I have talked about my mental illness many times here on my blog. it is not an insult to me to be truthful about the fact that I am indeed mentally ill. I have severe CPTSD a lot due to my Queerness and how I was treated for it. I am very Suicidal. and have chronic depression and chronic Anxiety. non of this makes me stupid or a bad person. but Saying Aaron was mentally ill is not an insult to him... because he wouldn't have killed himself if he were not. I wouldn't have attempted it when I was a teenager if I were not. that's just how mental illness is mate. I'm sorry if you think that isn't how it works but it is. and to those like me struggling, hang in there and stay safe! I care deeply for you and hope it gets better:)

to all those who say "Were the children who died in Gaza terrorists??!" were the victims during October 7th terrorist? Obviously not... however you have to realise that these deaths occurred for VERY different reasons, this is WAR and war is sad and difficult, but Hamas started this war, they always do, they killed for no reason other than the hatred towards innocent people, Israel however keep trying their hardest to AVOID civilian casualties whereas Hamas purposefully put the very people they are supposed to lead and protect in harms way, if they weren't as awful as they really are maybe instead of attacking a festival and kibbutz they would have only attacked an IDF base and ONLY that... but guess what? they didn't... they went after people with no way to defend themselves! and also people who weren't even Israeli... 1. Israel is NOT committing genocide.
2. BOTH SIDES were given steps that they must take to insure that genocide doesn't happen. They must report back to the Hague on this in 30 days. Israel was already following the vast majority of those steps.
3. Hamas must release the hostages within 30 days.
4. Israel is under no obligation to accept ceasefire terms until the hostages are returned.
5. Israel is a sovereign nation with the right to defend itself.
Instead bullshit, bigoted, antisemitic, Jew hating liars are trying to say that Israel was found guilty of either genocide or some sort of halfway kind of genocide. There is no such legal term for a halfway genocide. A country is either guilty of genocide or it's not. Israel is not.

This is Ruth, a 16 years old teenager with physical and intellectual disability. Like many in her age, she liked to dance and meet new friends. Her dad, Arik, took her to parties and raves.

They were at the Nova festival during the Black Saturday of 07/10.
When the shooting started, Arik took Ruth in his arms, leaving behind her wheelchair, and ran for their lives. He refused to leave her behind.
The wheelchair was found burnt about a week ago, but there was no sign of Ruth and Arik.
We prayed for good news. For them to be found - wounded, kidnapped, but alive.
I got the news last night.
Their bodies were identified yesterday. They were buried today.
And I'm asking - you say it was done for freedom.
Yes, I remember the last time people with disabilities died for "freedom"

On this New Years, I really want to thank every non-Jewish ally who has stood up for us ever since October 7.
Every non-Jew who has posted in support of Jews on your blog, a comment in the replies of our posts, or even just a like. Every tiny gesture matters, because even the tiniest shows of support for us can get you a lot of backlash, and I know it has. You’ve gone out of your way to help us when you don’t have to, during a time when it’s costing you the most and when the whole world is vilifying you for it.
We will never forget who abandoned and betrayed us since October 7. But we will never forget who stepped up for us either; who protected us, who argued on our behalf when we were too traumatized and exhausted to do it ourselves.
Years from now when everyone will claim that they totally stood in solidarity with the Jews when it wasn’t cool, you’ll know that you actually did. And so will I.

A pro Palestine mob has just taken over a Russian Airport because a plane landed from Tel Aviv. They are stopping every car and checking passports to tell who is Jewish. They are going door to door in nearby hotels to look for Jews. They burned down a Jewish community center. They are surrounding random people on the street who look jewish and stealing their belongings to see if they can tell if they're jewish and therefore whether they should beat them. This is happening right now.

I've been trying and trying and trying to get back into fandom shitposting and metas and writing—escaping and finding some enjoyment in being here, but I just… can't. Fandom seems so unimportant now. What's the point of getting invested in any it? None of it's real, none of it truly affects our lives. And it doesn't change the real world; it doesn't change that so many people have died and are dying still—or that those I thought would protect Jews are engaging in the very tactics the Nazis and so many before them used to justify their genocides against us. I'm struggling to find the motivation to do anything besides wallow in the pain of losing family members, the slaughter of my people, and the danger posed to me, personally, within the diaspora. To be honest, finding any joy in life feels futile and wrong.
And this is why I'm so angry at all the random goyishe fandom blogs posting about how evil white Israeli colonizers control the world and are lying about what happened to them (but also how it would totally okay if had happened, since they deserve it). Because these supposed progressives? It's all performative bullshit for them. It doesn't affect their lives in any actual way. They can post about how (((Israelis))) are the real baby killers; they can deny the murder of Jewish children and rape while in the same breath claiming it would be justified if it was true. They can parrot every Nazi talking point in all but name, from Blood Libel to Holocaust Denial to the Elders of Zion, and still believe they are on the side of social justice. Then they can go back to their petty fandom drama feeling good about themselves and forget all about it, while everyone I love and everyone like us suffers the consequences of their actions for years to come. We'll live with the trauma and the pain and the loss—and they'll go on with their lives feeling morally superior to the people they intentionally, callously hurt.

Tomorrow, October 27th, marks the 5th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting. For any of those who may not remember or forgot a few details, especially outside of the US: in 2018, a man named Robert Bowers went into the Tree of Life Synagogue during their Shabbat morning services and opened fire. 11 Jews lost their lives. On August 3, 2023, Robert Bowers was sentenced to death for this antisemitic crime. This was the worst mass shooting of Jews in the US to date.
Yesterday, October 25th, Jewish students at Cooper Union, a college in New York had to barricade themselves in the library while 'protestors' banged on the doors and shouted 'Free Palestine'. Note that the students had done absolutely nothing to cause this and have absolutely no power to do anything about the situation in the Middle East. This was an antisemitic attack, not a protest. You don't trap people for a protest. That's basic protesting rules. Disrupting is NOT the same as trapping. Peaceful protesting is defined as not blocking doors. Even if the students had opened the doors the demonstrators were right there and threatening. Not peaceful. It took over 40 minutes for the students to be safely escorted out of the building.
Also yesterday, a 6-person family in LA was woken up at approximately 520am by a man who kicked in their door and was wielding a knife. Blessedly (somewhat) he had entered the master bedroom first where he confronted the husband and his pregnant wife (at 9 months which means any amount of stress could put her into labor and put her baby at risk). All four children were also at home. Luckily the husband was able to fend off the knife-wielding antisemite. Multiple reasons he knew they were Jewish range from the mezuzah on their door to the fact he is apparently a neighbor and had talked to them before a few months previous where he found out they are Israeli. He apparently was drunk but had the wherewithal to state his intentions: he was going to kill them because they are Jews.
October has not been kind to Jews in the past few years and especially not this week in particular. Please, we are not okay. We are very tired and hurt and scared.

Seeing that many people on the either side of the political spectrum seem to be showing their true colors, which makes me wonder, how can Jewish people navigate politics on this day and age in the sense of, can you ever feel welcome at any of the sides? (Just curious, is okay if you prefer not to answer)
im going to start by saying I’m one single jew and I don’t claim to speak for any other jews with my opinions on this because you’re going to get a different one depending on who you ask.
to me, there’s no way to feel safe anywhere on the american political spectrum. my views can align with one and I can participate in elections just fine, but I’ll never feel safe in a room with just conservatives OR just leftists/liberals/dems. either way, you’re faced with a different antisemitic monster, and people who identity as leftists/liberals/dems/etc are now committing hate crimes as well. people who identify as progressive are hatecriming jews all over the world. my mom is incredibly conservative and everything that comes with that, including internalized antisemitism, and even SHE sat me and my little sister down yesterday and warned us against wearing our magen davids so we don’t ‘identify ourselves’ as jews in public. we’re not safe politically or spiritually no matter how we align or how we identify ourselves socially. it’s been hostile for a very long time - this is nothing new in concept - but now even the left side of the political spectrum is physically unsafe. I’m not sure what the solution is, but it’s getting absolutely terrifying.

G-d I wish I had a real answer for this. I think it depends on the person, but is this someone you feel like will be receptive to you approaching her with some vulnerability about how unsafe that makes you feel? Do you think she will listen to reason if you give her fact-based explanations for why that rhetoric is more antisemitic than it is helpful to the Palestinian cause? + your perspective and feelings on it? If so, it's worth a try if you are intent on maintaining a trust-based friendship.
If you don't think you'll be safe/you aren't really in a place to take the risk of vulnerability, I'd say you have a few choices:
Avoid her or at least talking about that with her for now, and talk to her later when some of the heat has died down on this issue. Admittedly, this is not optimal because it's way easier to apologize and backtrack when the stakes are low(er), but if you really work on it with her maybe you could rebuild some of that trust.
Stay friends but don't trust her with your safety (emotional or physical). Up to you about how you answer her if she notices and asks about this.
Cut ties at whatever speed you are comfortable with and don't tell her why. You can drift or just start avoiding her. That happens sometimes for non-political reasons.
Cut ties with her and tell her why you aren't interested in maintaining the relationship. That's obviously the most direct, confrontational version; if you go this route but don't want to have a fight about it, you could just say "hey - this really showed me that you do not value the lives and human rights of my people and therefore me, and so I no longer feel safe around you. I wish that was different, but it can't be fixed at this point because I can't trust you anymore." That's a tough lesson, but it's one some people need to learn.
Obviously none of that is ideal, but we're not working with ideal circumstances here unfortunately. Idk if other people have suggestions, but those are mine. I'm sorry you're in this position and hope that you have other supportive community no matter what you decide and how she responds.
