If acknowledge it's out of character, is it wrong for me to enjoy out of character content?

Hey can we normalize not freaking out on someone when they get facts about Marvel, DC, or any big franchise wrong? Or when they supposedly mischaracterize a character? With these big franchises there is so much content to consume, you could be reading and watching it for your whole life and still be learning things, and there's always more content being made.

Sure there are basic facts: like Batman's parents were shot in an ally, Spider-Man was bitten by a radioactive spider, etc. But other than that, it's up to interpretation. If it's blatant mischaracterization I understand annoyance, especially in canon, but even then, they're characters. They can grow and change, and its not always how we expect. Plus, DC and Marvel are multiverses, things will differ from universe to universe- especially if that universe is a fan work.

Let's appreciate what we're given and if it's a fan work let's really really appreciate it. If you don't like it, you can obviously give constructive criticism (never on fanwork unless asked for), and you can share your opinion. I just think that we should give a little grace to the writers, because they have a lot of content to live up to, and we're probably fans with their own headcanons to begin with

Which honestly isn’t even fair to Peter considering how often the call is just a poorly angled iPad being held towards various spiders that Damian will then demand he translate “I don’t want to spray you just get out I need to shower” to (“it’s not a language Damian it’s just intent - they can’t sense my intent from a screen I have to be there.” “So get here.” “I’m working.” “Why? You do realise social mobility amongst the classes is a myth right?” “…? Now who-“ “Buy that joker shake on your way here for me. Bye.”)

Tim: oh yeah. He’s actually one of the few people Peter goes out of his way to FaceTime because holy shit he will answer in the craziest situations. This is the same man that joins JL zoom calls escaping an avalanche completely unmuted like “Morning guysaianwiwGAHHHjaKSJU-?!”

He’s also insanely nonchalant about it too like dude are you okay 😭

Roy: another no caller id warrior except he’s not unhinged enough to ft Peter without his number showing. There have been times however where he’s answered and a drunk Jason will be laughing filming whatever shenanigans they’re currently up to (yes, he still has screen-recorded evidence of Roy accidentally falling off a bridge and crashing into a couple’s riverside dinner looking every bit the drunk, overgrown ginger Cupid wearing a domino mask holding lethal arrows)

Random headcanon I just thought of inspired by my Peter in Gotham fic

Omg now that you said it Alfred seems like the obvious choice, why didn't I think of him first. But you are absolutely correct he would be the only one from the whole family to remember that they aren't there to investigate, but are a HONORED GYEST WHO REPRESENT THE BEW KING. Like all of them will just start intoregating the guests, who might I remind are super powerful, almost omnipotent beings. They will be lucky to get home in one piece.

As the oldest sibling of three, I can say without hesitation that if I was in the same position as Jason I would have done the same

"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.

All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.

Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.

"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.

The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)

The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.

"Jason Peter Todd,

You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.

Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.

you cannot be a fan of comics and be pro israel, or "neutral". that just shows you missed the entire point of what those fictional heroes stand for, why they were created, and how they would act in this situation.

ABSOLUTE BATMAN #1

i absolutely adore issue #1 of absolute batman srsly

as someone has just been getting into DC this year, but still aware enough of the basic principles of batman's origin and character, this feels like a really exciting, yet approachable story.

I'd seen online some complaints that it's the 'same old batman' and that it's just another 'rehashed story with nothing interesting or worthwhile.'

I've even seen complaints regarding the inclusion of (spoilers) classic rogues like catwoman, killer croc, the penguin, riddler, twoface being introduced or mentioned so early in the story or simply being mentioned at all.

First of all - it's a five-issue series - there's only so much time to introduce everyone - and I think the first issue does a wonderful job at setting up the characters and world right of the bat.

Besides, I like the rogues. I like the DC characters - I'm reading a batman comic after all. This isn't to say that characters haven't been butchered in certain runs, or that DC always tells good stories.

What I'm meaning is - just think about what makes comics so different from every other media format? Aside from the gorgeous use of text, color, form and image - trust me, I am GOING to be making numerous posts about the silly bat costume and the GORGEOUS ART.

I'm still very new to comics, so I might be off here obviously, but;

when I think of batman, I think of the character

and what makes the character of batman?

Well, absolute batman is obviously asking this question - they've taken away the money, mansion, and butler - on top of that - his mum is alive! (He is a mama's boy 100%).

BATMAN IS GOTHAM

Like; Alfred Pennyworth (HOT DAMN THO) is narrating most of issue 1, and I love it - but when he arrives, he's asking 'where is your heart Gotham?', and then batman later appears.

Batman, who has studied and worked every blue-collar job ever - who knows the city in and out - who repairs the stairs he breaks in the night at his day job. Who Alfred acknowledges is building something here - who is childhood friends with his rogues - he's protecting Gotham.

Even Killer Croc goes 'This is our HOME, man ... someone's got to do something!'

This is overlayed a photo of them all as childhood friends, and child Bruce is even smiling - it's so precious.

We're being presented with a Gotham that's in very dire straits - and this is a Batman that feels so much more a part of the city.

Batman LOVES his city, and he LOVES the people in it.

To me, Batman is a protector.

Alfred calls him a crusader, citing his mother as his one weakness - seeing Bruce come home to a regular old house with his mum sitting on the steps - that got me.

Batman has this single-minded devotion - that's the strength of his love. I never realized how weak that devotion to his ideals seemed when he had all the money and resources in the world.

You take that away? You get a Batman who has planned his entire life to learning everything he can, on his own merits - that's some superhero shit.

Anyway, I'm so excited to see where this series goes - can't wait to meet more of the rogues! At the end of day, nothing stings quite like childhood friends who aren't as close as they used to be. Plus, his costume is cool as hell and so so so silly.
