What’s your blog about?

Used to be a place for keepin' some fond memories, but nowadays it's mainly for meeting and chatting with nice folks such as yourself! And occasionally re-blogging things of interest!

Hey, just found out about "Are We Doing This Thing or Not". From the transcript, it sounds very sweet. Was there ever a recording?

Thank you! It was a joy to sing. Last I heard, Henry had the recording.

Out of curiosity, what's the last thing you remember before the abime?

Feel like I've always had one foot in here in those early days, but it's hard to tell. It was a kinda mix of both. Sometimes I'd feel like one of those insects with the eyes that are a buncha tiny eyes all together, you know -- Henry showed me a photograph of one once -- watching eighty different things in eighty different places. Sometimes it's all just quiet. Nowadays, it's mostly quiet, so I feel like I can be in here in one piece real solid.

S'pose the only memory I can concretely say was before all of this was being seventeen or eighteen, tickling the Ivories in that recording room. Singing.

Aces! This is incredible. I do like flowers! Haven't thought about them in a while, and these are ab-so-lute-ly perfect!

Hey @williamy3w You’ve Been Really Nice About Answering Our Questions, So I Thought I’d Draw Something

hey is everyone in the abime a musician of some sort?

Huh! S'pose we all are. Even ol' Thomas plays the violin, though he thinks he ain't too good.

When did you first meet Henry? Do you remember what year it was?

Early 1986 or thereabouts!

Do you remember how you entered the abime? Did you do it on purpose?

Ain't got any memory of it, no. Just seems like one day the memories stopped.

How'd you meet Tati?

Through the boy she used to go steady with - short-lived as that was..

I was there watching him pull out all the stops for her.

Not exactly compatible. Well --

All things of the past now.

So you know The Stratagems - have you heard their song “Nobody Knows”? It’s not the same as the one on your cylinder, but there are similarities for sure.

Yes, indeed! I think the tune on my cylinder pre-dates those fellas, so they might've taken some inspiration.

how did you get to know the stratagems?

I remember -- that recording booth. Four faces in that glass reflection. Long session, but boy, was it worth it! I remember jam sessions, a crowd, a banner with their names on it. It comes in bits and pieces.

The first memory of them I rightly recall, I'd say, is sitting across from them. One of their living rooms, I think, with a little brown Steinway upright in the corner. All four of them crowded casual-like onto the couch across from me. Strains of a rag in the air, with us all tapping along to it, the music vibrating through our feet and bones. Next thing I know, I'm looking down at the ivories of that Steinway, and we're all making a tune!

I can only imagine! It sounded like you did have more company previously though, before. Did the others leave when you started hiding? What are you hiding from? Are you not in contact with any of them any more?

I won't be getting into specifics. But it's quiet around here!

hi how old were you when you came into the abime?

All grown up, but still a boy. I'd wager 18?

Hi William. I imagine it must be a bit odd having a bunch of strangers on your blog and asking a bunch of personal questions without even introducing ourselves. Sorry about that.

That’s perfectly all right! The more the merrier — boy, am I glad to have company!

Something Like This Perhaps!

Something like this perhaps!

thoughts on dogs?

The golden ones remind me of Henry! Seen a couple from afar (and now I've seen photographs and such, of course) but always wondered what those things felt like.

Henry says he’s sorry

Oh…what's he got to be sorry for? Tell him to get his ass back here! I miss him.

what's the big red box?

Figure that's Mallory Jane's little whastahoosit -- she and Henry got their kicks noodlin' around on all these on-line musical gizmos for a while -- they'd jam out for a bit and then wax a disc. Can't say where the tunes have gone now -- I bet one of 'em's got it all stashed somewhere.

when did you leave Chinatown?

I don't recall too exactly, but I'd wager sometime in the early 1900s. Heard there was a big quake there but that doesn't really ring bells, so I must've been outta there by then.

what was your sweetheart's name?

Huh…goddamnit. I suppose I can’t recall.

What's your favourite part of the human body

It ain't fit for printing, kid!

by the way, I think the song on your cylinder (from the pinned post) might be by The Stratagems

I've known those fellas in the past! Not sure if they made the tune on the cylinder -- not sure why they wouldn't be singing together.

did you kill someone?

Once or twice, yup! I mean, did what any fella would do to survive, really. It was that kinda business left and right back then — they don’t call it the Wild West for nothin!

hi! you said earlier that we could ask henry if we were unsure about something, right? where can we find henry?

Boy, I wish I knew! He left a while ago. Before the rest of us started hidin’. I moreso was insinuating I find getting more opinions on any sticky situation helps me. Whoever your Henry might be.

(Though, if you do see him, gimme a shout, all right? It ain’t safe out there alone. Please. Thank you so very much.)

You can also always slip me questions you have. No guarantee I‘ve got the answers for all of ‘em, but there’s no harm in givin’ it a shot!

I don't even know where to start. I have so many questions.

Well, when something used to stump me, I'd ask Henry about it. More brains is better than one! And keep watching -- I can't see as much as you kids think I can. None of us is used to hidin' out all scattered like.

Thanks! My lack of digital savvy always used to crack Tati up. But looks like I'm really cooking with gas now!

hey, welcome to tumblr - actually, i guess “welcome back” would be more accurate. nice blog you’ve got here!

Thanks a ton! Had a pal who showed me around here, and boy, it's different from out in the ether, but think I'm getting the hang of it. Figured I'd stick around a bit longer since my pal left.
