crack AU where L gets fed up with the task force complaining about him being chained to Light, snaps, and just brings in Near with the explanation that the issue is clearly that L is too old and Light should be supervised by someone within his age range. Cut to Light being absolutely livid for being demoted to a babysitter and getting chained to said baby (he doesn't know that Near is actually 13 and not like... 6. this also means he feels utterly insulted by L by calling Near "someone within Light's age range"). Fast forward a bit and Light and Near are actually getting along, which results in Watari overhearing L muttering "it should have been me..." more than once, with a depressed expression.

just read Noelverse for the first time and while it was one of the best pieces of fiction i have ever read and it has completely rewritten my brain waves, i have to say that if i had to take a shot every time i saw the phrase "he/she wet his/her lip" i would not live to write this

You slept in your shared bed while your boyfriend continued to work on a random case that he was interested in.
Suddenly you felt a pair of hands shake you awake. You opened your eyes and turned to the side to met owl like ones staring right it you.
“Hi” He spoke.
“Hey, you finished with that case for today? It’s like 2 o’clock in the morning, you should really go to bed.” You glanced at the clock, it wasn’t 2 yet but it sure was getting close.
“But you said you’d go take me to get ice cream cake.” L stared at you with the same look as before.
“L, please it’s so fuckin’ late right now...I doubt the store is even open..” you groaned..
“We don’t know until we try...” His round eyes stared at you almost like a puppy.
“L motherfucking Lawliet, I am not going out in the middle of the night to get you some ice cream cake...”
“How the fuck did you convince me to do this?” You squinted as you carried L on your back.
“I think your hungry...” L pointed at the store full of sweets.
“I think I want some sleep.” You muttered as you walked in the store.
“Hey y/n!” An old friend of yours waved at you from behind the counter.
“Why are you still open?” You hissed at your friend.
“Hey I’m not the one who owns the shop, you gotta leave those questions to the big man. Now what can I get for you and your owl boyfriend?” Your friend teased.
“Piss off F/n. Just get me the chocolate chip ice cream cake.” You still held onto L who was still on your back.
“Alright alright, here that’ll be 700 yen” your friend placed the ice cream cake in a box and you slammed down the cash onto the counter.
Now the two of you were walking back together while L ate his cake you bought him. You looked down at your side as L continued to eat the cake you bought him, man he was a hand full....

I think mello would keep the choppy hairstyle but use the layering of the explosion, kinda mirroring Lidner a little. Plus makeup. Plus his eye shape is kind of like Ls, with darker colours. Should've been brown but ah well. He's also missing an eye!!
Nears design is just his C-Kira design, except with heterochromia because I like the idea of him having both L and Lights eye colours to mirror how he sees the world. And freckles. Mello likes kissing them. :)

Alright Death Note fandom I need some help
I remember reading a fanfiction about Light at Wammy’s House (along with Misa, etc) that started itself off as a theatre fanfiction, but started to delve into a murder mystery (with Light being a potential suspect and victim). What I remember the most from this was the tattoo of the Japanese letter for 4 on Light’s ankle. The victims of the murder mystery had the same tattoo, albeit in different places. Light mentions curses, and he spooks L a little when he gets desperate for something relatable. I also remember Light getting a bit depressed after the first murder, not taking care of himself and L having to drag him out of his room or whatever. Details are a little smudged, but Misa also takes them both shopping. There was also a production of Opedius Rex(?) and Light was gonna play Opedius.
