When she looked at him a part of her missed him, they hadn't properly spoken to each other in years. When she saw him at an event she tried avoiding him as much as she could. Perhaps it was a cowardice move, but she did not want him to know that what she felt towards him wasn't indifference. After so many years, that is what it should be, she knew that, but he wouldn't let her forget him with the continuous gifts. At least that is what she blamed it on. Although his transgression happened many years ago. It wasn't just her ego that had been hurt it had been her heart too. That had been something she never fully got over. Why was he saying all of these things, openly admitting to wanting to see her again? Telling her it was good she was back.. it had been much easier when they hadn't talked and all their communication was the notes he sometimes left alongside his gifts. ""Thanks. "She sighed, rolling her eyes. Hopefully that was it for accidental run ins, but London was quite small she supposed. "You would."

When She Looked At Him A Part Of Her Missed Him, They Hadn't Properly Spoken To Each Other In Years.

There was once a time he knew everything about Serra. Not only what she liked or didn't, but she wanted in life, and for a few brief and good moments, he was one of those things. Maybe through the act of sending her so many gifts, she would want him again. So far, it hadn't worked in his favor, but he had no mind to buy more. Perhaps eventually, she would have an entire collection of his gifts, enough to fit into a closet. And Malcolm? He would ask for nothing in return. Malcolm's face twisted uneasily, not thinking her words would have much effect on him, but now he was taking it personally to his core. "Emerald," he echoed, the request tasting easy in his mouth. "I can do that. And if I don't see you until then...welcome back to London. I am glad you are back. And I wouldn't mind accidentally running into you again."

"Somewhere where you won't be." She replied as if it was obvious, a sugary sweet smile playing on her lips. "You don't need another address. You can address it to my parents house and the houseleves will get it to me." She did still live there after all, but if he came by and her parents got wind of it they would get the wrong idea. He already ordered the present after all, it would be a shame for a perfectly good pair of shoes to go to waste. And she did like the dress, there was no harm in accepting the presents, it didn't change anything. "I am having a party. Invites have already been sent out. I just don't want you there, so if my parents happened to have sent you one, ignore it. If you want to send me a gift, I need new earrings. Emerald."

"Somewhere Where You Won't Be." She Replied As If It Was Obvious, A Sugary Sweet Smile Playing On Her

Malcolm knew he was playing with fire. Serra was absolutely right. She should turn down his advances as he had thought to buy back her forgiveness rather than have a painful and honest conversation. That didn't seem like him and he needed to ask Agatha about that. Yet, her words, though expected, dug into him and left a mark. "And where will you be? I should need a new address if I am to send you Italian shoes to go with the dress from the other month," Malcolm grinned. "Well, it is a special birthday so I should hope you are having a party in some capacity. Please, if I don't get an invite at least tell me what gift I can send in my absence."

While she enjoyed being showered in gifts, she was known to be proud and hold a grudge. He hadn't just hurt her feelings, he'd hurt her reputation. Nowdays, not many people knew what happened between them in Hogwarts, too many years had passed, but this wasn't something she could forgive and forget. Being in his office? Presumably alone with him? Yeah that wasn't happening. Serra chuckled humorlessly, shaking her head. "No thanks. There are very few places I'd like to be in less." How did he have the nerve to try flirting with her now? She was glad she didn't share a last name with her cousins, at least there was that. "I won't be home." Not for him anyways. It wasn't lost on her that he hadn't told her when he planned on stopping by. "It is. Don't hold your breath for a party invite."

While She Enjoyed Being Showered In Gifts, She Was Known To Be Proud And Hold A Grudge. He Hadn't Just

Malcolm knew that she was at least enjoying her gifts that he sent over the years because he never received anything like a cease and desist. Even if she had sent one, he probably would have ignored it. It was one of his favorite pastimes, and it made him smile, wondering if she would be wearing it and what she would think. The imagination wasn't so much of a bane of his existence, quite the opposite, as she was wearing one of the said presents now. Malcolm tried to let his face remain stoic so not to seem too proud. There had been times he wondered what he would say to her again, but none of those ideas seemed inspiring now. "I agree. Perhaps you would like to come by my office and test that theory," he said openly, his lips twisting into a familiar grin. Even with years separating them, he managed to slip back into their camaraderie as if nothing had changed. Except, everything had. Two different people were standing there than the ones they left behind. "I'm sure they're working out how to get the stain out," he said both in the literal sense and not. "I was hoping to call on you at your home after your trip. It's your birthday soon is it not?"

Knowing how to handle herself in a public setting was something she had been taught at a young age, never losing her cool and keeping a mask of passive indifference even if her enotions were going haywire. She hadn't expected to run into Malcolm, they'd successfully managed to avoid each other for years and now here was right in front of her, thinking he could talk to her like nothing happened. How dare he? Sure the presents were nice and she was currently wearing a bracelet he'd sent to her a couple of months ago, but that didn't mean she'd forgiven him, it was not the jewellery's fault that he was a cheater. "I look good everywhere." She dismissed his compliment. "No one liked her anyways, so they're all over it by now." Serra crossed her arms, having to look up to keep eye contact, but not wavering. "What do you want?"

Knowing How To Handle Herself In A Public Setting Was Something She Had Been Taught At A Young Age, Never

At first, Malcolm thought that he saw a ghost and when he realized it was really Serra, he opted for a ghost instead. It had been years since he saw her, doing his best to keep his distance and not cross paths. It was a moment of relief when he was told that she went to Paris. Malcolm would have done the same thing if he had a family member who dismantled the family name. He was glad to not have any siblings any only a few well-behaved cousins. Malcolm also thought that the Loire Valley would've been his choice if he were fleeing from domestic disputes. But it was because of Serra being in Paris that he was forced to readdress the first gift there and after that, he sent messages to French boutiques to send her locally designed jewelry and clothes. "Well, you look much better in London than in Paris," he commented, not shying from offering a compliment. It was only an innate reaction. "You're still saying her name? I can't help but feel sorry for the rest of the family. I hope they're well."
