Ok but remember - this Viktor did not know why Jayce killed him. He thought he finally saw Jayce again, could work together with the partner he lost, only to be killed.
(In Jayce's recollection of this Viktor is smiling, and i wonder what the real one is? The difference is never explained afaik?)
After this, he turns full arcane. He tries to have a civil conversation with Jayce in the councilroom, but it's clear he is less open to Jayces side as he may have been had Jayce, well, not shot him in the chest.
Viktor just thought Jayce suddenly killed him. He thought the affection was truly gone.
This is (partly) why I think that Jayce hugged Viktor to show him what Jayce saw in the other dimension. Jayce shows Viktor "it wasnt for nothing. I never would have done this to you had my hand not been forced"
Its Viktor realising not just that the arcane is dangerous, but also that, yes, his Jayce truly is the only one that can show him this. Because Jayce loves him, and that never left. And Viktor loves Jayce too.

Caregiver!jayvik making a hextech blanket that shrinks you down all smol after they wrap you up in it
Jayce is fine to carry you without it but you're too big for Viktor.
They'll know you're little cause you wordlessly go to the closet and bring the blanket out to them with big eyes like a puppy presenting a ball to their owner. Jayce will lay it down then pick you up and swing you back and forth saying "1...2...3..." Before (gently) throwing you down. Viktor will make a comment about him riling you up when you were about to have a nap. Jayce playfully fights against you to get you wrapped up all tight before shrinking you down and rocking you in his arms. Viktor sits on his stool holding you close to his heart as he softly sings lullabies in zaunite to you
Puppy regressor!Jayce and handler!Viktor but Jayce loves being Viktor's "service dog" when he regresses
Always bringing Viktor his pills on time and reminding him to drink water and eat
Picking things up for Viktor, grabbing his cane if it's far from him
His favorite is providing deep pressure therapy
Viktor doesn't need it that often but he knows Jayce loves it so he'll ask for it more than he actually needs it
Viktor has some skin picking habits that Jayce will interrupt by putting his head over where Viktor is picking and looking up at him with big puppy dog eyes
He learns the signs viktor is about to pass out or have an episode with one of his health issues to be able to alert him
Sometimes viktor just ignores him though
*Jayce nuzzles his head into Viktor's shoulder, the alert for if Viktor's going to pass out* V: just let me finish this up quickly, *Jayce whimpers*, V: don't worry I'll-
Viktor wakes up on the couch with Jayce staring up at him from the floor with the biggest, saddest puppy dog eyes
"I'm sorry, I should have listened to you, could you get me some water"
Jayce perks up and looks over to the new bottle of water sitting on the side table
"oh look at that. You're a good boy aren't you" *Viktor runs his hand through Jayce's hair*, "I think this deserves a treat, could you grab the bag"
Jayce patiently waits as he watches Viktor carefully pull a handful of treats out and give them to him
Jayce just loves knowing he's a good boy and that he's helping Viktor
