When he finds out you view him as a father figure he’s a bit confused but also super honored.
He’s a little nervous at first because he’s never raised a sparkling/kid and he’ll try to read up on Earth parenting (even if you’re an adult).
He becomes pretty protective and will scold you in a very fatherly manner if you do something wrong/something that could hurts you.
Best hugs! If you tell him you need a hug because you’re feeling down prepare yourself for the warmest hug.
If you need a ride to school/work he’s happy to drop you off and pick you up and then listen to how your day went.
If people hit on you while he’s around be prepared for papa bear mode to kick in. He’ll pull them aside and ask what their intentions are and try to judge if they’ll treat you right.
If he finds out about dad jokes be prepared for him to make a couple of those occasionally.
Always gets you a gift for your birthday/Christmas (usually something you mentioned wanting/needing).
If you have a date with someone he’ll insist on meeting them to make sure they’re safe (he’s just worried his new kid might get hurt).
The first time you slip up and call him dad he’s confused and a little bit panicked but once he gets used to it he’ll just smile.
Will definitely help you with school/work projects as best as he can (if you’re both stumped he’ll take it to Ratchet).
Weak resistance to puppy dog eyes. You wanna keep an animal that followed you to the base and he says absolutely not? Puppy eyes and he’ll give in.
Will often praise you for the stuff you do and tell you he’s very proud of you.
If someone bullies you at school/work then he will confront them at their own home, they apologize the next day and don’t bully you anymore.
If you get a pic of you two made he’ll keep it in either his room or in his subspace.

One day on tumblr, something happened to my original account, and I had to make a new one. I was thinking of an animal crossing character who was a tiger named bengal. Simultaneously at that time I heard my classmate call another classmate "petunia" it was a trend in my grade for some people to call others by a different name. And with this all happening, I decided to make my new account name, "bengal-tigers-on-petunias" by old one btw was kinda cringey... I'll still share it anyways, @crazy-hispanic-fangirl

@blueberry-beanie So, jetzt aber! Also: Neptune ist ein mittelaltes OC, vielleicht aus 2021. Ihr altes desing war an die Farben von Neptun damals angelehnt, dieses Jahr, nachdem die Darstellung von Neptun überarbeitet wurde, habe ich auch ihr Desing aktualisiert.
Sie ist Kapitän eines Forschungs/Abenteurer Raumschiffes, hat lange als Navigator für dieses gearbeitet. Sie ist ein wenig naiv. Am besten gefällt mir ihr Farbschema.

Currently reading: I am so boring hahaha... I'm not reading any book currently (although I'd like to go to the library and borrow some). I'm reading daily news and loads of articles on Krautreporter, Bildblog, Correctiv and Übermedien. I don't know, since the beginning of this year I really have this curiosity to read all sorts of journalistic content. Yesterday I read several articles on Krautreporter about Israel and Palestine. Because I have to do the radio news I try to educate myself a bit on this topic, otherwise I can't understand the latest reports.
Currently watching: I'm not usually subscribed to Netflix or any other streaming services. Mostly I watch youtube videos, satire shows and documentaries. As anyone who follows my blog probably noticed, I've been obsessed with watching everything connected to Die Anstalt for many months now.

What's Merlin's deal, in your own words?
Merlin’s deal varies. He’s the result of mashing a few different characters into one, and he does a lot of dubious things in the texts which became most influential but does them on the side of the good guys so people want to like him and water him down into a less sinister figure.
It’s the Historia Regum Britanniae which lays the groundwork for the character as we know him today. First a wunderkind, whose father is thought to have been an incubus, Merlin is nearly used as a human sacrifice as a child but talks his way out of it by explaining the real reason why King Vortigern’s tower keeps falling down. He’s later responsible for the construction of Stonehenge and for disguising Uther Pendragon as Gorlois so that Uther can sleep with Gorlois’ wife Igerna. She doesn’t know it’s Uther at the time, so Merlin is an accomplice to rape by deception. Later on, Merlin is the magical advisor to Uther’s son Arthur, and Arthur is considered a righteous king (even if he does some very dubious things from time to time). That puts Merlin on “the right side” most of the time going forward but also doesn’t make everything Merlin does morally justifiable. There are some texts where he’s downright antagonistic—the big example being Eachtra Mhelóra agus Orlando, where Arthur nearly has him burned at the stake for his crimes but Arthur’s daughter Melora says they should show him mercy—and some where he’s just very, very morally gray. There are exceptions. Myrddin Wyllt, the possibly-historical Welsh bard who appears in The Black Book of Carmarthen, is more sympathetic, almost Lancelotlike in personality: after inadvertently killing his own nephew in battle, he goes insane and wanders forlornly in the forest, talking to a piglet because his sister won’t forgive him. Then again, “didn’t want to kill a relative (but did anyway)” is a very low bar, and that’s not the Merlin iteration who’s in the public consciousness.
The Merlin we see most in modern media is the archetypal wizard, the friendlier Gandalf figure who guides the righteous king, with his fouler deeds omitted or justified or glossed over, and that’s…fine. I guess. It takes away a lot of nuance, but if you want a wise, magical grandfather figure for your plucky young king, then Merlin is the closest option at hand and has a cultural resonance. I understand it, and I enjoy a good Merlin from time to time, but that’s not who he is, or at least not who he always is. I would appreciate more questionable Merlins—and they do exist. I would appreciate more meant-well-did-badly, non-Arthur-affiliated, bardic Myrddins, too.
(P.S. At least in the BBoC translation I read, Myrddin himself says that he is “second only to Taliesin”. Mull on that a bit. Given Taliesin’s own questionable moments, I’m not sure whether it’s really a compliment or an insult).
What’s Gringolet?
Gringolet, my friend, is a horse. Not just any horse, however. Gringolet (also known as Ceincaled) is Gawain’s horse, and he is a force of nature, one of the Three Spirited Horses in the Triads. Gawain is a notorious horsegirl, so naturally he requires a horse as awesome and bloodthirsty as he is, and Gringolet is at least as well-regarded as his usual rider by members of the Arthuriana fandom (I’ve seen tier lists which ranked him higher than Gawain). In short, Gringolet is a phenomenon, and one I’m sure a Beri stan like yourself would appreciate, though I admit my enthusiasm for Gringolet is not as great as a lot of people’s because there are other awesome Arthurian horses (Guinevere’s gray palfrey who can go on water or land, Kay’s horse Gwineu Goddwf Hir, etc.) who remain overlooked while he hogs the limelight. That’s not Gringolet's fault, though.

To add a little clarity, Jenny Rowland in that book isn't actually saying the poem is bad; she finds it very interesting and is mostly analysing it from a detached perspective for the antiquarian traditions it records. There's some commentary on the poetic skill, both positive and negative, which is where the section I posted is from; it's mentioning there's slightly less metrical, technical skill vis a vis the rules and forms of medieval Welsh poetry than some other saga *englynion*, supporting her proposition this dialogue dates from after the form's heyday. I just screencapped a bit I thought was funny out of context because I have a mutual who likes Gwyn a lot and thought they might enjoy seeing him getting kinda bullied, ahah
Fair enough, I can agree with that, and I probably should have read into it further before reblogging. I suppose from my own reading I've become accustomed to vicious authorly attacks on Welsh anti-blorbos. Like this:
Wow, Laurence Main, tell us how you really feel with those sarcastic parentheses on "St" Illtyd! (For the record, I have met that author, and he is a delight to know, but he does not hold back about "Old Ill-Tide" or Gildas and also hates Taliesin with a burning passion).

More sarcastic quotation marks and more hate for Gildas, who was not gentle in his own works and didn't mention King Arthur in any of his surviving writing and is still getting flamed for it around a millenium and a half later by people who are Maelgwyn fans, are trying to prove Arthur was real,* or both. I have written mediocre Gildas fanfiction at two in the morning with this as the fuel, because I think he probably gets too much hate, though having never met him, I can't judge any better than the people who claim he burned his praise of Arthur for petty reasons.
Anyway, this post went off the rails a lot, but all that is to say that literary scholarship can get incredibly opinionated, it's easy to fall into one viewpoint or become overly cynical about it in general, and I think I have mostly done the latter. Also, that Jenny Rowland book sounds rather interesting; I might have to check it out.
*For the record, I have no firm stance on the matter, since as far as I can tell it can't be proven or disproven. In my head, he both was and was not real. Schrödinger's King. Or warrior, rather.

I have a headcanon that Mordred is a little magical, like Gawain and some of his other relatives. I don’t think he’s been trained to use magic, at least not in any grand capacity, or he’d use it in plot-altering ways. Magic is just something that happens to him, like when he doesn’t drown during the May Day massacre.
Where does the angst come in? I headcanon that his powers, which aren’t really within his control, have a dark edge—the shadow to Gawain’s sun. Being around Mordred for too long can do weird things to people, and his presence makes them a bit queasy, even if they like him. Everything around him dies a little. It’s always been that way, he knows it, and it’s part of what drives his arc down: if he acts like a monster, well, some part of him always thought he was one, anyway; and if he’s doomed, well, given what he does, it’s only fair.
