Irosami Week Day 6: Misunderstanding
A flash of blue caught the corner of his eye, and the air around his ears sang with electricity. Turning just in time, the General lashed out his arm and in one sweeping motion, slammed the equalist to the ground, preparing his fist for burst of fire. The woman’s hands clutched at his arm and Iroh was startled to find that it was the beautiful Ms. Sato he had driven to the ground, not an enemy as he’d originally thought. A quick look at the behind him revealed his mistake: an unconscious equalist lay not a foot behind him., most likely the handiwork of the young woman at his mercy. Her lips moved as if to speak, faintly. No words came. He’d knocked the wind right out of her.
sorry that was kind of lame haha. This took way longer than I originally planned, and I got lazy at the end D:
I hope you guys enjoy it anyway!
sooo asamiroh is the first LoK ship to have given me legitimate feels.

I am Italian and I was sixteen when korrasami became canon. I remember crying, being so happy to finally see a wlw ship in a cartoon. I will always defend them, they were the first ray of hope for little me.
In all seriousness though---
Korra got a ton---and I mean a TON---of hate, for daring to be a headstrong, non-genderconforming woman of color. So forgive me if I don't react well to "korrasami doesn't deserve it"
Korra already fought through enough misogyny and racism while it was actively airing. She already got enough criticism for not being the "target audience" of 8-12 age males who buy action figures. She already got enough criticism for having flaws as a woman, for not "acting ladylike". She already got enough criticism for not being white or white passing in a show that has ZERO white characters. So when you come at korrasami fans with "they don't deserve it"? Don't be surprised when korrasami fans look at it with a lens of suspicion, because korrasami already fought through the criticism, already fought through being stuck in the "dead slot" air time in nickelodeon (which they were moved to in season three, when the show runners actively started hinting at a wlw ship), already fought through being pulled off air and onto online viewing only, in 2014, for those of you who are a bit young. (Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court case which legalized gay marriage nationwide in the US, happen on June 26, 2016). "They only held hands in the finale" because that's all they could get away with at the time. They were the FIRST. Bubbeline came later. Rupphire came later. Catradora came later. There are still no notable mlm ships in children's media, so the work ISN'T done. Korrasami fans "screech and yell" at you for not understanding because you accuse them of "queerbaiting" without understanding that they were the FIRST in their time to OPENLY hint at being gay on a a children's television network. In a time, for most intents and purposes in the US, being gay was still ILLEGAL.
And by the way? The Owl House, a recent, animatec children's show on Disney, was recently canceled for not being "the Disney brand". It features a bisexual woman of color (in an EXPLICITLY wlw relationship) as the main character, not unsimilar to Korra. Misogyny is not dead. Homophobia is not dead. Know your history, and know the work isn't done.
With the new Avatar content coming out, the presentation for the LOK content feels very hollow since it's only focusing on Korra and Asami. Like the cover for Paterns in Time only feature the two of them, despite saying that the anthology is going to have everyone. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be the whole Krew to be there.
This feels especially prevalent with the Avatar Legnds game. With the Last Airbender, all of the gaang, (Katara, Sokka, Suki, Toph, Zuko) gets to be NPC's . But for LOK it's only Asami and Tenzin. That's kinda feels like a slap in the face that Mako and Bolin wasn't included, heck Lin could've been a NPC. Also with art cards that came out it's only Korra and Asami.
I honestly feel is Korrasami wasn't teased in Book 3 and 4, Asami would probably fade in the background and wouldn't be exculvisley included for future LOK projects.
Sorry for subjecting you to this rant, but I kinda hate how unbalance it is for LOK compared to ATLA.
Quite honestly I'm pretty sure all of us know that any future Avatar Projects will be about Korrasami and maybe poking fun at Mako and Tenzin's relationships. What I'm annoyed about is that they told us that all of the major characters would be included when it was about Korra and Asami only.
As for the AtLA part I'm mildly sure that the fandom only stan Zuko and by extension Zukka and Zutara. Anyone else isn't represented that well.
I agree on the Asami part, but to be honest I didn't see any part where Korra and Asami was teased apart from that letter. Which could genuinely be platonic, and I thought they were making efforts to show us that Korra and Asami were friends. You know, after the whole Mako fiasco.
TLDR: We really shouldn't expect anything from Avatar Studios and future Avatar Projects if we're not fans of Korrasami.
There’s Korra. She’s the (waterbender?) Avatar. She likes to fight things and has overwhelming hubris. She can bend every element except one and I forgot which one it is. Also she’s bisexual.
There’s a lot more kinds of bending
It’s been like 70 years since ATLA, Toph is a cop, Sokka isn’t that important, Katara is a healer, Aang is dead, Zuko is still firelord. Appa is dead. Yue is still the moon. Nobody knows what happened to Suki. Mai married Zuko and had a daughter (Izumi?). Azula is either still in the mental hospital or dead. Ty Lee? Ozai got put in jail for the rest of his life.
The cabbage merchant is important somehow. He’s got a statue
Toph quit being a cop and lives in the foggy swamp now
There are the Air Acolytes (?) idk how this works but I don’t like their outfits and there are somehow more sky bison (?) again idk
Idk who the other characters are lmao
I know there’s Asami bc she ends up with Korra in the end, uh I think there’s also Mako, Kuviera, Tarrloq (Tarrlok? I have no idea who this is), Suyin, a lot more Beifongs, Jinora, Bumi, Iroh the second, Kya, Tenzin, Amok (Amon? I think it starts with an A), Unalaq (?), more people like Sparky Boom Boom Man, a bunch of kids, one of the villains is scary and wears a mask (I want to say this is Amok/Amon/whatever his name is, but I really don’t know), Bolin
Mako is a fire bender, Bolin is an earth bender, Korra is the avatar, Asami is rich, together they are the new team avatar, I think
Korra loses her Avatar powers but Aang gives them back, then she loses the Avatar State and restarts the cycle or something.
I literally have no idea what the main plot is
Korra gets ptsd and a sick new haircut, idk if these are connected. She also no longer has overwhelming hubris.
Mako dates Asami. Then he dates Korra. Then Asami and Korra date each other.
Korra connects the spirit world to the human world at some point
LoK has a lot less chill than ATLA and we can actually see onscreen murder
Republic city is a place and that’s all I know about it. Actually isn’t the cabbage man statue there?
Each villain represents a different kind of government/political ideology/whatever. Can’t remember what they are.
The white lotus is there but they’re lame now. I think it’s the lack of Iroh.
Uh glowing women
*buff glowing women
That’s all
This is actually so important

Daughters Of Lightning
Yes I know they never met or interacted in canon but these two are character foils and you can’t convince me otherwise.
I know Amon is one of the bad guys and not olny that, but a bad guy with no fans (like Loki, he has so many fans), but Imma be honest with you - Noatak is hot
I'm korrasami 4ever but thry're not lesbians. Neither korra nor asami, they're bisexual. They both had a thing for mako and thus they also like men. Let's acknowledge the bisexual characters guys.
