me when the non-human character wants to be human:
Yandere!Mark Grayson x Superpowered!Reader
A/N : The reader in this has a teleportation power, not interdimensional teleportation but like regular teleportation, and they can phase through walls, obviously in this dimension Mark joined his dad and he doesn't want to kill you either
Hiding with Robot and Adam Eve's group wasn't ideal. Resources were scarce. People scared and paranoid whether they got to live another day or not; but going back and forth from one part of the planet to another wasn't sustainable either, especially since with how fast the both of them can travel; it'd only be a few minutes of resting time before you had to teleport again. So, after narrowly escaping Nolan's death grip in Honduras, you made the decision to move back up north even to settle down in the sewers to have more than thirty minutes to cool down.
But you had spotted one of the freedom fighters and followed him back to the underground base, he was clumsy and loud. It wouldn't be long until they found this place. Finding Adam and Robot telling them was the best you could do for them; they were surprised to say the least. After all a hand straight through your chest should've killed you; but with the combination of teleporting and phasing an escape was granted to you. However, not without a cost, your heart was weak, Nolan had grazed the front of your heart and thinned the muscle there. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, just pop on down to Cecil and he'd have you fixed up in no time. So, your life was on a schedule, it was a rough estimate…maybe a year? Two if you were able to properly rest without the teleporting at all.
Adam convinced you to say, sweetly said it was to treat your injuries, but Robot had made it clear it was for you to help out gathering resources and getting as many people as possible out of here in case this place was found. No matter, it was nice of them to give you a place to recover after Robot had fixed up your heart. The scar was a thin long line, from the top of your throat to the underside of your belly button. It was overkill you were sure of it, but even after waking up after the pain of being ripped open, you still were in better health, than teleporting in fear of being caught and killed.
You were inside of a subway car, practicing teleporting instantly from one side of the room to the other side, it was going to take a couple of days of practicing to build up to longer distances again. It was nicer not having a time frame of when you were going to die, or having hope for the future that wasn't under the Viltrum Empire.
It was short lived however..
There was rumbling coming from the roof of the underground train station, at first it was dismissible-just buildings crumbling to the ground, but after the screaming started to pick up and then people rushing by the car it was obvious. They had found this place, and they were going to kill everyone in this place.
Rushing out of the car, you saw that they had split themselves up, Nolan was fighting Robot and Adam Eve was fighting Mark. Omni Man had made quick work of Robot and the other people who were unlucky enough to behind him after he was rushed. Teleporting to Robot after Omni Man had delivered his last words to Robot, you had told him that you would 'take care of it and not to worry'. His voice was rasped and hard to make out with the screaming, but the message was delivered a simple Don't fail.
Looking around for the both of them wasn't hard, just follow the fear induced screams was more than enough to be pointed in the right direction.
Mark had his hand around Eve's neck, they were talking to each other. Her hands are on his wrist... and then a snap...he broke her neck. Omni man is up there now he's saying something, Mark is shaking his head not as he puts Eves' body down. They're still talking to each other.
Both of their heads snap in your direction, FUCK they saw you! Before you can think of a place to teleport to Nolan rushes you bursting the people in-between you both like bloody pimples. He lifts you in the air by your neck. Mark slowly floats his way down to you and his father.
"I wasn't expecting you to be here" Nolan grimaces slightly "especially with how keen you were to get away from the city."
His voice was monotone and short. It was hard to see where this conversation would go. You try and keep yourself levelheaded knowing that one wrong move will get you killed or captured by the of them.
"I can't stay away from home for to long."
A nervous smile came across your cracked lips, hurting but not bleeding. The grip Omni Man had on your throat was tight, keeping you suspended in the air by your throat was starting to expose the scar. A flush of air meant that Invincible had come up to interrogate you with Omni Man.
Marks soft voice rang through the silence of his and his fathers animalistic brutality just minutes ago.
"Why are you here?"
His tone had remained soft and understanding like he was talking to a child; it made would always make you wonder if Mark was choosing to do these horrible things, or he was going along with his father trying save thousands from his father.
Nolans eyes started to wonder down the slightly red line and a deep frown began to set on his mustache.
"Ah, Mark, that's a really st-"
Nolans grip had tightened suddenly as he dropped lower to the ground making sure your feet could barely scrape the rubble ridden concrete. A stern look strikes his face as he turns to Mark. A short look is shared between them before turning back to you, their eyes drift down your face and towards your pulsing scar. Nolan's thumb presses in deep enough to make Mark suck in air harshly and Nolan giving a somewhat disappointed grumble from some deep crevasse of feeling that you quite aren't sure is there.
A soft sigh came from Mark as a frown sets deep on his skin.
"What happened to you? What's with the scar? Is because of what happened in Honduras? You know if you'd just stayed still nothing would've happened. You pushed dad's buttons..., I'm not saying you deserved that, but still."
A shrug passed through him, he moved closer, Nolan's grip was starting to get harsher. Mark puts his hand on top of your head, he doesn't take heed of it. He begins to it upward slowly as you struggled to look up, a chuckle came from Nolan.
"He won't kill you, just make sure you won't be able to see straight. I've seen him practice works well enough."
You weren't able to at least get a sarcastic rebuttal out before his hand came down on, your head. It was an odd experience a slight pain, a sharp realization of being able to see in opposite directions, burning in of bile, and then not having sight in front of yourself.
He's my new hyperfixation, the only reason I actually started watching it was because he has the same VA as Keith 🌚
*Spoiler free thoughts on Invincible S3 premiere*
2/7/25
Invincible has always thrived on emotional conflict and subverting expectations, but the season three premiere ups the ante as Mark faces off against his greatest villain yet - Cecil Stedman. I did not expect to finish the second episode of the season with my heart in my throat and being sick to my stomach. The first two episodes of the season pay off a lot of emotional stakes that were set up in season two, and seeing Mark at odds with Cecil might be my favorite conflict of the entire series, not counting season one’s end fight.
After killing Angstrom Levy, Mark enters season three with a desperate need to maintain responsibility and a higher standard for himself. He’s chronically training so he can be better, so what happened to Levy doesn’t happen again. Cecil is determined to save the world, but he isn’t determined to save himself. While Mark is desperate to preserve his morals, Cecil is more concerned about the end goal of safety, safety for humanity and for the world. However, he fails to recognize that if his efforts do pay off, the world may be safe, but it might not be worth living in. Cecil makes some decisions at the end of episode two that he may learn to regret as the season progresses. Cecil knows that he’s trying to save the world, but he no longer recognizes why he’s trying to save it.
Mark has a barrage of problems, and none of them have an easy answer. What is he going to do when the Viltrimites come back? How will he operate now that there’s bad blood between him and Cecil? Should he feel guilty about killing the man who tried to kill his family? Can evil individuals be reformed? These questions of morality tend to be the center conflict of the show, while the heart will always be the family aspect. Mark has his brother and mom to look after, and the Guardians might be the most nuclear family on telivision.
We should be very excited to see where this season takes us.

this was a WIP for farrr too long, so have it as a treat
People. Hats off to you! Is that really what I think?Wow.....
The funny thing is that... I'm siding with Nolan. He was really right about his ideology. And this whole struggle is just a perfect indicator of Garmadon and Lloyd.

This my first tumblr fic so it could definitely be better but yea. I wrote this in a frenzy last night hope you guys enjoy.
7:36pm, Friday night and Mark is curled up in your bed swiping through William's instagram story (when the fuck did he get so many friends?). Your at your desk playing some video game (there are way to many of them to keep track of). Mark was about to switch to snap but then you say
"Holy shit! Mark you have to see this."
"Alright alright"
Mark untangles himself from your favorite blanket and lazily pushes himself off your bed.
"Fuck I died. Lemme see if I can get back there"
Mark laughs and pulls out the extra chair at your desk before plopping himself down in it.
"What did you want to show me?"
"I'm gettn' there"
From the looks of it you were playing… sonic? That blue thing looked a lot like him anyway. Your playing a city level and… dying. A shit ton. You play the first part on this really bendy highway (how the fuck is anyone supposed to drive on that shit?) pretty much perfectly and then you bounce of this little red thing and then launch yourself into floating ball of spikes and the swear like a sailor. Mark's heard the opening cords of the level music like 5-7 times before you finally make it past the spikes of death. You do a lot of launching and flipping (since when was sonic this loud?) before entering a domed highway.
"What did you wanna show me?"
"So like there's this cool tech, idk if I can do it tho"
"Oh ok"
Mark looks down at his phone, 7:56. He rests his chin in the palm of his hand and looks back up at your computer screen. Your at a part of the level with a ton of spikes (why are there so many spikes???). You're trying to avoid a wall of em and end up dying.
"Fuckn' shitty ass fuckn'" you mumble more curses and restart. Pause the game and take off your headphones and turn up the game volume. The next 15 minutes are kinda a blur. You start messing up earlier and Eve texts him about chem today (their chem basically shit himself in front of them and curtly excused him), so safe to say Mark was only half paying attention. He did notice when you straighten out your posture he got to hear more of the music, so that was probably helping.
"Babe look up"
"Huh?"
You've stopped on a rooftop and start pointing to stuff on screen and animatly explained what the tech you'd found was. That was interesting, sounded difficult but Mark was definitely (totally) staring at your biceps rn. All that time in the gym with we'd spent was finally paying off (it was really cute how shy you were when he suggested the idea).
"Are you listening"
"I'm staring at your arms."
You wrinkle your nose and grumble a thanks while trying to hide your smile (failing miserably) before returming to your game.
"Can I try it out"
"uh, sure"
You get up and mark takes your seat. Maybe it's because you were getting the hang of the level and making it look easy but he kinda forgot that he's god awful at video games. he fuck ups and dies over the first pit, shit. no no, gimmie one more try. He launches into the ball of spikes and dies, 5 more times. He mumbling curse cause why is this so hard?
"Since when did you start cursing so much Mark?"
"Since we started dating. Your a bad influence" Mark gets to LINE (why is there a LINE of them after having to get past one. Mark is NOT built for this) of spike balls. He looks down on the keyboard and hesitantly presses jump. Sonic launches into the spikes and he fucking dies.
"I'm just a fucking boy, babe"
"and you proved my point"
Mark gives a kiss on the cheek before getting up from your seat, he's had enough video games for the next 3 months tbh.
Hope you liked it. idk if I'll be taking requests atp. If ur curious about the level they're playing, it's skyscraper scamper act 1-2 from sonic unleashed. Beenn on a recompiled kick recently and had a burst of inspiration while playing.
it's about time

i think it could be interesting to have Taylor interact with a Mark who’s early in their career and only just starting to learn Taylorisms to see her as what he might end up as.
Like Cecil has Taylor working for him cause Contessa saw the only way for her to stay put was if she had a job and so she gets put on babysitting duty when Mark first starts to work for Cecil and Mark see this woman with some sort of mysterious past who’s sorta a vague mentor figure who says things he’s been thinking in the back of his mind which scares him and makes him wonder about the role he’s going down
Hey so, thought exercise, how do you think Taylor would fare if she got dropped into the invincible universe? For the sake of mechanics let's say she literally gets dropped in via doorman portal or something.
So one thing about Invincible is that I think it's setting is protagonist-centric in a way that Worm's isn't. To the extent that Invincible's setting has worldbuilding- worldbuilding that isn't, like, ported in from the books's early association with the confederated Image Comics shared universe- it's worldbuilding that exists to convey the impression of a big-two-flavor universe. Here's our spin on the undersea kingdom, here's the riff on the Martians, here are our riffs on SHIELD, on Gotham, on Themyscira, on 70s blaxploitation-adjacent heroes, and so on. This is the entire ethos underpinning the Guardians of the Globe in particular- piggybacking on pre-existing audience affection for the Justice League to convey that it's a Big Fucking Deal when the guardians get blendered in issue 7.
You have flashbacks demonstrating that there was capital-S Superhero Stuff going on in the seventies and eighties, or as far back as the thirties with Immortal, you create the impression of a status quo, a big pond in which Mark is a little fish. And to Kirkman's credit, some effort clearly went into making sure that the non-Mark capes are sufficiently fleshed out that you can believe that they've got other stuff going on in their lives. But at the end of the day, it's the Invincible universe. You don't see a lot of people talking about the Guarding the Globe spinoff. Many of the most interesting characters- Cecil being a big example here- are interesting because of the ways in which they bounce off Mark specifically, the ways in which he chooses to deal with them. The universe is less of a character in the story the way that Earth Bet is- it's just the place where Mark's story, specifically, is happening. If there's a codified setting bible, I'll eat my hat.
Now of course the world of Worm is, in many ways, equally Taylor-centric, because that's what it means to be the protagonist. But owing in part to the themes of the story, and in part to the sheer number of false-start protagonists Wildbow played around with before settling on Taylor, it's very good at conveying the idea that there are many stories happening in this setting and Taylor's is just the one this particular work happened to focus on. There's an actual point to doing OC worldbuilding for what the superhero scene looks like in Wormverse Denver or Seattle or whatever- whereas you can come up with superhero teams for Invincible-verse Denver, but what actually ties them to that universe? What are you getting out of putting them in Invincible specifically, that you wouldn't get from whipping up a barebones MASKS setting to support your OCs? Anyway. This is a really long way of getting to my real point, which is that I think the question is less "how does Taylor bounce off the Invincible setting" and more "How does Taylor bounce off Invincible the character, around whom the setting orbits even when it pretends not to."
This I'm unsure of, because where do you stick her in his life where you get an interesting dynamic? One thing that's interesting here is that Mark's overall character arc already involves learning a lot of taylorisms- the strategic ruthlessness, the shift from a good-evil dichotomy to a helping-not-helping dichotomy-so what about his arc is going to change if they spend time together? Why would they spend time together? Given the different power levels on display, what would differentiate her, in his experience, from the dozens of filler capes that exist for him at the level of "vague acquaintance?" This is assuming she's active as a cape at all, which she might not be if this is Post-GM. Mutual association through Cecil and the Global Defense Agency might be a hook- maybe they're paying for her new arm or something- but would she latch her cart to Cecil's wagon in the first place, barring some obvious crisis situation? Hard to say. If she's depowered, and present in his life somehow in a civilian context, well, that's a fast-track to not being part of the story anymore either, given how Mark's civilian connections slowly fading away was kind of a quiet plot point.
There's some configuration of these pieces that could be interesting, but I'm not quite sure what they are. Soliciting input here.
