hi! I’m so sorry if this is a bother, but i thought you might be a good person to ask. i recently rewatched danny phantom as an adult - i loved it as a kid and wanted a good dose of nostalgia. after typing in the tag it was wild to find the phandom still up and kicking (honestly with more passion than i’ve seen from any fandom in my 8 years of tumblr). i immediately came across fanart for phantom of truth which i devoured along with its sequel in just a few days. i also read pits by cordria and loved it, but in the last week i’ve hit a bit of a research lull. i was wondering if you could fill me in on some details - maybe point me in the direction of popular fics or material? also, could you please explain wes weston to me - is there a particular fic he was born from or did he just sort of appear in fan lore? if not no worries, but i’d appreciate anything you had to offer!! thanks :)

Welcome to the phandom!

So the phandom in general is SUPER big on events. We have a year round event's calendar of which we're currently celebrating Ectober Month! You can find the details to that in the calendar along with other upcoming events!

In general, you'll find a LOT of incoming dp fan media through events and their tags, and that's where I tend to find new writers/artists to follow each year.

I've made two in depth posts on Wes Weston, so I'll just link them here [1: the older detailed wes] [2: a more updated wes]. The basic intel though is that yes he's entirely a phandom made OC that we've just adopted to fill a social hole in the dp universe.

There are tons of amazing DP writers and fics. I'll link you a few of my faves! In no particular order,

1. @imekitty (her ffn) is an older phandom writer who is kinda my personal gold standard for angst. She's also done some awesome slash fics though! Her current most popular series is the Disparaged/Dissembled series and fair warning, it's pretty dark!

2. @ecto-american (ghostanimal on ao3) is another older phandom writer who's still super active! He's currently most known for his fic Broken Ectoplasm, which is a bit darker than his usual pieces. Regardless, he has a pretty good range!

3. @five-rivers (marsalias on ao3) is an absolute writing fiend. I literally can't think of a genre of fic that they haven't written. They're currently best known for their monster of a longfic Mortified, which is ongoing and currently sits at a 258 chapters, or a little over a half million words. I personally am a big fan of their Exhumed series.

4. @wastefulreverie (her ao3) doesn't write a ton for dp anymore, but her archive of fics is AMAZING. Every so often I'll just go binge her writing, it's seriously fantastic. I think she has written some of my favorite angst fics that I've found so far.

5. @ladylynse (lynse on ao3) is another really big writer who also does a fair amount of crossovers if you're into that. Currently, her biggest fic is The Trouble With Ghosts which is an extremely popular fic currently. Good stuff!

6. @things-i-cannot-do-in-amitypark (their ao3) has several extremely popular fics on ao3 and ffn. I definitely recommend checking out their stuff. They've been writing DP for years and really have a great grasp on narration and building an exciting story.

7. @kinglazrus (UnluckyAlis on ao3) is actually one of the fastest writers I've ever freaking met. They're most known for their fic The Survivalists which is about Danny's class disappearing only to be found stranded on an island. Overall, really fun writer and also a cool person as well.

8. I know you said you read Pits, but @cordria has a TON of oneshots on her Tumblr as well as her ffn and ao3. I've been following her works for years and she really is an absolute S tier writer.

9. Shift by CaptainOzone is literally my favorite dp fic ever written. The basic premise is that Danny didn't grow up in Amity, and is revealed as Phantom right before he moves there. Oz is an outstanding writer and I'm super pumped they dipped their toes into DP for this fic.

10. when im dead, my dearest by redrobin1989 is only three chapters long, but i think honestly it really exemplifies an incredibly well written Valerie-centered fic. I go back and reread it every so often because wowowow.

11. Roughing It by Haiju is a big phandom favorite. You already read PoT/SOAD, so I know you'll like this one hahaha.

12. The Ghost Of Heroes by Enigmaris and ScarletNightFury is a really popular DP/MCU crossover starring an amazing bond between Danny and Spiderman. It's a pretty lighthearted fic, but it's super fun and the storylines are really engaging.

13. Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time by MissMegHolden is a DP/Young Justice fic that's very popular right now if you like that crossover. It's ongoing and updates semi-regularly. I've been following it for a while and I love it, though this is one of my fave crossover types (and I'm a big fan of DP crossovers lmao).

14. In The Eye of a Needle by mystyrust is an extremely popular DP/BNHA crossover fic that is completed. This is another one of those fics I go back and reread a lot.

Okay I could keep going but I'm going to stop here for now. All in all, I definitely recommend scouring event tags for new writers/artists. The phandom also has a discord that you can always DM me for an invite. The phandom in general is extremely chill. We're an older fandom so we really don't have drama or anything.

Matt, as predicted as ever, was just staring across the scenery through the window like a doe-eyed child. The trees rushing past in a blur. "Hey Tom, are we there yet?" Matt asked, his eyes never leaving the scene.

"No." Tom nonchalantly answered.

Matt waited, letting the silence stretch. The car was silent, the only sound coming from the engine as it rumbled along the road. The narcissist humming as he tapped on the glass before speaking, his tone becoming expectant. "How about now?"

"Still no." Tom replied with the same response. Again, Matt waited, tilting his head to the side as he patiently waited for a different answer. "Now?"

"MATT."

Tord's voice, sharp and firm came from the back seat, breaking Matt from his trance.

"For god's sake, can you stop asking the same question every freaking minute?" He exclaimed.

The Norwegian wearily sighed. His robotic arm resting on the car door arm rest, slouching as he rest a hand unto his cheek. The mechanical arm, an unfortunate reminder of the explosion and the betrayal Tord unleash upon his friends long before despite already given a second chance of becoming a good person. His eye on the burned wound twitching slightly.

"I'm just curious! How can you blame me for being impatient when we've been driving for what feels like forever?" Matt whined, his brows furrowed as he huffed in annoyance.

"Because you've asked the same question fifteen times in the span of an hour" Levi, the ever laid back guy deadpanned, unamused by the constant repetition. He took of his earplugs for a second to reply. The korean was listening to some indie music, one of his favorites though Matt's complaining ever loud enough can be heard.

Matt leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest in a grumpy manner. "Well I can't help it. I'm bored." Tord rolled his eyes, turning around to glare at Matt.

"And it's not our fault that you get bored easily. Maybe you have brought some sort of entertainment before we left."

"But I-"

"Seriously, you've been asking the same question since we started driving!" Tord complained, "It's getting annoying. Just sleep or something. We should've left you at home."

Matt let out a exasperated gasp before glaring at Tord. Slumping into the back seat. The car ride fell into an uneasy silence again, the only audible sounds were from the car engine and Edd's soft humming. Just as Matt was about to open his mouth once more (for the record, he wasn't sure what to say this time, but he felt a strong urge to break this tense atmosphere), Tom spoke up, his tone slightly irritated.

"Could you all not start arguing again? We're not even close to our destination."

Soon, the red matter and jiang-shi both passed beyond sensor range and vanished, perhaps forever or maybe not, into the infinite cosmos.

[🍷Sixth group, Chaps and Zobie. Theme/Item: wine glasses🍷]

"Hiiah?!" Liddy's spine suddenly shivers and she lets out a small shriek, trembling. The cute girl's sexy scream draws the attention of the surrounding fans. "Hey, Liddy, are you okay?" Onpoo, who is next to her, hides Liddy among the crowd of girls to protect her from the boys' gazes.

Liddy: "…I, I have some chills. I'm getting chills!" Onpoo: "Oh no, I've caught a cold…" Chaps: "For Liddie. Here. Throat lozenges♡" Liddy: "Wow♡ Thanks Chaps!" Liddy hugs Chaps, who gave him the throat lozenges, because he's so cute. Chaps bashfully laughs, "Hehehe."

At that moment. "Chaps and Zobie. Bring wine glasses!" Professor Salaman announces loudly as he reads the results of the lottery. "Oh, they're calling me! My turn has come! Where's Zobie? Where? Ah, there he is, Zobie."

Chaps looked around at his classmates looking for Zobie. Suddenly, Zobie came plodding along from the back of the hotel.

"Hmm…" "Next time we'll be together! Nice to meet you." "Hmm. Nice to meet you too, Zobie." "???" Chaps unconsciously tilted his head, thinking that Zobie wasn't the usual one.

He passed through the creaking door and took a tentative step…

"Ahh!" The door slammed shut, and Chaps jumped up and screamed, clinging to Zobie. Suddenly, Zobie started laughing in an uncharacteristic way.

"Guh, hahaha… It's not so bad to be relied on by a cutie like that."

"Eh, Zobie?" Surprised, Chaps steps away from Zobie. Looking more closely, he sees sharp fangs in Zobie's mouth. He wasn't wearing one earlier, but now he's wearing his cloak. Chaps becomes more wary.

"You're not Zobie…"

"Of course." The person in Zobie's appearance quickly reveals his true identity, flipping his cloak over and answering in a voice much lower than his usual raspy voice.

"I'm Jiki. Count Boroso Jiki. It's been a while, my dear young lady♡"

"Um… who was it? It's been a while?"

Count Jiki stumbles as he sees the confused Chaps.

"D---, you little girl…! I'll suck your wonders away too!"

If I'm going to suck you away anyway, I might as well give you a kiss!?" he says, pressing his index finger against the count's face as he approaches…

"Hey, hey, more importantly…"

"…!! More importantly than that!? Have you been showing great ignoring skills for a while now!? My lady?"

Grrr… Contrary to her cute appearance, she has a strong heart!

Count Jiki is almost taken aback by Chaps' innocence, which doesn't seem to harbor any hostility, malice, or fear.

"More importantly, why did you become Zobie? Why? Why?"

With her big, round eyes, she approaches me, peering at me… and when she gets closer, she smells sweet candy… I can't take my eyes off her.

The elderly vacuum cleaner is a little embarrassed by her unconscious cuteness.

"Hmm… Zobie was throwing a tantrum because he wouldn't attend class… so I had no choice but to possess him and drag him here."

"Wow. So that's what happened."

"His collecting habit is also a problem.

There was the leader of the fly army under the command of Yumyum, the boss of the evil trio. And he was a person.

The Leader Fly became even more talkative, becoming proud of himself.

"So, the young lady's wonder to lead the group and host Memories Day is worthy of the position of hostess who will further support this evil family…"

"Hmm. In that case, I think she would be a good candidate to be entrusted with the management of the territory as a Countess."

Count Jiki, who was listening next to him, gave a strange response.

The Leader Fly began to get annoyed at this.

Putting aside the adults competing with each other behind them, Zoby and Chaps think about their assignment. "What did the teacher say, Zobie?" "I think he told me to borrow a wine glass." "Wine glass…? Then kitchen, Zobie?"

Suddenly, a flickering red light appeared at the end of the corridor in front of them. Chaps: "?" Zobie: "Someone's here, Zobie." Leader: "Ah!" Count Jiki: "!!"

Creep, creak, rattle, creak… "…? …He's not here…." Creep, creak, creak

Count Jiki (…He's gone now.) Zobie had his mouth covered in Count Jiki's arms. Leader (…you did a great job, chapsy.) Chaps was being held in Leader Fly's arms by four arms.

"Phew…Why were you two hiding?" "That's Hell's Chef, Zobie. You should have asked if there were any wine glasses in the kitchen, Zobie."

The leader and Count Jiki exchanged bitter looks and sighed.

Count Jiki: "Cautious… No, maybe it's because of your inexperience… Just like a Kakapo." Leader: "Jumping into an opponent with that murderous intent… It's like jumping into a fire, you know?" Chaps: "???" Zobie: "What's a sack, Zobie?" The two adults who had been through many battles felt a sense of danger at the innocent, vulnerable, and childlike two. The overprotective meter rose sharply. "My dear, let's use that technique." "That technique?" "Yes. Please, whistle to lead the fly army." "Zobie, you show off your forensic skills." "?" "Pewwwwwwwwwwwww! The leader whistles to send the fly army into the kitchen. The flies bring glasses one after another. "Oh, by the way, this hotel has a bar, too. Let's go there too." "…! Understood." Squeak snort

Chaps whistles instructions to carefully arrange the glasses he's brought so they won't break.

"You've gotten good! You're the girl I've got my hopes up for!" "Hehehe" "If anything happens to the boss, I can trust the gang and the boss with your back!!"

Says Leader Fly, smugly, at Count Jiki. (So don't get involved.) / (That's why I said, "Don't make unnecessary efforts.")

"…" Count Jiki snorts.

Meanwhile, Zobie's eyes start to sparkle as he looks at the glasses. "Wow, there's lots of different sparkles, Zobie."

"Come on, Zobie, find the best wine glass from these."

Count Jiki can't help but find Zobie adorable with his sparkling eyes, so he strokes Zobie's head and lets him choose a glass.

"…Hmm, this is Glencairn… A copy glass… This one is a zombie glass, Zobie… This one is also a pilsner glass, Zobie…"

"What's this one?"

Zobie looks at the glass Chaps is holding up and shakes his head.

"A snifter glass, Zobie."

"Isn't it a wine glass?"

"It's more of a brandy glass, Zobie."

Chaps looks over the glasses in confusion.

"Wow, there are all kinds of glasses."

"Hmm, it's just a fly's choice after all. A lowly person like me couldn't tell the difference between them."

"No way, no way." Count Jiki makes a sarcastic remark. "…Huh? So the noble knew about that and let the young master choose? Huh, that's not the best way to use your time!" The leader Fly immediately replies with a sarcastic remark.

"Ugh, that was the perfect choice to show off your maniacal knowledge, Zobie. Good job. You can step down."

"Now you're acting like a king? I hate it, but this little gravestone is your territory. This is the frog in the well." (frog in the well means a person who is unaware of the world outside of their own limited experience)

"What are you saying!?"

"What is it!?"

"You're saying something again, Zobie."

"You've been talking a lot, so I guess you've become good friends.

But if the wine glass isn't here… I need to find it. Right, Zobie?"

"Hmm? What is it, Zobie?"

"What did you do on the first day at the hotel?"

"Well, I went to the cemetery, Zobie. There, I met a fellow corpse guy… ah."

"What happened?"

"That guy had a wine glass, Zobie."

"Really!?"

"Yeah. Then I'll go to the cemetery and borrow one, Zobie."

"Yay! Let's get going."

The two of them hold hands and leave lightly.

"You've already been completely beaten by your students once…!!" "What are you talking about! You're just a worm that feeds on rotten filth like you!!" I got so heated up that before I knew it, my precious children had gone somewhere.

"What! Chaps?" "Z-Zobie?!… D---, I took my eyes off them for a second. That's what kids do…!"

And what's more…

"I found…" "!!"

The chef was approaching again.

Scratch…!

The giant knife was mercilessly swung down on the two pale adults.

"…Zobie, is this the guest room we're staying in?" "Maybe if we leave the hotel empty-handed, we'll fail, Zobie… And then I remembered, Zobie. The location of that old man's grave was closer from this window than it was from outside, Zobie." "Really?"

I entered the room and opened the window at the back. Grrrr Bwah

"Give me your body!!"

A bony arm reaches out from outside the window.

"Ahhh!"

"Hiiiiii!"

Chaps and Zobie narrowly avoid the arm that tries to grab them.

However, the outstretched arm doesn't retreat, and more and more of them appear.

The dried-up corpses lean out and grab the wall, making an eerie scratching sound.

Zobie and Chaps cling to each other and pull away, trembling.

"Hahaha, look! It looks tasty!" "You're weird for a customer." "The blue kid smells like his kind. Looks disgusting!" "Compared to that, how about this green one?! Hii⭐︎It smells so good, I want to lick it all over." "My jaw is melting from all the drool♡" "Come on, baby, hey, come here, cute girl♡ I'll teach you how to do this~"

The corpses swarmed closer.

What's more, Zobie and Chaps were led to the bed instead of the door, and were cornered.

"Aaaaah, don't come over here! Go away!"

"So, Zobie, I'm going to tell Dead Uncle."

Rumour!!

"…?" The corpses stopped moving at Zobie's one word.

"Huh? You know my name? What, it's you, Zobie?"

The hordes of corpses move to either side, and the suited corpse from the back steps forward.

Next to him is a sorcerer-like corpse.

"Dead Uncle… I'm Zobie, Zobie."

"You're Zobie Zobie, right? You remember."

"Zo…bi…e."

"Ah, yeah, yeah. I know. So? Why did you break your promise with the uncle?"

"…?" A promise? Chaps tilts his head. Zobie remembers something and looks down. "…That's…" "Uncle told me, right? When you left my grave. He said that while you were staying over, if you opened the window, it would be dangerous, so don't open it…"

"…Uh, I'm sorry, Zobie… I really wanted your help with the class assignment…so I opened it, Zobie…"

The boss of the corpses puts his fingers on his chin as if thinking. "Hey, how's the assignment…?" "It's a borrowed test of courage, Zobie. If we don't bring wine glasses, we'll fail, Zobie." "Really? We really need our strength. We took all the wine glasses from the kitchen…"

"Please, Zobie. Give them back, Zobie." The little corpse that comes to me in confusion is covered by the child corpse "Dai," who recently became a relative.

So, so cute. D--- it. Affinity is crazy.

"Okay. That's fine." The surrounding corpses are obviously disappointed by the Dead Boss's willingness to accept it. "Wow, thanks, Zobie!"

"But…" "?" "I'll lend you my wine glass. It's expensive, you know? My glass is. First-class." The sorcerer corpse next to him shrugs slightly and turns to the day after tomorrow, but doesn't say anything in particular.

"As rental fee, give me the girl next door, boy."

It was just an ordinary February 10th so far in my own room as i was at home filling in the pages of a certain large book that I kept over the years that keeps getting bigger and bigger every single day. I wondered if there was anything else useful I could do, but i figured this would be important to get done and over with while she had the chance. My cat, Luci, hopped up onto a nearby chair and pawed at the book a bit.

"Luci..." I said, while petting the cat.

Luci meowed.

"Just organizing my adventure scrapbook/sketchbook/notebook," I said as I put some pictures in place. "I sure have been through a lot."

Gunner walked into the room, looking for a picture book to read.

"Gunner..." I rolled my eyes.

"Just looking for a book to read~" Gunner grinned innocently.

"You're something else alright." I crossed my arms before smirking at him a little.

"Yep!" Gunner smirked. "So, whatcha looking at in the Great Big Book of Everything?"

"Just some adventure pages I need to sort out," I replied as he looked around. "I don't suppose you'd like to take a look at some, would you?" I then asked him.

"You suppose correctly." nodded Gunner.

"Well, all right, come over here," I said as I held out the scrapbook for him to see the various pages.

"My very first adventure was when i helped Reimu get donations at her shrine." I then began to point out, showing him my oldest photograph which was of me with Reimu, holding a donation box.

"HEY!" Gunner commented. "you didn't tell me about that!"

"Mm-hmm..." I nodded as I continued to flip around the pages. "Of course, Midnight Horror School."

"When you saved the entire school from being stuck in eternal daytime, the principal gave you this scrapbook/sketchbook/notebook for you to record all of your adventures." Gunner memorized.

"That's right!" I nodded again and continued to flip through the pages, until I reached a page that had classic cartoon icon: Roger Rabbit.

"Oh, cool!" Gunner remarked. "I know that guy via word-of-mouth: Roger Rabbit!"

"Yeah, that's an adventure I just know you would've enjoyed." I nodded at him.

"I bet I probably would have!" he gave me a thumbs-up.

gunner walked out of my room, leaving me alone again.
