Adjustable Wood Lamp âGoldbergâ
The adjustable 'Goldbergâ lamp by Atelier Akerboom is a handmade wooden lamp. By adjusting the 31 openings of the lamp you can control how much light it gives out in any direction. The lamp can be used as a hanging (pendant) lamp or as table or floor lamp. The lamp is available in different colors (see information sheet) and in two sizes (30cm or 50cm diameter).
This special design is named after Michael Goldberg (1902-1990) who described the Goldberg polyhedron â a convex polyhedron made from hexagons and pentagons â first in 1937.

Making Light With Electricity
According to WHO, indoor air pollution and related diseases kill more than 3 million people a year in developing nations. Much of this is due to open cooking fires, but a significant portion is caused by the of burning fuels in order to make light.Â
As much as we take it for granted, lots of people on this planet donât have access to consistent electricity. Just think about that for a second. It might be more than a century old, that electric lighting in your house, but youâre very lucky to have it.
Children exposed to the smoke from burning fuels might as well be smoking 2 packs of cigarettes per day, in terms of the chemicals and smoke theyâre exposed to. Itâs a serious health concern. This is why I was doubly amazed by this video from Smarter Every Day (@smartereveryday).
A company called Gravitylight has invented a lamp that runs on gravity! Through an ingenious application of old science to a new problem, theyâve been able to harness a truly renewable power source to make peopleâs lives better.Â
Hey Gravitylight, hereâs my message for you:

r u capable of surrendering to the fact that there is darkness and there is light and you are in between both, choosing, each day anew?
In the darkest light
Of morning
I see the outline of your face
An illusion
That I trace
With cold fingers
Which long to be warmed
By you
I tried to catch the cosmos
In a little jar
But found it far too quick
For me
To reach any of the stars
The rising storm
And the tumultuous sea
Of gray and green
Cannot be mightier
Than our love
And the sun
I watched the stars
Then i consumed their light
One by one
A darkened sky
Then little by little
Their light consumed me
In return.
I often ponder
As to whether the stars
Tire of burning
Too?
