his balls.

You stayed on your knees in supplication to a demon, feeling drunk in the act of perverse prayer.

You grew docile as you suckled your pacifier, marvelling at the fleshy taste of goodness when he tugged you off the ground and bent down to bestow another passionate kiss upon your hungry lips. Your tongues intertwined and shoved at each other. Your hands dug into his suit and traced the contours of his pecs, ravenously trying to get under and onto his skin. The royal vampire rumbled as you panted to catch your breath.

“I have something to show you, my Darling. It is as we discussed,” he said.

You almost forgot your arrangements through the haze. That explained why he was dressed this provocatively.

Show me.

The warlord’s hand enveloped yours as he led with a loose grip to the bedroom, where he stopped in the middle of the cavernous chamber. Somehow, you missed the leather sling dangling from the ceiling earlier. It oscillated ever so slightly in its emptiness. Not for much longer.

The vampire King, for all his nefarious reputation, stared down at you tenderly and smoothed the back of his hand over your face. So much power and all of it was restrained for your sake. A blindfold appeared from nowhere and he fastened it around your head reverently.

“Do you remember what you agreed to? What you asked for?” He said as he cradled both sides of your face and coaxed you into tilting it up at him.

T/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, canon-typical violence, angst, hurt/comfort, trauma, romance, protective angry vampire  @alastorhazbin  Words: 5757

I've stalled enough. It's time to get back to the grittier style of Hellsing and the action bits!

***I opted out of third-party sharing, but I don't actually trust Tumblr to honour this preference. So from now on, the rest of this fic will only be available on AO3 with links posted here. I spend hundreds of hours on this fic and frequently write well into the wee hours of the morning (4 or 5 am) when I could be sleeping instead. And I willingly do this for FREE because I LOVE writing Alucard. That this platform may now be selling my creative work that I poured so much of myself into (even if I'm merely a small author) to some company so AI can learn to imitate my writing (along with countless other authors) and churn out ‘fics’ gives me the chills. I guarantee the computer doesn't love our favourite characters the way we content creators do. The idea of AI-generated fics simply feels wrong to me and makes writing for fandom lose its essence. I am not willingly handing over full chapters of my fic to Tumblr to feed this process.

A short excerpt is below the cut.

The knight raised a brow. “Servant, if your human is to reside at Hellsing, she will eventually be dragged into our conflict with the undead. She must see firsthand what it is we do, preferably under controlled conditions, and she will continue to do so on occasion beyond this assignment.”

A Hellsing’s word was law and you must both abide by it. Never forget that you were here because of her permission. It was unspoken, but the threat was barely veiled.

Integra’s eyes narrowed. "Vampire, the Hellsing organization has no use for a tool that can't complete a simple mission."

Alucard dissolved into his spectral state before stretching into a disproportionately drawn out shadow of a man that flowed over the thick carpet. His smirk returned as crimson blazed at the challenge. He placed a hand over where his heart should be and bowed. As expected of Integra Hellsing to possess the audacity to issue the Devil himself an ultimatum. He enjoyed her headstrong nature.

He chuckled with amusement. Orders were orders. “Very well, we shall dispatch this band together, as you wish.”

“And you will ensure she is to return completely unharmed.”

As if it needed to be stated. You coming to harm wasn’t within the realm of consideration. The creature cackled at the idea, his laugh echoing through the morose chamber as vermillion flashed; Alucard became one with the shadows and melted away, the fading sound of his laughter the only thing he left behind.

It was his duty to protect you. He would not fail when you needed his strength.

A Night for Hunting Ch.16 -Just Another Day in Paradise

A Night For Hunting Ch.16 -Just Another Day In Paradise

T/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, soft yandere, pure sugary fluff, romance, slice-of-life, Valentine’s Day @alastorhazbin On AO3 Words: 4673

Happy Lunar New Year! It’s the Year of the Dragon, aka Dracula’s year.

This was meant to be Ch 17, but I swapped the order between the two chapters because I thought this made more chronologic sense. This chapter also fits the theme of Valentine's Day better! We’re mostly just catching up with what has happened since the Reader moved in before they go on a little date.

There is a lot of narration because I don't have the ability to write that much slice-of-life for Alucard since his in-canon states are usually sulking, violence, anger, emotional breakdown, and cockiness (to hide the emotional turmoil). He's a romantic, but the joys of normal living don't come to him that easily. Same goes for me trying to write it.

A number of months have passed and you were settling into your life at Hellsing, strange as it had become. You continued to work, but were also required to report for training three times a week, where you would proceed to get your butt kicked. Despite the muscle ache and fatigue, it felt good to feel your body getting stronger, even if it sucked to have Alucard see you getting pummelled by the old man Ferguson whenever the vampire happened to drop by and watch. Last week, you finally began firearms training after Captain Ferguson decided your self-defence will suffice for now at your beginner's level.

Alucard was not always at Hellsing. Sometimes he was sent away to other cities for ‘assignments’ for days at a time. When he was not called upon for his services, he would have ample free time, where he mostly stayed in his dungeon staring off into space while sipping his precious wine. It appeared these days, other favourite pastimes were for him to scheme up ways to spook you around the manor and chasing you around the courtyard for sport as you returned from work.

You were quickly learning to check your surroundings for his presence, such as the funny shadows in the corner and misplaced eyes peeking from under tables. You knew to brace for him suddenly coming at you through the walls. But the vampire never terrorized you down in the basement. Whenever you went to see him at night, he never came with the intention of frightening you. It seemed his lair was meant to be a refuge and he reinforced your visits by not scaring you off with negative associations with the place. As if you were Pavlov’s dog in training…

The jerk! He thought he had you in his back pocket already, didn't he?!

Still, you didn't venture into his dungeon nightly, even if wall lamps had been installed. It was just too uncomfortably eerie underground. The creeping darkness did not relinquish its clutches and every time you descended into the deep cold, it was difficult to shake the fear of the unseen despite knowing that Alucard would be at the end.

Absent from the dungeon was the sun, which you were mildly surprised to discover you needed, and experiencing it from your balcony was wonderful on the odd days when it wasn’t raining and the sky wasn’t grey with clouds. When you basked in the early morning rays of late winter, Alucard would wait patiently inside your room for you to leave the warm light behind and return to him. He would frequent your chamber when you didn't reciprocate his visits, so eventually you had blackout curtains installed in your windows such that he wouldn’t have to deal with the light.

Your internal clock now operated on its own timeline. Sometimes you were up during the day for errands or the odd morning shift, where Alucard would come watch you getting ready and then see you off. You could also be training late into the night or spending the witching hours with him. There was so little time to be idle.

With your sleep schedule all over the place, your circadian rhythm was likewise out of whack. When you nodded off in exhaustion in his arms or woke up in one of your beds, Alucard would hum to you occasionally when you were between consciousness and sleep, the enchanting baritone of his voice ushering you off into the safe realm of dreams or guiding you back into the world of wakefulness. He told you it was a lullaby Wallachian mothers used to sing to their babies to lull them to sleep.

Nightmares were a distant memory. In fact, you never even experienced anything resembling an unsettling dream since moving into Hellsing. You suspected it had something to do with Alucard guarding your dreams, though he did not affirm this. You never expected your lover to do this for you and you thought it very sweet of him. Under the watchful eyes and gentle caresses of the vampire king, you slept more soundly than ever whenever you were at last given the opportunity.

Your most cherished moments were when you read together at night, when you’d sit just close enough to touch, but both be occupied with your own material. Too many times in the past, he came to watch you read. As it became too unnerving, you finally offered to lend him the first books of the series you were reading if he was interested. It was a cosmic injustice that the undead cat was capable of devouring literature nonstop night and day until he reached the end of a book. No eating or resting or even moving from his seat, except the times when he'd pause to fold you in half and–

You had precious little free time, but there were perks to living at an estate like Hellsing. Delicious meals were prepared and laundry services were provided when you didn’t want to do these chores yourself. When you wanted to cook your own food for Alucard and yourself, a smaller, fully equipped kitchen was available so you could be his home chef. What a quality of life improvement!

You sighed, smiling to yourself as you stretched out in bed and recalled the whirlwind of the past months. At long last, you had a day off to yourself. Alucard was somewhere and you were excited to leave the premises to venture out into the city. Not only would you temporarily escape the polite small-talk and gossip of the serving staff, you could finally also get some fresh air away from the stringent rules of this military compound.

Alucard shadowing you was now a familiar comfort so you knew you were not alone, but there was a purpose to your trip today and with him absent, it was the perfect chance to go.

There was a bounce to your step as you made your way through one of countless identical hallways with freedom on your mind. One painting after another passed by. You halted, your hair standing on end at once when your eyes skimmed over a detail on the wall by chance. Crimson glowed from the irises in a noble’s portrait. Letting out a breath, you put a hand over your chest and scowled at Alucard.

The eyes curled with laughter. “You are becoming quite adept at seeking out my presence.” The shadows peeled from the painting and the towering vampire stepped out to stare down at you. “You cannot escape from me. I will always find you wherever you go.” He announced with a self-assured expression.

“I wasn’t even running this time,” you replied with an indignant shrug and tugged the straps to your bag higher over your shoulders. “I already have plans today. Find something else to do with yourself that doesn't involve bothering me.” There was a glint in his eyes as that smirk grew wider.

Your brows twitched. “I don’t need an armed escort!”

He was following you down the hall, so you ignored him as you kept walking towards the foyer, now used to the way his smooth gait made him appear as if he was almost floating. When the infuriating vampire remained at your heel several paces later, you spun, bristling as you tried to shoo him off like a pest. “Must you follow me? I’ll be back soon and it’s daytime!” You asked him.

He caught your hands with a light touch and brought his face close to yours, softly rubbing circles on your palms with his thumbs.

“You are my responsibility,” he whispered.

It was Sir Integra’s command. Vermillion pinned you to the spot and you glared back, pressing your lips together until you broke eye contact first and stared at the carpeted floor. You were his.

Alucard had already decided to join his human on the day’s adventures despite your protests. And so you ended up going shopping with an ancient peacock who didn’t know how not to attract attention.

--------------------

Colourful displays lined both sides of the boulevard and people were queuing outside several of the most popular boutiques. The atmosphere was electric with the air buzzing with life and excited chatter. You would have shared in the high spirits of the strangers around you, if it weren’t for your flashy companion souring the mood.

You were an idiot. You spent so much time researching which specialty stores you wanted to visit, you made no alternate plans in case anyone from Hellsing decided to keep tabs on you. Worst of all, it had to be Alucard. There would actually be no issue if it was anyone but him. All you wanted to do was to buy him a gift! How could anyone so old be this clueless?!

The flamboyant vampire towered more than a foot over nearly every person around him and people were giving him space. The bright red of his fedora and trench coat screamed, but who were you trying to fool? Alucard would still stand out wearing anything else in each of his forms. It was in his nature for the curtains to be drawn for him on stage.

The problem was you didn’t appreciate the attention as people gawked at Alucard, even if you couldn’t deny that it was convenient to have the crowd part to make way for the pair of you coming through. You stewed as you tried to think up a way to get him to give you a few minutes alone, but every swoosh of his duster only exacerbated your ire. With his telepathy, he should know what you were up to, so any element of surprise was already ruined.

“I can scent your frustration,” he stated with his signature grin plastered to his face.

“Why yes. Ever since I became incarcerated at Hellsing, it’s been ‘go go go’ all day, everyday. And now on my only full day off in quite a while, I’m stuck with you. Can’t a lady get some privacy?” You railed to air your grievances.

“You are not a prisoner,” he murmured with a frown while gazing down at you. Unreadable golden pools swirled lazily behind tinted lenses.

You rolled your eyes and was about to remind him of all your lost privileges.

“You are not a prisoner,” he repeated with his eyes narrowed, “You are mine.”

You jolted, eyes widening before your mouth clamped shut. The vampire was so casual with throwing the assertion around, especially in public. Of course you knew it already. He told you multiple times before and frequently referred to you as ‘his human,’ ‘his Darling,’ or something to that effect.

Alucard’s gloved hand remained on the small of your back as he guided you through the throngs, feeling strangely comforted by the claim of possession. It was the same way as he would through the manor, particularly on nights you were feeling intensely uncertain about your place at Hellsing, he would proudly let the world know you were with him.

You wanted to melt into the ground at the thought that being Alucard’s was merely a euphemism for being his prisoner.

Lifting your eyes as you noted the cross-section and stalled, the background noise of the crowd disappeared as you became the only two people in the world. The people flowed around you. You fidgeted from foot to foot as you looked back up at your vampire.

“We’re here,” you mumbled.

Alucard’s gaze snapped from you to the storefront. A chocolate store?

“It was meant to be a surprise.” You muttered with a deflated pout. It really wasn’t that big of a deal for Alucard to accompany your outing, but you wanted to keep the small components under wraps until you were ready to present them together.

When you looked back up, your view was obscured by a huge white palm. Alucard’s hand landed on your head and he ruffled your hair. His expression was warm. “I will wait here,” he said.

--------------------

You made relatively quick work of shopping inside, though you had a blast conversing with the owner and choosing the chocolates for your……boyfriend…

Your choices were loaded with coffee and alcohol-infused truffles. Alucard seemed the sort to enjoy the various champagne, whiskey, and espresso flavours.

Making your way through the patterned glass exit with the fancy bag filled with premium confections, waves of irritation washed over you upon seeing several young women making eyes at Alucard from a short distance. Luckily for them, they weren’t daring enough to approach the strange man. You pushed the feeling down and went up to him, whose gaze was already fixed on you before you opened the door.

“Little one, shall we depart to your next destination? The sun is rather fatiguing.” He greeted you with a grin as you took his arm.

“I apologize for keeping you past your bedtime. I told you to stay home,” you scoffed while rolling your eyes. “Why don’t you act more like a vampire and stay out of the sun like Seras?”

The original vampire lifted a brow at you. “The police girl refuses to drink and as such, she has not yet become a true vampire.”

You peered up and let out an exasperated sigh, “Stop calling her that. It’s not nice! She has a name and you’re always too harsh with her.”

“I’m not nice.”

You snorted at the amused vampire as a teen on a hoverboard charged closer at speed until his eyes popped at the sight of the crimson giant ahead, swerving to avoid Alucard and nearly crashing to the side. Expletives were hurled his way by other pedestrians as you and your vampire left the scene without a second glance.

“Little human, you referred to Hellsing as ‘home.’”

“I did…” You tilted your head with puzzlement, not even noticing when the word slipped as you were conversing. When did you start thinking of that place as such when the lifestyle there remained so foreign? You glanced up to study your lover’s face.

Alucard purred softly, the image of satisfaction. Up against him, only you would feel the vibrations of the rumble. "If you were my fledgling, I would not hesitate to feed you. We would have an eternity for me to teach you the ways of our kind."

There was heat in his eyes and you quickly looked away, so flustered your eyes darted everywhere except back at him. You weren’t prepared for ruminating such prospects nor this discussion again. Your companion chuckled at your reaction as he led you through a quieter street.

People meandered leisurely, stopping to point at the latest statement releases of the season. You ambled along awkwardly, caught up in the reveries of your own life for some distance until something in a display caught your eyes. Oh! Your interest had been piqued for months; you even spent hours on researching the specs and other alternatives to this product. You turned your head to stare at it as you passed.

Alucard stopped.

You barely noticed him as your eyes watered at the price until he was slipping away and heading to the entrance.

“Wait! No!” Grabbing onto his wrists, you tried to yank him away from behind. “It’s way too expensive for what it is!”

He took another step forward, dragging you with him, so you raced around to his front to block his approach.

“If you desire this item, I shall purchase it for you.”

“Alucard, stop! I really don’t need it!” Money was no object to the eldritch terror, but you put your hands to his chest and applied pressure to try nudging him away, to no avail. Several couples who were close slowed to observe the spectacle. A young woman tittered at what she undoubtedly thought was a cute exchange between a dark, dashing stranger and his romantic interest.

“Sweet, you should seize the things you desire, but if you are unwilling, I shall, as my offerings to you.”

Seize–

Your eyes bugged and you giggled sheepishly at the Medieval man in front of you. You pushed at his chest to try steering him away again with a big smile. Alucard’s brows furrowed.

“Something is amusing?”

You bursted out laughing, but attempted to maintain some decorum, not wanting to cause any more of a scene than you already were.

You whispered so only he heard you. “Alucard, you’re so silly! Sometimes people browse stuff only because the idea of those material goods bring them some joy, not because we actually want or need them. Have you forgotten what it is like to be human? It seems you have a lot to remember about human emotions.” Still snickering lightly, you tugged the large vampire down to lay a peck to his forehead.

You beamed at Alucard before running ahead to the next store, leaving him behind with a stunned expression.

--------------------

You had the wine and the chocolate. And Alucard suggested a much better destination to enjoy them together than your original idea of having them in his dungeon with just the two of you, though you had to make a detour to pick up plastic wine cups.

The rambling hills of Hampstead Heath rolled in tumbling waves over hundreds of acres that embraced ponds and woodlands. You passed the drive leading to the historic grounds of the Kenwood Estate. As beautiful as the building was, the idea was to escape from British mansions for the day.

Dense reeds swayed in coordination with the wind, thick and with the likeness of a woman batting her lashes at a lover. Waterfowl were returning to the ponds and the occasional nature photographer stopped to capture these winged marvels. Alucard took you through trails down the east end of the enormous park, sticking close to the ponds until you reached a clearing, and suddenly, the tranquil stroll through nature exploded with life.

It had been years since you last sat at this lovely hilltop viewpoint overlooking London’s skyline. Couples abounded in every direction. It seemed romance was in the air this mild, sunny day. Some younger pairs frolicked in a merry gambol while others sat together head on shoulder to enjoy the spectacular view. It was so warm there were even families picnicking.

Yes, this was superior to that dingy basement.

Nostalgia hit you hard as you took in the views of home. You used to live in that neighbourhood roughly over there. Day in and day out, you’d make your commute between work and home. And Alucard used to chase you around that area, though most of it was hidden from this vantagepoint. Turning to your lover, you found him lost in thought as well as he gazed into the distance, recalling a past brimming with events unknown to you.

The midnight essence of his locks billowed gently with the breeze. He was so pale. Despite his conviction about hating the sun, once again, the light casted his arresting features with a divine glow. Like a fallen angel, or something even holier.

From out of the blue, the hilarious image of Alucard as Cupid bubbled up. He was a lanky deity draped in loose robes, wielding a bow and shooting arrows at random pairs of people for his entertainment. That they would fall in love was merely an accidental by-product of his fun. You squashed the ridiculous idea hopefully before Alucard saw it too, but let out a chortle. God of Love? Him? Who were you kidding? Your vampire’s gaze slid sideways to you with a slight fanged smile before he turned his attention back to the cityscape.

The mellow warmth of the unseasonal weather gave you comfort. You came to the realization your previous qualms about the obstacles of being with Alucard were fading. Like leftover winter sludge melting away with the balminess of spring, replaced by your gentle, simmering affection for the vampire. Spring will arrive early, and the barren trees will likely come into bud soon as the season of new beginnings comes into being.

As always, Alucard grounded you too. Watching him stand alone, all of your doubt suddenly went away somehow. You were getting used to the late nights, early mornings, and the smarting bruises from physical training. It wasn’t awful at Hellsing as long as you had him.

You opted to forego Alucard’s old-fashioned way of taking his offered arm and laced your fingers with his instead. Putting your other hand over the back of Alucard’s, you exhaled. “You probably already knew of all my plans since you spoiled the surprise yourself by poking around in my head.”

You chose a grassy spot where the hill swelled higher to sit and your vampire joined you, throwing his spidery legs straight out as he leaned back on his hands.

“I know of the saint.” He glanced over. “Such an inane occasion.” To need the excuse of some saint’s legacy from over a millennium ago in order to celebrate one’s lover was indeed absurd.

The corners of your lips lifted. “Have you never celebrated Valentine’s before, Alucard?”

“Time spent with you is already the greatest gift.”

His stare was intense and your expression softened, your chest tightening at the sincerity of your lover’s statement, no longer feeling like being a brat. Time was indeed your limiting factor. You met halfway and kissed him with an extended, delicate touch to show him you felt the same way and he nuzzled you, as he usually did.

Yours.

“Feed me,” he murmured as you parted with a soft, dreamy look. This again. You rolled your eyes at his demand, but complied.

After letting the vampire open his gift himself, you went with a champagne truffle to start –to commemorate the occasion, but also everything that transpired between you. How far you’d come from where you began.

You sucked in a breath as the cold muscle of Alucard’s tongue slipped around your finger after he took the treat. He licked the melting chocolate off your fingertips with a deep rumble.

“We’re in public!” You gasped and ripped your hand away as he lapped at his lips with a satisfied grin. He sniffed the air.

“Scotch next,” he said.

“Only if you’ll stop being a creep!”

The vampire chuckled as he helped open the red wine. He turned the bottle over to read the label before decanting into the plastic cups. “Ah –an excellent choice.” He eyed the box as you referred to the legend to find his choice of scotch truffle. Not everyone could simply sniff out what was what from several feet away.

You offered the next piece and he bit into it while holding your gaze. Not bothered by his antics this time, you tossed the other half in your own mouth and savoured the flavours melting into your tongue. Swirling your glass, you took a sip of wine when the chocolate passed, pleased to find the flavours went well together.

Beside you, Alucard sampled his own glass and let out a contented moan. You shimmied closer to rest your head on his shoulder in imitation of the other couples around you and peeked up at him again with a tiny smile. It really was pleasant to see him this relaxed and carefree.

He fed you a strawberry truffle, leaving his index finger on your lips while you chewed, only to stroke your bottom lip after you swallowed. You broke physical contact first, sure the two of you were the subjects of greater scrutiny to whoever watched you long enough.

“This is why I can’t be in public with you!”

Your companion’s face broke into a wicked smirk. “Still heeding what others may think?”

“If you’d be normal, I wouldn’t have this issue. Not everyone enjoys being at the centre of attention.”

Alucard’s eyes narrowed into slits, though the smile now split his face in half. He was up to something and you were worried to find out what.

He stood abruptly and extended a hand to you, which you hesitantly took with a suspicious side-eye as he lifted you to your feet and you dusted off imaginary dirt from your bottom.

“Would my lady care for a dance?” The hypnotic timbre to his voice distracted you from the question.

Your mouth fell open when it dawned after a moment. You just told him! Centre of attention!

A busker was playing the cello in the park, the sweet melody carrying far into the distance. You knew all the lyrics to this song’s instrumental version.

The vampire guided your left hand to his outer arm to form a closed hold, a playful glint in his scarlet gaze. “H-here? I can’t–” you protested.

He was already moving. It was as if he pushed you along for the first few steps and you faltered, still reeling from the turn of events, but the vampire held you steady. Stand up straight, support your own weight, maintain muscle tone. Keep your weight at the front of your feet. The ballroom teachings from a lifetime ago whispered from memory.

Alucard was an experienced dancer. He led you expertly with fluid motions, drawing you in and nudging you away with clear signals that made it easy to follow. You felt the connection between your bodies. You twirled when he lifted your arm in an arc, spun into his arm backwards when he willed it. You stepped in time to the same rhythm as the background faded.

One step closer.

The chords sang out harmonious and clear. He was speeding up. Gradually, you danced faster and faster, waltzing to the beat in Alucard’s mind, a whirlwind of feet and swirling trench coats under the afternoon sun. You stepped backwards quickly as he rushed forward boldly, all your attention given to him for you to keep up. As was his attention dedicated to you.

Never once did he step on you, one of his feet was offset precisely between yours whenever he brought you flush with him. Never once did he look away from you or let you lose your balance. Who would have expected this wild beauty to be able to take his battle finesse and flow like water transformed by music?

Only you and him existed in the world, the colours and promises of a future together swelling your chest with joy that was at last blooming from a once dormant seed, one that only began to sprout in recent times. Despite his annoying quirks, you could envision a lifetime with this man. The idyllic routine of late was not so bad.

The song was nearing its end. The vampire picked you off the ground by the legs, the other hand around your back and spun with you cradled in his arms effortlessly. Your shit-eating grin matched your lover’s.

You finished your dance with one last spin and you curtsied to the audience that gathered. Your heart beat fast as you laughed and jumped at Alucard, throwing your arms around his neck and pulling him in for another kiss.

Please don’t let this end. You lost your reservations with the exhilaration, pressing your lips harder against the cool flesh and taking the time to breathe him in as the surroundings returned.

Looking around, you heard cheers, whooping, and clapping for your performance as you caught your breath. That was so surreal, but it was actually a lot of fun.

The music of your laughter chimed in Alucard’s ears and mind, clear as a ringing bell and pure and indulgent. It was your jubilation in his chest, the innocent joy at being with him. There was a warm fuzzy feeling that flared as you caught his gaze again. Cupping the back of your head, his gaze grew tender and he leaned over to make doling out your affection on him easier on you. Your excitement wafted off your skin. His bangs formed a veil as he pressed your foreheads together and committed this moment to memory.

You were simply too precious for this world.

Next Chapter- True Bravery

Notes:

The material goods Alucard uses are all luxury when it comes to weaponry, costing millions of pounds and a sizable dent in Integra’s budget. But Alucard can also be a minimalist and existed in less than Spartan conditions in the Hellsing basement before Reader. When it comes to his Reader, I think all Alucard would want is her time, touch, and her attention. He doesn’t need expensive gifts from her and would be displeased if she went out of her way to get something exorbitant for him. I actually wanted her to take Alucard to see a Broadway musical for a date, but writing a chapter following a live show’s plot and their interactions was too large of a task.

Reader is finally understanding Alucard's point whenever he declares that she is his and how it’s not a bad thing. It’s not merely a statement of possession, but also a promise.

Please read: Is anyone interested in reading some Vladcard bondage smut? I was staring at a pic of him and then BOOM! Horny! A potential Interlude 3 is brewing. Let me know either in the comments or on my poll to vote anonymously for a few more days. If this isn’t sexy, I’ll just keep my fantasy to myself, let it run wild, and continue with the storyline.

The above fanart is among my favourite images of Alucard that exists. It was created by the incredibly talented ケースワベ【K-SUWABE】 on Twitter (X). Thought it was perfect for the contents of this chapter.

A Night for Hunting Poll

I was staring at a pic of Vladcard and then BOOM! Horny! The mind started running with a potential Interlude 3, I'm thinking for Ch.18. If people aren't interested, I'll just keep my fantasy to myself and let it run wild.
