Make your games more accessible by

Allowing Button remapping

Supporting multiple kinds of controllers

Supporting multiple types of inputs for when solving puzzles or clues

Match the color and or pattern puzzle

Follow the sound and controller vibration to find the mcguffin

Allow for zooming in and out if you’re doing any kind of “pattern alignment” puzzle. 

Subtitles on everything, for fuck’s sake

If your motion/camera thing’s instructions start with “stand up and….”, rethink your design.

Allow for adjusting the field of view

Aim assist.

If someone is struggling with a puzzle or task, start offering tool tips and hints on screen

Remember that the goal is not to have the player play the game like you would. The goal is for the gamer to have fun and experience the game and art you’ve spent so much time and energy to create in a way that brings them joy.

Removing and avoiding harmful tropes around disability - physical or otherwise.

Symbolism of Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk:

Okay I was scrolling and it suddenly hit me why I felt way more attached to the dynamic that Shadow Milk and Pure Vanilla had then say Dark Cacao and Mystic flour It’s because of the freaking double meaning to their primary roles as a Jester and King. (And me having the cultural knowledge to get any secondary meaning between their roles unlike the other two ancients at the minute).

So in the modern media and more frequent interpretation of the royal court the Jester was there to entertain, which is how SM is introduce to us, but in some cases it wasn’t their only job in court. They could responsible for bearing bad news to the King but also being one of the few people in court who could publicly mock and talk freely to him, so long as it seemed funny. This reflects on the actual game as Shadow Milk is the only one be it positive or negative that will not speak to Pure Vanilla without some form of formality.

While yes PV is friends with the other ancients there’s still a formality between them due to their ranks and roles even with Gingerbrave and Co they’re still a bit formal to him as he’s their elder. Shadow Milk as his elder in age but equal in terms of power (due to possessing the same soul jam), is the only one who talks frankly to him.

As for bearing bad news (yes this is relative but makes sense in context) SM is the one albeit in a very manipulative and disingenuous manner informs PV truth is only relative to the individual or group but is made up of lies varying from meaningless to meaningful, and that even he will lie as some situations a sweet lie is better than the bitter truth.

SM both directly and indirectly aided in PV’s decision making which on occasion for some Jesters was their role albeit this was extremely uncommon. Which ended up with the Truthless Recluse and eventually Compassionate.

All this making their roles as the Jester and the King even more intertwined than just a cosmetic choice.

Been thinking (ya know instead of sleeping) on how busted White Lily will be when she inevitably gets an awakened form due to power creep. It likely won’t be for now just based on where the narrative is and how she’s still relatively good in the meta and with Holly right there along with the witch arc too but yeah. Like she’s already strong and her animation be crazy on the processing so idk how that’ll work. That’s not even touching on how that’ll work narratively.

(My opinion on that while I’m half asleep is she’ll break down due to Dark enchantress then deal with her beast).

But yeah I’m signing off I don’t even want to think about the beasts in the future getting buffed. 😅

One thing I noticed in the alterhuman community is that most of us use names that relate a lot to our theriotypes. I'm Watcher because I'm a cat, @talon-dragonbeast is Talon because she's a dragon, @harpyrex is a Harpy... You understand what I mean, right? However, I've been wondering if irl names that creatures here use are related to their therianthropy. I'm guessing no, but I don't really know.

So, regarding your irl name, how much does this name relate to your theriotype/s? I'm talking about legal name, or the one you use the most with friends or family if you're trans, or nicknames. (DON'T TELL ME YOUR IRL NAME IF YOU DON'T WANT TO). If your irl name doesn't relate to your theriotype/kintype, would you legally change it to one more keen to your theriotype? Below is a poll you can answer with this question.

For example, my legal name is my deadname because my parents are transphobic and won't let me change my name. However, in college and with everyone irl who is not my family, I use another name. This name is gender neutral/masculine because I'm non binary, I use he/they pronouns irl, and it looks like a dog name. Tho I was not aware of this when I chose it, because I was fifteen and I didn't know I was alterhuman, this nane looks like a dog name. Which I'm really happy about.

I was wondering if others do what I did. Is your irl name (it doesn't matter if it's legal name, but the one you use the most) like a name that your theriotype/s would have? Would you change it legally for a more nonhuman name?

“chris and ashley were the most innocent but they got targeted by most of josh’s revenge!” hey so no! the whole point of chris and ashley’s part of the “prank/revenge” was to get them together, josh mentions (twice i think) that ash and chris just need a little push to spark their relationship. he obviously does it to them because they played a small role in the prank and josh obviously blames the group as a collective for his sisters deaths, but the point of josh’s antics on them could’ve also been for the plot of his recording, to have the sparked romance in the height of an attack.

i’m not even kidding i could make a 5 hour long video essay on how story-butterfly affect-choice games are literally just an illusion of choice, because you can make all the wrong choices and still end up at the same spot at the end (sorry life is strange.. this is a direct attack) and when they do give you more freedom they will basically force you the whole game to do the “correct” storyline. for example detroit become human: literally if you play the violent, machine route they try to force you back onto the deviant, pacifist route. obviously i understand that there is limitations when it comes to games, especially multiple route games, but it’s so disappointing to play a choice game and have practically no choice.

Hi!! Thx for asking!

Sorry that it took me a while to respond. For some reason, this went through 2 or 3 drafts, so it took a bit for me to finalize what exactly I wanted to say. Also, I apologize that it turned out as long as it did, especially when it really didn't need to be 😅. A good 3-4 sentences, or honestly, even just a simple yes or no, probably would have sufficed.

So, before I actually answer the question, I'm assuming that by "games," you mean specifically video games. I apologize if this is an entirely incorrect interpretation. You see, when it comes to stuff like this, I am actually really stupid.

Anyway, with all that out of the way, yes! I do indeed play video games. While I'm down to play just about anything, my absolute favorite games tend to have captivating art direction (Hollow Knight/Gris), engaging worldbuilding (Elden Ring/Bloodborne), engrossing vibes/atmosphere (Demon's Souls/Breath of the Wild), and/or a compelling cast of characters (Hades/Stardew Valley/Armored Core VI).

If I can get emotionally invested in at least one of these aspects, chances are that I'm gonna fall in love with that game, despite whatever faults it may have (Dark Souls II). Additionally, while not mandatory, a great soundtrack can go a long way too (Chrono Trigger/Mario Galaxy). Adding a song to my playlist definitely helps a game stick with me for a lot longer (Guilty Gear).

It doesn't so much matter to me if a game is "fun" either. While fun games (Smash Bros/Mario Kart/co-op games in general) are fun in their own right, it's not entirely necessary in order for me to love a game. I'd be remiss not to mention this, seeing as how it has clearly and undeniably shaped what games I gravitate towards, but I 've struggled with deppresion for over 5-ish years, so having fun can be a bit challenging at times, especially in the context of a single player video game, which is most of what I play. Heck, I would say, with the exception of Hollow Knight and Mario Oddyssey, that I kinda struggle to have a genuinely good time playing any of the games in my top 10 anymore. Dont get me wrong! They have there moments of course, but it's just not the main draw.

Also, not sure if you, or anyone else for that matter, are curious, but my top 7 video games, in no particular order, are Bloodborne, Gris, Dark Souls I, Dark Souls II, Hollow Knight, Elden Ring, Armored Core VI. These are the 7 games that are a straight 10/10 to me. They're all more or less tied for first. Not sure if I could realistically pick a favorite or least favorite out of them. As you can tell, I tend to like games that are kinda depressing.

And, I think that's about it. I could definitely keep going, but I think I'll end it here. I feel like I'd be disrespecting your time if I kept going.

I've played a bunch of new games recently! My favourite was this game called Tavern Talk and I've been thinking about what my innkeeper would look like almost non-stop, I wanted to give them a dragon tail but that idea was discarded pretty quickly lol

the only thing I could comment on would be the chloe ending because it felt rushed and uncharacteristic (how they just drive off into the sunset without checking if anyone is alive)
