Chag Sameach! Happy sixth night of Chanukah!
Fun Fact of the Day: Chanukah is celebrated at night because, like all Jewish holidays, it begins at sundown. This is because the Hebrew calendar is a lunar calender (and isn’t that fun because this is a Pearlescent MOON blog?) Currently on the Hebrew calendar it is the month of Kislev in 5785.
HAPPY CHANUKAH EVERYBODY 🕎✡️!!!! FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS!!!!! SEVIVON TO PLAY WITH AND LATKES TO EAT!!!!
T-that’s what we’re all celebrating today, right?

Happy holidays all of you! Hope you got tons of yummy snacks this year! I got some rice crackers tea and four different kinds of beef jerky! And a bunch of new crystals! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your holiday and a wonderful new year! 🥰🎉
For Chanukah this year I got a free pass to kill one person without consequences
If anyone is looking for a Christmas Hannukah present, I highly recommend The Latke Who Couldn't Stop Screaming, by Daniel Handler Lemony Snicket.
It's the story of a little latke who has to deal with obnoxious Christmas decorations who think Hannukah is Jewish Christmas. And also being fried in hot oil.
Ooh! This is giving me an art idea!
Attention artists drawing Chanukah art! (Because I've seen wayyy too many incorrect depictions)
-The Shamash (the ninth candle, usually in the center or off to the side of a Chanukiyah (Chanukah menorah)) is used to light the other candles. It is lit first, and is the helper candle. It's not part of the lineup.
-The flames are lit from left to right, starting with the candle/oil well representing the current night. For example:
If this is the first night: _ _ _ _ _ _ _🕯️
And this is the third night: _ _ _ _ _ 🕯️🕯️🕯️
You would start by lighting the candle to the leftmost on the third night, and then move gradually to the right.
-The flames are supposed to be kept burning until they burn out. You don't reuse candles from the night before under ideal conditions (ideal being able to afford candles, etc).
-You can't use the candles on the Chanukiyah lineup to light other candles. That's what the Shamash candle is for. You're not supposed to use the Chanukiyah flames for anything.
And if you still think otherwise, maybe it’s time you did actual research about this clearly prevalent history!
Just your friendly (or not so friendly, take it as you will) reminder that Hanukkah is a Zionist holiday!!
We celebrate the reclamation of our indigenous homeland from invaders who wanted to take away our culture and religion.
It's the story of Jewish self-determination despite all odds.
Doesn't get more Zionist than that.
Happy Hanukkah, guys!! I can’t believe it’s already here!!
If you think:
- the Magen David (star of David) is a hate symbol
- the Shema (which begins with “Shema Yisrael” or “Hear, o Israel”), the primary Jewish declaration of its religious theology, is Zionist
- that using Hebrew makes someone “sus”
- that Jews that are visibly Jewish due to their jewelry or dress should just “stop wearing things that make it obvious” for their safety
- that it is acceptable to protest or threaten a Jewish synagogue, school, or community center. . .
You can keep your “Happy Hanukkahs” to yourself. They’re empty, meaningless, and frankly offensive.
