It's not only the name but also is the a incredible badass and a young women. She could have been introduced to Ozpin through Ironwood and they made her a maiden. Or she knew the former maiden, whatever you know what I mean...
BUT right now I had the thought...
Weiß thought her sister was in Haven right? And of course she wasn't because all troupes got called back to atlas. What if that wasn't the only reason she was ordered back?
What if it was because they want to keep the winter maiden safe and concluded that couldn't be done in haven?
