Ron was growing weary of Harry and Malfoy circling each other like a pair of feral street cats gearing up for a fight. It reminded him of Mr. Mittens, the raggedy cat Ginny had smuggled home once, and his . . . friend. He sometimes worried that this all might end up like that, what with Harry throwing around wild accusations and Malfoy sneering cryptic shite at them in response. It was ridiculous, but Ron suspected whatever Mr. Mittens had going on back then wasn’t very rational either, and they’d still ended up with a cat, a corpse, and a bloody living room floor.

Im one of those people who hate canon malfoy for being a racist asshole, but i hink hes funny as a character if that makes sense? Like fuck the guy, but i think if we just dumped him in anti-fantasy racism goo and then let him sit there for a while that he would be a really funny character. I do hate how the fandom has made him all serious and mysterious, like you said. Hes such a little dramatic whiny little asshole and if you want to stan him, then you have to embrcae that part of him. The guy got rejected by some kid he met on a train and decided to hate him for the rest of enternity and suceeded. Hes a pathetic theater kid with a flair for dramatics who has two goons he constantly keeps around him at all times. Dont just overlook that, guys (the malfoy fans).
I agree! Malfoy can be a really fun character to work with especially once he can be somewhat separated from his bigotry. Not entirely, but I guess making him slightly more open minded & less extreme in his beliefs, cause it can be fun to have him be taught things too
It’s been a while since I’ve read a fic where Malfoy was really that involved but if you like Malfoy, the trio, AND the marauders the fic Marauders of the Mind is on fanfic.net and I think it’s really fun. I have some issues with it like the marauders aren’t their canon selves, they’re pretty exaggerated / ooc, but it has a lot of good Harry & Malfoy characterization I think!
not a fan of the twinkification of his character BUT i absolutely think draco would listen to hyperpop (if somehow given the opportunity) specifically in 6th year specifically at the lowest points of his life, like:

Since this fic is from Draco's point of view we might not get to see much of the second task due to him being unconscious but I was too tempted to draw this scene.
I worked quite hard on this, and also I wanted a drarry pin but they all come from the US, where shipping is more than the pin itself, so I’m probably going to make it a pin at some point in the future. If I do make it a pin, all profits will go to trans support charities because screw JK Rowling. Also there will be adjustments before that.
The story:
Draco lets slip he can’t produce a patronus.
Word gets around to his boyfriend, Harry, who isn’t having any of it.
What do you think Draco’s patronus would be?
I don’t really like the peacock theory, because he doesn’t have any happy enough memories, especially not from Malfoy manor, so I think a peacock would bring back too many bad memories.
The dragon one, bit better, but still, I don’t really think that fits him, but I’m not here to tell you what it is or isn’t. It could be anything!
The Phoenix theory is a good one, as Phoenixes represent redemption and new life, as I’d imagine Draco separating from his family and starting fresh, despite the fact that he was a death eater. I like that one.
But my favourite (and, obviously the one I chose for this drawing) is the ferret. Because of the scene in the goblet of fire, and that a lot of people see ferrets as nasty creatures, when they’re really quite sweet, similar to how I see Draco.
But also because another name for a ferret (that I’ve heard) is a catsnake, and this is drarry, so lion + serpent, cat + snake.
Also, the story is that Draco doesn’t have a happy enough memory, so Harry helps him make one.
So, ferret is my favourite!
Malfoy: Oh please! You wouldn't hurt a fly.

Draco is a brat who doesn't understand why Harry doesn't like him (at first) and it is the cutest thing ever. Like their first meeting at Malkin's is just the best thing ever! I love my mind! 🥰

I love me some Pansy and this fic delivers on that front 100%. Eighth year fics hold a special place in my heart, double if they have cute little drinking game nights. Triple if those cute little drinking nights lead to unresolved sexual tension and you KNOW this one does. This is 100k+ words of banter, fun, and smut that's worth the wait.
