Hello! Do you have any favorite fiction works that intentionally address/explore linguistics? (For example, the Arrival movie, or Out of the silent planet)
hmm i don't think i know a ton, but babel is an auto-rec for me (translation magic! also breaks your heart!) and i really enjoyed the original ted chiang story that arrival is based on, "story of your life." ann leckie's imperial radch series does fun things with pronouns too, although linguistics is much less central.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
i thought given the influx of aromantic and/or asexual characters within asian dramas this the past year (and by that i mean like 3 but that’s better than none) i would share a link to my aromantic and asexual characters list as a reference or resource for members of both communities looking for more rep within the asian drama space.
WHAT THE LIST INCLUDES:
what drama it is
the character’s name and whether they’re a main or support character
where they fall on the asexual or aromantic spectrums
the type of rep it is (word used, definition used, etc)
notes on the representation (i.e. usually my own opinions on the rep like if i think it’s harmful or not or just other information i think would be useful)

It’s been long enough since I worked at the hideously mismanaged nanotech startup that I’ve started romanticizing it. Like, yes the hydrogen explosion was scary and I’m entirely too familiar with the odor of decaborane, and yes the CEO and CTO got in a fistfight in the conference room, but nothing makes you feel alive like turning chunks of graphite on an ancient manual lathe with inadequate respiratory PPE.
I want a TMNT iteration crossover but with the turtles being the ages they would currently be in 2023. So you have the 51 year old 1987 turtles, 35 year old 2003 turtles, 26 year old 2012 turtles, 18-20 year old Rise turtles, and 15 year old MM turtles. Put them in a room together.
