it's the scientific name for a mushroom! Strobilomyces strobilaceus, commonly known as the old man of the woods. I think it's neat :] funky little edible bolete (ive never tried it myself but i would like to! very easily recognized, good safe species if you know the basics)

mushroom posting has been on hold lately because we're in a drought but there will always be honey mushroom . in utter contempt of all moisture levels

bird's nest fungi (Crucibulum laeve)! these guys have a very unique method of spore dispersal - when a raindrop falls in the cup, it sends the spore-filled "eggs" flying
earth tongues (genus Geoglossum) plus a little waxcap
drew some more mushrooms with alcohol markers and outlined it with paint pens
The mushrooms with the pink outline and the mushrooms with the orange outline were already there. I just drew the mushroom with the blue outline.
The white outlines were a bit janky… but it was hard to see the edges of the mushrooms (since I used darker colors for the mushrooms and was drawing in a semi-dark room.
Otherwise, I’m really happy with my little mushroom drawing!

Found this drawing of a mushroom I did a while ago. At least a month ago…probably two or two and a half, honestly.
I know I was trying to use gouache to color it in. The outline is a sharpie paint pen thing.

Drew these all with the same pen. Got a lot better at shading with a pen over the time I drew these all.

I think I could make it work with some practice, but I’m definitely better at shading with pencils right now.
