Kirby and the Purple Butterfly Chapter 1

It was a cold and breezy afternoon in Dream Land. Winter had just begun, and the snow was already starting to fall. Kirby loves the winter, where the ground becomes as soft as the cotton candy clouds in the sky, and the stores in the Waddle Dee Village begin to sell more sweets for the holidays.

Kirby wanted to celebrate the start of the season by having a picnic with his best friends, so he gathered all of his supplies into a basket, wrapped his cute little scarf around himself, and rushed over to Castle Dedede. When arriving in the castle halls, Kirby bumped into Bandana Waddle Dee, one of Dedede’s loyal servants.

“Bandana! Do you know where Dedede is? I’m inviting the both of you and Sir Meta Knight over to a friend picnic! I want to celebrate the start of winter together with you guys!” exclaimed an excited Kirby.

“Aww, that’s really sweet, Kirby, but I don’t think his majesty is available at the moment. He’s currently in his throne room trying to think of a plan to make sure Dream Land is-”

Kirby interrupted them, not hearing the other half of what Bandana Dee was saying.

“He is in the throne room right now? Okay, I’ll just go ask him myself!” He went to the doors, too excited to reconsider.

“K-Kirby! Wait! You didn’t let me finish!” Bandana Dee pleaded.

Kirby burst through the throne room doors and was greeted by a distressed Dedede sitting at his desk almost buried in papers.

“Dedede! How are you doing today?” shouted Kirby.

“K-Kirby?! What’re you doin’ here? Don’t ’cha know I’m busy right now?!” screamed the king in return.

Kirby hopped up onto Dedede’s desk.

“But isn’t today the perfect day for a picnic? Surely you have time to hang out with lil’ ol’ me?!” she asked, with starry excitement in her eyes.

Dedede picked Kirby up and carefully placed him back down next to Bandana Waddle Dee and returned to his desk.

“Look Kirby, I’d love to play with you right now, but Dream Land can’t defend itself without me! It is my duty as king to make sure that you and all the other dreamlanders are all safe and happy, and I plan to keep that promise from now on. Please understand, and leave me alone!” exclaimed the king.

Kirby and Bandana Dee left quickly afterwards. Dedede grumbled to themselves, “I wish I knew how to read Meta Knight’s blasted handwriting…”

”Wow Kirby!” said Bandana Dee. “That’s the nicest his majesty has treated anyone today. He must really like you a lot!” they teased.

“Yeah!” replied a nervous Kirby. ‘Dedede must be really busy this time. He doesn’t normally act like that!’ he thought to himself before asking Bandana another question. “Where’s Meta Knight? I’d still like to invite both him and you!”

“He should still be at the Halberd nearby!” replied the Waddle Dee. “I can take you there right now!” 

Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee then headed over to Meta Knight’s airship, ‘The Halberd’, which was parked outside the Castle near the hangar. When he was inside, he saw Meta Knight and his crew training with a couple of village residents.

“Oh Meta Knight!” exclaimed Kirby.

This startled the knight and nearly made him fall over. Luckily, he still had a sword to support himself.

“Kirby!” Meta Knight exclaimed. “You cannot just go around surprising people like that, I could’ve gotten hurt! Just please be patient and wait for me until I can speak with you.” the knight explained. Kirby apologized and patiently waited for Meta, while Bandana Waddle Dee silently watched through the window.

After a couple of minutes, Meta was ready to speak with Kirby.

“What was it that you needed me for now?” he asked.

Kirby then took a small handful of confetti from the basket and threw it up into the air.

“I wanted to invite you for a picnic to start off the winter! Dedede said he was busy, but surely you can still come, right?” Kirby asked.

The knight shook his head.

“My apologies, Kirby, but I promised a few of the villagers that I would teach them how to sword fight today, and their training has yet to be completed, so I’m afraid I cannot come, ‘tis rather unfortunate.” he said while discreetly eyeing a bar of chocolate he saw slightly sticking out of Kirby’s basket.

“Oh, ok.” Kirby nodded silently and left the scene.

On his way out, Kirby looked to Bandana Waddle Dee. “Well, surely you can still come, right Bandana?” he asked with hope still in his eyes.

The Waddle Dee unfortunately shook their head.

“I’m sorry Kirby, I still have my own business to attend to! Apple juice won’t make itself! I hope you enjoy your picnic though!” they quickly explained before heading off.

‘Even Bandana Waddle Dee is busy today! What is happening?’

Kirby looked all over Pop Star and even beyond, but no matter where he went, all his friends were busy with their own important duties. At that point, all the food in Kirby’s basket became too cold, so in defeat, Kirby returned to Planet Pop Star, feeling empty-handed.

By the time Kirby had returned to Dream Land, it was nighttime, and the cold winter winds were at their strongest. Whilst trekking through the heavy snow, Kirby spotted something in the distance. Over a field of flowers, that Kirby had never seen before, opened an inter-dimensional rift shaped like a four-pointed star, differing from the usual five-pointed ones. Out from it came another one of Kirby’s species. They were similar to Kirby in shape and size, though only slightly smaller, with their only distinctive features being their lavender hue and their small turquoise horns. Before the rift closed, a luminescent butterfly came from it and landed on the starborn’s face shortly after. Kirby cautiously approached the newcomer and lightly tapped them, but there was no response to be found, they were unconscious.

‘Poor thing!’ Kirby thought to themselves. ‘If they were out here any longer, they could freeze!’

Not wishing that upon them, Kirby quickly grabbed the picnic blanket from his basket and wrapped it around the other astral, scooping them up and bringing them inside of his house. He carefully put them on his soft couch and wrapped them in a fluffier and cozier blanket, lighting the fireplace to make sure they were as warm as possible. Kirby then thought of other ways to make sure their new houseguest could be kept nice and warm, and decided to start making some hot chocolate in the kitchen.

A few hours had passed by since Kirby had taken in his new guest, who slept pretty soundly while Kirby was making their cocoa. When Kirby started putting the finishing touches, his new guest quickly woke up in a cold sweat, which startled Kirby a little.

“Oh, you’re finally awake! You looked cold, so I made hot chocolate! This’ll help warm you up for sure!” said Kirby, while grabbing the tray with two mugs of cocoa on it.

The guest looked around the room in a panic, frantically asking questions.

“W-Who are you? Where am I?” they asked in a panic.

Kirby did her best to calm them down.

“Woah woah woah! Let’s calm down here. I’ll start off simple. I’m Kirby and you’re in my house! I found you outside in the cold and took you in so you wouldn’t freeze!” she explained. “Now enough about me, who are you?” she then asked.

The other starborn paused, struggling to form an answer before mumbling “I don’t know…”.

Kirby was shocked by this. “You don’t remember who you are? Not even your name?! That’s horrible!” they exclaimed, to which the other starborn simply shook their head.

Kirby took a moment to think about what she could do to help.

‘I can’t possibly imagine how that must feel, not knowing who you are’ he thought to himself, before an idea popped into his head.

“Well, I’ll just give you a name then! How does that sound?” he proudly stated.

“That could work,” nodded the other starborn.

“Let’s try something simple then! You look like me, and you came out of an interdimensional rift, so how does ‘Rifty’ sound?” they explained.

It took the other starborn a second to think it over, before smiling softly.

“Rifty…I’d like that!” they said cheerily.

Kirby was very happy to know that their choice was appreciated.

“Yay! I knew you’d like it!” She said with joy as they handed Rifty a mug of cocoa.

“Welcome to Dream Land, Rifty”

The Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Dream Land

All slept, except Artemis, who worked on a plan

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that Santa Claus soon would be there;

The dreamlanders were nestled all snug in their beds;

While visions of gifts and sweets danced in their heads;

Kirby & Rifty were dreaming of treats,

and Meta Knight wished for new slippers to warm up his feet;

Bandana Dee would love apple juice, made sweet and cold,

While Dedede could use a new hammer, to replace the old;

Sir Artemis swore he’d bring his plan into fruition-

Spreading happiness and cheer across Pop Star was his mission!

Away from the Halberd he flew in a flash,

blazing off into the night with a dash;

The moon in the breast of the new-fallen snow,

Gave a lustre of midday to objects below;

Across the land, he soared through the skies,

With his magic sack of gifts, and a gleam in their eyes;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, he looked like a peddler just opening their pack;

His eyes- how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his face like a cherry!

In just one little gaze, they seemed to wink,

And presents would suddenly appear before one could blink;

A wink of his eyes and a twist of his head,

He was here to let Dream Land know there was nothing to dread!

When night had come to an end, and his bag left emptied,

Sir Artemis returned home knowing his good deed had been well attempted;

He returned to his bed with sleepy, tired eyes,

Waiting for the joy of Pop Star to light up the sunset skies;

When Christmas morning had come, the dreamlanders were filled with glee,

For everything they had ever wanted was sitting right underneath the tree!

Rifty was delighted and Kirby had cheered,

While Meta Knight and the king were wondering when the presents had appeared;

Artemis smiled and with a twinkle in his sight,

he happily proclaimed

“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night”

🦋 Kirby OC Reference Sheets/Bios

I’ve been busy with school for a little but, but now I’m ready to jump back into the fray and start sharing my OC concept with all of you finally! It’s time to get to know our beloved cast!

Rifty: A kind-hearted, benevolent astral starborn like Kirby. However, unlike Kirby, who spreads unconditional love to everyone no matter what, Rifty is a lot more considerate of other people’s emotions. He wants to get to know people instead of just being a friend. This also causes Rifty to be quite observant. He takes note of the environment around them and tries their best to accommodate that. Quantum Knight (Sir Artemis): One of the noblest warriors in the known multiverses, Quantum Knight is to Rifty like Meta Knight is to Kirby. Artemis is a mentor figure, someone for Rifty to lean on in their time of need, someone who is willing to protect his friend at all costs and guide them in their journey. Underneath their confident and serious attitude , Sir Artemis is a very loving and compassionate puffball who drives themselves to give Rifty the happiest life he can in Pop Star. He’s perhaps one of the biggest softies you could ever meet once you get to know them! (Additional Lore/Info: Introductory Post)

Lady Lunala: A kind, yet calculated astral sword trainer and stargazer. Lunala is a mother figure to Rifty & a mentor figure to Artemis as she helps the two of them adapt to life on Pop Star. She’s very sweet, considerate, and supportive of the two of her friends, and can be quite whimsical. Though none, except for Artemis, are aware of her nightly duties as the fearsome vigilante: Lunaris Knight!

Lunaris Knight: A vigilante that tears through the night skies, Lunaris is the knight that patrols Planet Pop Star only when the moon is high. She can be very serious when she feels as if something threatens Dream Land and will do whatever it takes to protect her planet and the stars that surround it. Don’t test her, or you might start seeing stars!

Mistress Moonlight: A sophisticated and high class astral that only seems to appear during formal celebrations and parties. She can be a little shy to talk to others as she hides herself behind her mask and fan. No one quite knows who she is or where’s she from. (Who would’ve thought such an innocent starborn such as Lunala could lead such a busy life?)

Dizzy: My silly little Kirbysona! Dizzy is a silly little goober who drifted into Pop Star’s Galaxy after disappearing from Halcandra for unknown reasons. They now reside in a nice little cardboard box somewhere in Floralia that acts a portal to a pocket dimension where they live with their friends! Unlike Magolor, Dizzy is a very innocent little space kitty trying to share their special little stories with the world. Would you like to listen to them?

A short introductory comic about the events of Rifty’s arrival in Dream Land! (I’d like to thank @ommetaphobian for helping me with the snow on the cover image, this artwork wouldn’t be the same without their help!)

However, unlike Kirby, Rifty is more shy and introverted, though they still enjoy the close company of their friends. Backstory & Lore: Riding in from a winter breeze, Rifty arrived in Dream Land from a mysterious inter-dimensional rift. They have no memory of who they were before, the only thing they remember is waking in Kirby’s house after Kirby took them in from the storm. Rifty has been living in Dream Land for a couple of months now, doing their best to settle into their new peaceful life, all while still being haunted by the past they can’t quite grasp. It's May 10th, the one year anniversary of the effective "start" of the 2024 Kirby OC Tournament, an event which turned out to be shockingly important to me on a very real level.

Ok, so what if King Olly​ from Paper Mario The Origami​ King​ got a redemption arc? Here's my version of it, along with a story-important crossover with the Kirby series, because yes.

After the events of pmtok,​ Olly ends up in Another Dimension (Specifically the part of it where Magolor found himself in during Magolor Epilogue)​,​ with his magic capacity sliced in​ half, most​ of​ his abilities are also gone​ with the​ ones​ left​ not​ being very effective on enemies, and this place definitely isn't where Olly would want to be right now, since it's crawling with Sphere Doomers, Parallel​ Versions​ of Folded Soldiers and The Legion of Stationery​ (the Parallels are total opposites of their normal counterparts, and most of them are hostile towards Olly, except for Parallel Tape and Parallel Stapler.),​ so he has​ to​ restore​ his​ abilities​ by​ helping​ the​ friendlier individuals residing there, and for the final fight is against a shape-shifting abomination of many other people that he had helped along the way, just to mock and unnerve him, after half of the battle, it gives up, assimilating all of the nearby enemies into a giant abomination of all kinds of creatures folded or not, and when it's at the brink of desperation, it spits out all of the creatures it assimilated, and turns into a swirling mass of darkness, with abilities that are corrupted versions of Olly's own abilities, along with shields Olly must use specific attacks to break, once all the shields are broken and the core is vulnerable, Olly takes notice of the pattern on the floor and realizes it's a magic circle, so he activates it, which he refolds into a giant flash canon, which destroys the core in one fell swoop, Afterwards the shape-shifter bursts into lots of confetti, and a portal opens up, along with an orange butterfly seen flying into it, which Olly reflects his journey one last time, wipes a few tears, and goes into the portal. After getting into the portal, Olly ends up in Dreamland (Somehow, maybe it has to with that orange butterfly.) and meets Dalmo (My​ Kirby​ oc who ​is directly involved in the events of pmtok, since she helped Mario and Olivia out.), he spends some time in Dreamland until they can get another portal working to get Olly back home, after said portal is successfully working Olly decides to go back home, with Dalmo coming in with him, just in case he needs some help. After apologizing to everyone involved, and reuniting with Olivia and the Origami Craftsman, Olly and Olivia now live in a small cabin near the forest, it's not as big as it was but it's still their home after all, and the Origami Craftsman also visits the siblings fairly often And, how did Olly end up in Dreamland? Well, two factors, the portal and Morpho Knight (they're involved in this along with Queen Jaydes)​,​ giving Olly a chance to improve was Morpho's idea in the first place, and Jaydes helped out a little with other stuff.

Lore:

Honey Toast Dee used to be just a regular mouse cursor inside of a regular laptop when a portal opened up inside said laptop, sucking in all kinds of things, fortunately nothing was sucked in except for said mouse cursor, which after drifting inside of that portal for who knows how long, she gained sentience, a pair of eyes, and the dripping honey and vanilla ice cream grabbed from some random stuff she found in that portal.

Shortly after gaining sentience, the portal lead her to Dreamland, and got a super effective critical hit to wherever the head of a mouse cursor is and is now a Waddle Dee with light amnesia.

How is she found? Well, the group (Made up of Periwinkle, Ginger, Moss, Niru, Dalmo, Artist, Magician and Jester Dee, Kamoro, Mari, Wave 3+Marx, Gooey, Dark Matter Swordsman[Aka. Kuro for my AU all ocs exist in the aforementioned AU], and the DL4.) are having a picnic, and when it was time for Marko Polo, Mari ended up finding a critically injured Honey Toast Dee in a nearby bush, and off to the hospital she went.

Honey Toast Dee was in the hospital for weeks as she was knocked out, and when she finally woke up, she tried to make something to eat, only to fail miserably, afterwards Bandee, Periwinkle, Moss, Niru, Artist Dee, Magician Dee and Jester Dee came for a visit and boy did they not expect to see what she did.

Since she technically has honey as an accessory, and you know it spills all over the place, when the gang went to visit her, they literally saw honey spilled all over the place.

And after a few weeks, Honey Toast Dee finally came out of the hospital.

Fun facts:

She's overall very friendly, but when she's scared (Very hard to scare her.) , under attack, or extremely pissed off, she will in fact whack people with a frying pan.

To prevent people from ever trying to make a snack out of her hat, she spiked it with wormwood

She sometimes works at the Dreamland Express as a staff member there.

Her hobbies include drawing, reading, cooking (She carries around a frying pan to try and cook something outside, but it ended up being more like a trusty weapon for her, talk about weaponizing kitchen utensils.)

She is technically in the same category as Starstruck Dee (@starflungwaddledee)

Her name is a pun on my Anon nickname, Honey Toast Anon, while her true form is a pun on my username, looks like the figurative is now literal.

Recent doodles (oc edition)

Another oc I made, this time it’s an expansion of a canon character and some what au-ish, introducing Niru!

Niru’s lore: After everything happened, and getting stuck in whitespace for quite some time the guardian of Whitespace : Twinkle Popopo finds Zero longing for happiness, so gives him a chance to do so, giving him a new form similar to Kirby's species (Astral Puffballs) and Zero ends up on Popstar, crash landing in Whispy​ Woods, later found by Dalmo and Dark​ Matter​Swordsman​ (Nicknamed Kuro​ in this AU and he had positive character growth too.)​.

Also, Niru​ is currently trying to learn about stuff they never had the chance to, despite being considered an adult of their species, they're still child-like in a way, since they're learning about things and boy are they curious about almost everything they don't know about, their blank stare can accidentally unnerve someone too, so basically Niru is a blank slate at the moment with some leftover abilities and memories from their past as Zero/Zero2.

They're also quite expressive, since they would usually copy other's expressions to use at times, though after a bit of mimicking and adding a bit of their own personality in there, the results are quite nice.

They're quite a quick learner too, and mimics many aspects of many people who they hang out with a lot (ei. Dalmo's politeness and kindness, Ginger's forgiveness, Periwinkle's empathy and compassion, and many more traits, both positive and negative.) .

Personality: Niru later on develops their own personality, which is curious, chill and somewhat similar to Ginger, but can be childlike at times.

Fun facts:

Niru is the one of the few ocs by me who uses They/Them pronouns

They love playing in rain puddles whenever they get the chance.

Prone to nightmares despite the Fountain of Dreams being a thing.

Likes music boxes due to it being soothing in their opinion.

Hobbies include: Drawing, reading, playing outside and looking at the stars.

Their sensitive spot is their head, DO NOT HIT IT!

TW Trauma, Mass Murder

Ginger is very adept with the Ninja and Parasol copy abilities,​ since she's been trained to use it at a young age, she's technically about 10 years old in human years, and boy does she suffer from a lot of trauma. What trauma? Family Massacre, she's the last remaining member of her family, she also is very clingy thanks to this and doesn't want to lose another important person in her life, since she has lost her entire family, despite this she still has a Happy-go-lucky attitude, and is very loyal to her friends, and trusting to a fault, though to people she hates with her entire guts, well… Once she finds them, they're sashimi for sure, though she's quite forgiving, which means there aren't a lot of people she hates with her entire guts.

Here’s a new oc​ I've made inspired by (and losely based on) Fern from Adventure Time, Moss!

She’s actually the corrupted grass spirit of Ginger’s home possessing her sister, Rachel’s dead body (Moss is a corrupted grass imbued Dark Matter from an experiment gone wrong on the night of the tragedy that left Ginger as the last survivor.)

Eats fertilizer.

Fun facts:

Loves gardening outdoors.

Can spawn in any plants or fungi on a whim, can use it for offense, defense or anything else.

Has a grass katana that’s as sharp as the real deal.

Knows how to talk to wildlife, comes in handy pretty often.

Can go back and forth between her disguise and her partially revealed true form, prefers her disguise more, since it’s more approachable and less unnerving.

Ginger​ and Moss's dynamic is based on Finn and Fern's dynamic, minus the *cough cough* the Elements mini-series not even happening, and the Green Knight thing being replaced by Moss making a shady deal before the attempted murder, then suffering the consequences by getting sent to Another Dimension instead. *cough cough cough cough-* don't worry, both of them come around eventually.

Also, all that's left of Moss after Ginger's confrontation with her is her iconic sun hat (Y'know, the one with green ribbons and leaves, along with purple flowers, it later gets changed to lavender blue which is the same shade as nemophilas, which Ginger gave Moss, since the purple flowers shriveled up.), and while in Another Dimension, she doesn't have her sun hat, since it's with Ginger, so all she has is her teal bandana which is used to keep the grass on her out of her sun hat and to keep it clean, along with losing her abilities, revealing her true form as Dark Matter, so she has to escape the place to apologize to Ginger (She does in fact regret the murder attempt, since she was blinded by jealousy fuelled rage.).

The other flower on Moss's hat that's on a strand of sorts? That's actually a part of her, and is always going to be with her, even without the sun hat.
